Sorry for the bump, but the official TRON facebook is killing me with the fucking teasing that probably goes nowhere.

James Gunn posted an image with him and the light cycle.

Article is saying that might be the connection with him taking over directing duties on 3. Fits well with the facebook posts if they're not trolling.

I dont know why they would need a different director, Kosinski was set to return and loved the world. Unless Gunn really want to direct it and Disney is like whatever you want as long as you keep doing Marvel stuff.

I'm curious as to why the original director would be booted as well. Could be a multitude of things. Though I think gunn would work. Dunno if he can Set up the same sort of shots though that kosinki has a perfection for

Because listing it as "From the director of Guardians of the Galaxy" adds just enough to the projected BO for this to be a profitable movie.

Tron legacy was profitable if I recall, just not as much as it could have been. So yeah what yo say makes sense. Easy way to boost some more money.

Don't fuck with us Gunn.

If this is true I almost think it'd be because Gunn made Guardians of the Galaxy work and surprised everyone. So Disney would want to see if he can make Tron go very big.

I would prefer Kosinski, but hey if the movie gets made I will take anyone and Gunn is pretty awesome so not the worst thing in the world. I am still sketchy on Pacific Rim 2 since they booted Del Toro :/

Legacy was trash but the trailer was dope and man that soundtrack...whew.

Don't give a shit about Kosinski, I think Gunn would be a step down though. On an aesthetic point for sure and I don't think his movies are that good to really make so much of an improvement narratively anyways. Might as well just keep kosinsski if gunn is the other choice honestly.

The god for this would be Villeneuve basically, but he's too busy making a sequel to a sci-fi movie that was actually good :D

You know if I pushed you into a river I'd probably be out by the time this came out

Stop toying with my heart!!!

Let it happen and let the world be a better place.

Although I don't know if I would be totally on board with Gunn over Kosinski, if it has to be that way then let it.

And for the love of all that is holy get Daft Punk, Bruce Boxleitner, and Olivia Wilde back as well. Maybe even Cillian Murphy would be down for another.

Please, I need this to happen. Tron Legacy was so good. (Story-wise it was alright, but visual/sound design wise it was "give it to me straight into my veins")

If this is indeed happening, I wonder outside of gunn what changes in the climate swayed it. Wonder if perhaps it's to back off from going to heavy with just fairytale style stuff in their live action Disney lineup?

They realized Tomorrowland being shit was entirely Brad Bird's fault

Nah, Disney is just gonna keep on teasing us because they're assholes.

Also, if you can't get Daft Punk back for the score and you can't get Joseph Kosinski back to direct I dunno if you should even bother. Though two managed to take a piss-poor screenplay and make it into a visually and aurally stunning treat.

Better fight scenes and no more CLU, unless he's aged and Jeff is willing to do two roles. If you can't get Daft Punk back, I'll take Justice.

This passion project for Disney needs to happen. Legacy was one of my favorite movies, it was beautiful and sounded fantastic.

I feel lik Clu and everything else should be done.
Only way I see Jeff bridges coming back is in either a video diary or flashback. But legacy to me closed off his story pretty well.

I want this to happen so much. I fucking loved Tron Legacy. Sure it had some issues here and there, but I though the story was OK in general. The visuals and soundtrack were GOD TIER though.

Agreed. They opened the door for a new MCP, which is obviously buried in the ENCOM OS. Ed Dillinger Jr. is continuing his father's work, and they would need to find TRON to help take on the New MCP, once and for all. And get David Warner back.
