Anyone else find in some buildings, hair is blowing all over the place... and others it's calm?

...this is my biggest complaint... lol.

30 hours in and I think I'm just about ready to enter Novigrad. Finally finished up the Bloody Baron's quest line, and holy shit, that was some good stuff.

There's no worry of losing access to the Velen side quests if I head into Novigrad and start moving things along there, right?

Walk around the mountain, there's a path. Follow it and you will see some mist monsters with Lv. ??. Run past them, there's a giant door. It's locked. Abuse the buggy climbing (almost as bad as Skyrim lol) to go OVER the cave behind that door (that part took me over an hour), then slide down the other side. A short climb later you can get to the point of power lol. To go back you need to enter the cave (no monsters in there) from the other side and fall down some deep hole into a lake. Just follow that and you'll stand outside the mountain again. You even get a cool sword from the cave.

It's funny, I literally did this 5 minutes ago :D

I wonder how you get that key though, that quest could be really interesting. When you fall down into that lake in the cave there's a part with shallow water. In the water stands a cooking pot, surrounded by human limbs. No monsters though. I bet the enemy didn't spawn because I didn't have the quest when I entered the cave :(

When you say walk around the mountain which side do you mean, towards the coast line? Or towards the nilfgardian camp? By the door do you mean that massive ironish looking door that says locked?

I guess I never tried climbing over the door, oh well something to do tonight haha.

This has probably already been asked but this thread moves insanely fast. I'm only level 3 now but you do you get more ability points as you level up more or is it 1 for 1 each level? I found a
Place of Power
so that helps too.

It's still 1 per level as of level 12 (where I got to last night).

You definitely will want to seek out the places of power to get more ability points.

Nothing broke for me, no failed quests. Technically they're the same area. You'll be fine.

Maybe that's because the windows are open? :p I dunno lol it does look a bit weird sometimes.

Yeah, I thought that... but sometimes (like the pub in Oxenfurt) I'm sure there aren't any windows open.. could be a slight physics bug - since in other buildings it changes perfectly/dynamically with inside/outside hair.

Obviously, this is a minor issue - not worth worrying about :D

Is this a bug, or do you not get any experience for completing Family Matters, Whispering Hillock, OR Ladies of the Wood? I just finished all three in one play session and got absolutely no experience. The fuck? Do I have to complete Return to Crookback Bog first?

It's a bug, which is currently being fixed for a future update.
It happened to me a little bit after these quests, and it still is a problem 20hours laters, so I guess I won't play the game until it's fixed, since I'm missing on thousands of xp points.

why are you "readying" yourself for areas? Just go. I've been wandering in all areas since I was like level 5.

Exactly, I've probably missed out on a level and a half between the three quests. I was overleveled for them anyway, but still. You hardly get any XP anywhere else compared to main quests.

This is why big open world games need mods and console commands, like Skyrim and Fallout. If the game fucks up and denies me XP, I can give it to myself.

Heh, was walking around Novigrad and hearing Geralt remark on a scent. Followed it and it started a quest.
That is without a doubt the only thing I love when you enter witcher sense mode. Following scents. Found it in a sidequest and have been looking for more stuff like that ever since.

Did the DLC for this week drop yet? I just need to know how get that alt look on Yennefer asap.

posted this earlier but I'll go again..

For anyone wondering how to activate the new look for Yennefer here you go...

If you have downloaded the DLC for the alternate look a new "Downloadable Content" listing is now in the Main Menu of the game. In that you just select On or Off for the new look.

So I've learned I can steal anything from anybody and nobody cares. 30 hours in, nobody raised a word, much less a sword.

Then all the sudden I'm in a Redanian camp, I take some water from a crate and the whole camp is after me. Reload the game, avoid taking anything, go into Oxenfurt, take something from some barrel and again, Redanian guard comes after me. So yea, apparently there are consequences for stealing. Just sometimes. I guess Redanians don't like sharing!

In other news, it was my first trip to Oxenfurt(still haven't seen Novigrad). Just barely walked in so far, but seeing civilization again is refreshing after almost 20 hours of roaming the worn down Velen countryside.

Yeah, that door. It will take you a lot of tries, but it is possible.

Guards and soliders of any kind take not well for stealing. The peasants seem to be scared by your assholery though. Stealing from the poor, smh

Yeah. It's not random, though. Guards don't like stealing, everyone else is probably not going to pick a fight with a Witcher about you taking their broken rake and mug.

Archers are too OP in this game. I mean, we're talking about homing arrows that take off a quarter of your health at a time. Will the deflection parry cure my ailment?

Not only parrying but you can line up their buddies so that they take the arrows for you. Their high damage is great!

The reason why they reacted is because they are guards. There aren't any guards in most random villages, especially not indoors.

Also, you can go to Oxenfurt as soon as you reach Velen. I agree, it's very refreshing :) I go there from time to time just to chill (and sell my unwanted equipment; the armorer here pays more than everyone I've met in random villages; still haven't been to Novigrad though).

Love the little details in this game. Wandered into a bookstore in Novigrad and
it sparked a tiny micro quest related to Alvin from the first game!

I can't seem to get this quest started. I'm pretty sure I'm at the right place but I can't interact with anyone there. Is there something I'm supposed to do?

can you only have 2 sidequests at a time? I pikced up everything in the first notice board, but I only have 2 sidequests (one being the gwent card one), I walked back to the notice board after doing the blacksmith arson quest and the notices were up again, minus the 2 I have (to find someone and a witcher contract which is a different tab)

bug or what am I missing?

I'm addicted to hunting deer, it's amazing venturing off into the woods finding landmarks and other creatures while hunting. Damn this game is good.

Lol, of course you can have as many side-quests as you want. That's a strange bug, unless you mistook some random notes on the board for quests.

You can have as many as you pick up. And actually read what you pick up or you might end up with Jehova's witnesses :p
Not every paper is a quest.
