There's a chance Tron 3 could still happen

The script for Tron Legacy was iffy but the cinematography was amazing and it was a treat for the eyes and ears. I hope we get a sequel or at least a really decent spin-off of some kind.

Uprising's early death didn't help.

I still remember the comic-con when Disney dropped the concept trailer on the internet. I would love to see a continuation of the ideas left in Legacy and Uprising.

She will be too old for this 2030 sequel.

Cue the Tron CGI.

...this is as close as we're likely to get and it's a shame more people didn't watch it because it's pretty good stuff.

Seriously, the best things to come from Legacy were it's soundtrack and this show.

GOD FUCKING DAMN IT WHY DID YOU REMIND ME THAT THIS WAS TAKEN FROM ME

I don't buy it.

Disney has plenty of overlap for the Tron audience with Marvel and Star Wars films that are guaranteed to do better at the box office.

tron 2 looked great (aside from CG face) but man was the plot horrendous

I really don't understand when people say this about Tron Legacy.
The plot is serviceable at worst. I understand there's nothing amazing about it. It's simple but I happen to like it. But to call it horrendous?

I can see hyperbole like that being used on movies like Batman v Superman or Prometheus. Those movies have very clear and easy to point out plot holes and baffling story choices.

Can anyone articulate with examples the reasons they think the plot of Tron Legacy is terrible?

I won't be fooled by false hope.
Please happen ! it's the one film I have waited for the most over the past 5 years.
Disney gave up on Tron 3 after the Marvel films started printing money, it became even far fetched of an idea after the bought Star Wars. They had a lot of work ready for the sequel but it seems like after John Carter Disney just gave up.

It was absolutely amazing to see Tron Legacy in IMAX, and even today no movie has come close to that experience.
It really is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen and the visuals will age well (outside of Clu ofcourse) over the years due to the way the grid looks.

Financial success does not equal quality and vice-versa.

I wasn't just referring to it's financial success, TFA was a well received film, as the person I was quoting probably knows.

The Lone Ranger and Tomorrowland played their part as well.

You missed the boat on having Olivia Wilde do that movie. She is too busy turning down bigger movies like guardians of the Galaxy to do it.

In what parallel universe? It was okay at best, helped by a nice soundtrack and cool visual design. Otherwise, the movie itself was crap.

It's amazing because it's an extremely entertaining film with a simple, fundamentally relatable premise.

I'm not going to say the movie is as great as Avatar, but they're both good movies for the same reasons.

I believe a lot of the costumes and props were practical effects too?

I saw Tron Legacy twice in theaters because I flat out adored the visuals, but I have almost no interest in revisiting it in a home setting.

If they ever do a sequel, I really hope the script gets more attention.

Good. Tron Legacy was amazing.

I would also enjoy a Dredd sequel...

Yes and yes, two films I really enjoyed. Honestly I was really impressed with Tron Legacy. Amazing soundtrack, really cool action. It had some style and flair in the direction and it worked as a really good movie. Another film where some people hate in it for no reason I can see. Dredd too, although I thought was was really well received. I want more of that universe (so long as there's cool slow motion drug induced scenes again!).

Please let this happen. I loved Legacy and Uprising. Legacy was a awesome experience in theaters and I really enjoyed the visuals, music and the story too surprisingly. Uprising in particular suffered a ridiculously unfair fate that it did on the Disney channel. They put so much effort into putting the show and cast together only to seemingly kill it on purpose. Made no sense. Tron deserves more.

Legitimately out of the movies I've seen in 3D, Legacy was one of two films (the other being Gravity) where 3D was absolutely perfect. It was incredible.

Honestly one of my favourite films ever, quite honestly. Seen it in the cinema a dozen times and I don't regret a single penny spent.

I'd be in the cinema day one if Tron 3 ever gets made. The cancellation first time really broke my heart, but if they can somehow get this off the ground, I'd be honestly delighted. Hope we get a greenlight at D20 next year, if not sooner.
