The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

eh, i wouldn't do that, exploring is fun and monsters give some exp too. not to mention you can run into useful loot.

But he/she said he's overwhelmed, and I gave him a possible solution.

Yes, exploring is fun, but it's not fun if you're directed to explore them. I'd rather explore the game myself without the game telling me where to go. Turning off the POIs doesn't mean avoiding them.

I cant find where to buy the maps for the Enhanced Ursine Trousers and Steel Sword (I have the other parts already upgraded). Which vendor should hazzle?

I had POI on initially but I turned them off because they were cluttering the map. Plus I agree it's more exciting to stumble upon something than just being led to it.

That's why I love this game. It doesn't tell you what the "right" or "wrong" thing to do is. Contrast that to Bioware and other RPG narrative design who've recently embraced the stupid dichotomy (or trichotomy) of their dialogue wheels specifying the "good" and "bad" actions.

Here you have to make a choice and gotta live with it.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Thanks so much for the help! This game really just expects you to know what you're doing. Not necessarily a bad thing but I really just feel it's over my head a lot of the time.

Is there a better way to know what ingredients you need to buy from merchants than to look at things you can craft, see what you need, then go back and buy that thing, then go back and see what you need next, and repeat forever?

Also, and I'm not sure if they even exist, but I have no potions of any kind and have no idea where to get them or make them. Same with bombs.

You REALLY don't need to be overthinking the crafting so much. Almost all of the ingredients are readily found naturally doing quests and exploring. If something is missing you could check out some vendor stocks, or just keep a lookout as you press on. Even then you rarely should be going out of your way for that stuff. It'll all find you faster than you think.

Just relax and enjoy the experience. It's not necessary to obsess or concern about much in this game. The design is not meant to confuse or punish, nor does it expect you to be so nervous about its systems. Take it in stride, you can't goof up really.

No, was that especially good in regards to horses?
Yes. I think most of us didnt realise just how good it was until we played the Witcher 3. Given that RDR came out 5 years ago on previous gen consoles, I think a lot of console players find Roach gameplay very jarring, especially given how polished W3 is in most respects. That's probably why you're seeing so many people highlight that aspect as a weakness of the game.

No, Red Dead's horses are the same horse-shaped vehicles you usually get in video games.
Roach may be buggy, but her ability to follow the road instantly makes her a better video game horse, even if she doesn't quite match Agro (the horse from Shadow of the Colossus).

Don't worry about buying ingredients. You can readily find them in the wild. Buying alchemical ingredients is more of a convenience if you need like two leaves of something to craft a potion.

You need formulas to craft potions and bombs. You can find them in chests, or buy them from herbalists and alchemists. A good tip is to buy any and all formulas you come across. Many quests also lead you directly to formulas and recipes, so you will acquire them eventually. Any potion, decoction, and bomb you craft is infinitely renewable via meditating as long as you have some hard alcohol, which you can find everywhere.

I've already read a million posts like this in this thread already, but seriously, Skellige might be the most beautiful game locale I have ever seen.

And so glad I stayed faithful #TeamYen

isle of mists
quest, my diffculty changed to Just the Story, I realized this hours later.
When I switched back to death march! I still get the achievement warning when attempt to lower it.

Love these hand-drawn epilogues that happen once in a while after a story sequence. Just happen to me now, unexpectedly, with

Am I the only one that doesn't think Roach is all that bad? I mean, I'm not discounting people having bad experiences, but I haven't had anywhere near the experience of people that loath her.

Roach is just there. I ride her to a destination and occasionally fight with her, and that's it. On occasion she gets stuck so I just run elsewhere and whistle. Riding isn't exceptional, but I don't get the hatred.

This have anything to do with using a controller?

Well it's at least the two of us that like him. Actually, I love him. He's my bro - a big endearing idiot. It's like a shitty car that you get attached to.

"C'mon Roach!"

Man... Cat School + Precise Blows + Whirl + Hunter Instinct + Killing Spree + Katakan Decoction is pretty awesome.

Wearing a mix of feline and assassins armor and the crits keep on coming.

Guess I found my favourite build.

Been in novigrad for a while now... It's definitely slowed down somewhat... I liked the faster pace before and it seems like I'm running around just getting bits of the story.

Still a great game.

The wolf school gear hit at the pretty much perfect time for me. One last tour through the world before I enter the endgame.

Well that's dumb
What's supposed to be dumb about it? He's an absolute nobody who happens to have some info about Ciri. Once you extract that info, he's useless both to Geralt and in the grander political scheme.

PSA: the horse auto riding AI works perfectly 100% of the time if you're moving at medium speed (which no one ever does). If you're sprinting/galloping, Roach gets stuck on everything, loses the track, can't turn tight corners etc

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything

They really need to turn off all the automatic "play the game for me" shit, none of it is any good. Completely unnecessary and just adds a ton of jank. Auto-steer horse and auto-center camera are trash. I've played the game to death and love it, but this stuff still bothers me, constantly. Especially the damn camera, especially on the horse.

I suspect this is why people hate Roach and maybe don't even realize, it isn't the horse, it's because they're constantly fighting his auto-steer and auto-center camera.

I've seen the motherfucker popping over water and somehow swimming, or spawning behind a fence and not moving an inch. Hell, I've seen the fucker's head inside a damned wall.

My roach likes grazing under water as he gets attacked by Drowners.

I've been trying to make that. Do You know any areas where vampires spawn ? I've done all the quest that involve them

After not touching Gwent the entire game, I finally decided to do a few quests solely because they were clogging up space in my quest log. The game is a lot of fun once you understand the basics. I was worried that I would be crushed since I didn't pay attention to it all game, but I didn't lose to any of the quest opponents until High Stakes. I think that if you've decided to ignore Gwent, it's worth doing the side quests associated with it. Buy the Foltest weather card from the merchant in White Orchard's main town, and then you can build up your deck from the cards you win in quests.

And I love how quests escalate in this game. In High Stakes, you sign up for a card tournament. It then ends with
stolen money, murder, and sex.

Quick question for those that have finished the game. Just wondering how far I am from the end.

Right now I just finished
Gathering everyone I could to help me fight the Hunt after I get Ciri from the Island

Thanks!

Applesauce

Boom! Bitch-slapped!
After completing the Skellige Gwent quests I ventured back to Novigrad for the High Stakes quest and wrecked it the first attempt. Now I just need Lambert's Hero card and my OP Gwent deck is complete.

Also, I recommend getting all the cards in Skellige before doing High Stakes, there is a lvl 0 Hero + Spy card you win there that makes things a little easier for you. You also get more Nilfgaardian leader cards if that is your preferred deck, and I think I got another Northern Realms spy card too.

On that note I think I'm all Witchered out, I've spent well over 100 hours on this game and after I get Lambert's card I'm going to put it on the shelf until the season pass DLC hits.

Plenty of main story left. 8-10 hours maybe ? It's not the endgame event it seems to come off as.

Just beat the game on Deathmarch. Loved it beginning to end other than the last few hours kind of dragged on a bit. In the end it was worth it. Now just to finish up the combat trophies for the plat!

So my game really is bugged. I'm trying to do The beast from oxenfurt forest, and whenever I talk to hans the quest log won't update. Fucking, fuck fuck...I've even found and killed the monster and now hans is dead.

Speaking of Roach, I think he's into human. Found him flirting with a girl in a tavern.
Funnily enough, I can't summon him after I finished a quest and ended up in the center of the city. Had to save and reload the game and I can summon him again. Seems like a bug.

You can go to skellige whenever you want to.

You can go to Skellidge whenever.
But you're almost done with the main quest in Novigrad anyway. (Even though there are some pretty important side quests tht follow it).

Main quest boring me to death as I arrived in Skellige and still playing Columbo trying to piece back past events and finding Ciri.

I think I'm going to go on fast tracking mode (just going from one objective to the next). Bummer :(

Got also side tracked with Steam sale playing Stranded Deep, World of Diving and Subnautica (gotta get Sunless Seas too)... Finding it hard to get back in, but will for sure tonight.

Not liking Yen at all is not helping, of course...

hmm, thanks

i think im going full main quest from now on in novigrad before touching any side quest or skellige, im doing a lot of side, contracts and treasure hunt earlier resulted in 30hrs in novigrad alone,, (but that was an awesome 30hrs)

and any good witcher gears that i should hunt (im level 13)? im using the nilfgaardian armor right now and its doing quite well protecting me,,,

AND i really need to finish this game before arkham.. might skip day one :(

You're not enjoying the main quest so you're going to torture yourself by ignoring all the wonderful side content and rushing the part of the game you don't like? This seems like a very odd decision to me.

If you're at the end of the Novigrad questline at level 13 and after 30 hours played, you're rushing the crap out of the game and clearly haven't done a lot of side content at all.

I started Novigrad at like 70 hours.

Witcher Bros fun -
I have been in khare morhen for a minute and did the quest where you hang out with the other witchers and get super drunk,
it was so much fun. Honestly, I would love a Witcher game where you just pickup monster contracts and then get lit with your bros at night.

Love this game.
