Everything under alchemy needs only be crafted once. Look at alchemy like gear: bombs, potions, and oils. Once you have a recipe and craft them they're yours forever, though have limited uses, and every time you meditate you'll use one bottle of alcohol to refill all that have been spent. You can then acquire additional recipes to craft upgrades to already crafted alchemy. So Swallow -> Enhanced Swallow. But yeah, craft once, yours forever, refill by meditating.

oh thats awesome, so I definately should craft whatever I can then

Is at the main plaza where they
burn people
. The bank is a dwarf with unique name. He also plays Qwent. Play more Qwent.Bankers are technically merchants too.

Should be a different icon cuz you can't sell off anything to him.

Can someone help me with sign intensity?
I know what it is but I'd like to know how to improve it.

I'm around 100 Sign intensity through a marriage of magical armor, and (most importantly) aligning blue mutagens with sign powers. Stronger mutagens and more sign powers = more sign intensity. My meter recharges almost instantly and I'm able to use some high-level signs that mean that I sometimes don't even have to lift my sword.

The hoarder in me is ruining a part of the game for me. I too close to my weight capacity because I have way too many crafting/alchemy and junk stuff. I'm thinking maybe look at the crafting stuff I can make and keep those materials and sell everything else?

Also, how do I respec?

Absolutely loving Igni's second fire mode. Massive damage ability if you hit charging groups at the right moment, plus making shield-bearers drop and start panicking. For most monsters (excluding wraiths) it's the choice that makes em drop more quickly, especially wyverns.

Thank you both! Haven't played the card game since the tutorial. Hasn't really interested me

I haven't bothered either. I don't understand it at all. I'll save it when I replay the game and don't care about the story as much anymore. Right now, I'm super invested in all the stories.

I came to this game expection bloodborne rpg style, damm do i regret this, my fault obviously, bloodborne its not very demanding with crafting, potions or whatever, i spent like 2 hours watching tutorials popping up on screen, jesus.

Is it just me that in camera sensibility its almost reduced to zero? Thats some fast camera!

It's really sad and pathetic that even basic level 1 drowners stomp my shit hard. )= The combat blows ass.

Try putting an ability point into the skill that lets you deflect arrows while parrying and then put some points into improving Axii. Both come in really handy for bandit fights. Also don't forget you can knock bandits off of their horses with Aard.

Still not helping, still getting my shit stomped.

This really needed to be explained in an obvious way by the game. That was a misstep. You shouldn't even have the option to create another one once you have created one.

So if I make, or get a blue mutagen I should pair that with the sign upgrades in the chart.
And then find some armour of the magic kind?

Does it make signs stronger?
Thanks btw.

To respec you need a potion of clearance. It costs 1000.
A few merchants sell it.
Keira
for example.

My weight cap is 160 iirc. I've never been over encumbered again.
I sell armor, weapons and hides. Never sold any of the crafting stuff.

when their health bar flashes red, hit dodge or roll, then attack them as they miss you.

Have you ever played Dark Souls?

I agree at first it's hard to get used to, but you eventually will.

You need to learn how to dodge, and when to use each type. The quick dodge is the most effective because it doesn't require stamina, but you have to move in the direction you want to dodge while pressing the dodge button in order for it to work properly.

I suppose they let you create more as I'm pretty sure you can drop them. Maybe sell. Which you shouldn't ever, but yeah, alchemy is presented really poorly. They're basically gear that should get their own category or menu.

I had a lot of hope at the beginning of the game that the economy would stay challenging throughout the game, and I would always be looking for more ways to get cash. It was an awesome feeling at the beginning of the game to be broke and having an actual reason to take up a random contract. Now, it's hard to find a role playing reason to hit up the contract boards because Geralt has 4000 gold in his saddlebags. I definitely think that from now on (and in future play thoughs) I'm not going to keep picking up random stuff quite as much. I'll grab things I need for crafting and alchemy, but I'll take it easy on picking up every bandits sword and every material in a sack. Doesn't seem like Geralt, anyway. Hopefully after a bit I can return to that original feeling that was great at the beginning of the game.

Why does it 5-7 seconds to load if you die and load the last save but loading manually it takes the Vesemir talk + 10 or more seconds

Dark Souls was easy compared to this. Blocking doesn't seem to help, and I'm usually overwhelmed.

Check out the health bar of enemies, they will glow red when they will hit you, at that moment quick dodge and everything will seem more easy after you learn to do that.

Is what helped me cross the learning curve line about the combat.

Blocking won't do much against many of the non-human enemies. Early on you'll rely heavily on Quen until you level your signs up and acquire more powerful weapons. It didn't start coming together for me until I got to Velen.

Dark Souls has less enemies, but they're harder. You're probably just getting swarmed. Don't block, counter. When it flashes red, hit block and it'll counter them and push them back (for humans).

I know that feel, I'm playing on Death March difficulty and was getting steam rolled earlier. Now I have the hang of it.

My advise would be to not to button mash. Be cautious to enemy attack patterns, especially in groups. When facing groups take out stragglers first, as you will always be at a disadvantage.

The other things are obvious, use bombs, oils and potions plentifully. Preparation is the key to victory in this game. I've found large bandit groups that would have been otherwise really hard to beat, much easier after dropping grapeshot on their gathered asses as they are chasing me.

Also, as above poster says. Cutting fools down on horseback is satisfying and awesome. Hell I even beat one of the contracts on horseback.

can someone quickly explain alchemy? when I craft something it says I already own it after, so do you only craft it once until you use it or something?

everytime you meditate you use certain items to replenish your stock automatically. so don't worry about those. :)

Yes, the easiest way to get massive amounts of sign intensity is using griffon armour and that passive that gives you sign intensity and stamina regen for wearing medium armour. I have close to 200% and my fire 100% burns and does massive damage to enemies that are weak to it. Also get the 2 passive adrenaline point perks, makes it so you can almost continuously cast.

The Witcher: Wild Hunt, level up and combat gets better. Not only do you know how to deal with big groups a lot better, but you have some awesome tools to get the job done.

I'm currently planning a Rend build with some alchemy and sign combat built in. Sounds like a sign build is fun, will try this on my second playthrough.

Love, love the atmosphere of this game that I walk for everything, almost no horse use for me when you have this kind of scenery.

Fuck. Did you guys hear about the XP bug that is plaguing all platforms? I just read about it on Destructoid and just did a little experiment. I'm affected as well and I'm not getting any XP from quests anymore. Just did the Novigrad Dreaming quest and didn't get anything. Checked a Youtube video of the quest and the guy got 100XP after finishing it.

CDPR is already working on a fix..

Fucking hell. This means I can't play the game anymore until they fixed it :(

Drowned lunges you can't block. Eventually you'll figure out what works and what doesn't. For drowners I usually just dodge everything and attack. Signs help tremendously as well.

I'm getting overwhelmed by how much stuff I have in my inventory. Is there a time when I can offload some stuff in a "bank" or anything?

Hmm, is there a certain point in the story that the bug hits? I'm lvl 17 and the most recent main story quest I completed was
Get Junior
. Pretty sure I received XP from it as leveled up after completing it.

I still have to
find & rescue Dandelion
and complete whatever other main Novigrad quests come after that.

Yeah. I even turned off the minimap after leaving WO. I look at the map, get a feel for where I'm trying to go, then go looking for it. A lot of the time I go the wrong way but still find something cool, and I really am paying attention to the environment instead of relying on the minimap. It's so much better this way.

I pretty much never fast travel in this game, which for an open world title is rare for me. The world is just so dense, detailed, and atmospheric I want to actually journey everywhere and experience it.

Did you turn of all the UI? its liberating once you stop looking at the top right corner all the time. I love how immersive the game becomes. Actually.. i know my way a lot better now.

No I kept the mini-map. The world is so damn huge I would most likely get totally lost

That fucking sucks. I had no idea that such a bug existed but while I was playing yesterday I noticed I wasn't getting xp from some of the quests I was doing. It might also be because I'm overleveled for most of the stuff I'm doing and you're not supposed to get any xp from the quests that are 5 or 6 levels below you. Have you checked if that is the case for you?

Trust me, once you just reference for way the map, but get rid of it. You notice more things. Its really awesome. I was hesitant to get rid of it. But i am having way more fun now.

can't do it. I need to see where enemies are so I can react/plan. Or else I'd need to save every 5 feet.
