Thinking on it, the Yu-Gi-Oh anime is on some straight up bullshit.

I payed $20 for a box of packs that came with a Five-Headed Dragon.

Combo'd with-
Dragon%27sMirrorDR04-EN-SR-UE.png

Won a few local tournies with this combo, it was controversial every single time I used it due to the wording of not being able to be special summoned and the special summoning being treated as a fusion summon. The refs had to get involved and they sided with me, then this combo became popular enough that there was just a standing rule in my local tournies that they weren't to be bothered with it. Good times, but then the whole game got overtaken by archetypes and I didn't have the money to keep up. I was the Oregon state champ one year, though.

Eh that's legit. I don't see how anyone can argue how that can't work. It obviously is worded the way it is for a reason. Someone probably never saw those cards, about to lose, and tried to get an arbitrator to side with them.

It was pretty much them trying to stop themselves from losing every time. It happened like six times since I based my deck around getting this shit out really quick and wrecked shop.

YGOPro

its the best

jeebus its fully automated now? I remember using this years ago and you to do some slash commands to do calculate LP and other stuff. was all manual, and it was pretty great!

And there is AI now? Thats insane! Must be insane to program, heck modern yugioh games AI struggle like a motherfucker... and will still blindly attack face down monsters i believe.

Playing that YGOPro thing.

Can't keep up with all that Syncro/XYZ/fusion ridiculousness, I'm fine trolling and beating everyone with a simple burn deck.

Do you mind sharing some details about the early chapters? The anime seemrd pretty fucked up at times with the forceful removal of Pegasus' eye and the duel where the loser lost their legs. Not to mention banishing people to some unknown realm. All for a card game.

well, the manga wasn't only about cards.
they would make up several games and yugi's split personality/pharaocharacter was basically fucked up psycho that can't loose in any game.
i hate using these words but it was gritty and dark.

read a few chapters first, than came the anime and i said to myself "WTF IS THIS SHIT"
it was all just an ad for the cardgame (yes i know, every kidscartoon is for merchendise)

Oh man, YVD.

Yeah, the manga was pretty different from the anime. In the original manga, Seto Kaiba started out as just another mook of the week, who got mind-crushed the same chapter he first appeared. Yami was pretty scary too. In the very first chapter of the manga, he comes up with a game where he challenges a guy to a contest that involves potentially stabbing body parts with knives. The anime also glosses over details, such as that time Yami saved Tea while she was a waitress ended with Yami lighting a guy on fire.

I remember there was this guy in the original manga that was a bully to Yugi, and he made him watch him do karaoke a couple times, so Yami cursed him to constantly hearing music that is maddeningly loud for the rest of his life.

There was another guy who was shaking money out of other students, so Yami made him think leaves and dirt was money and he rolled around in it, permanently insane.

Or when Kaiba locked Jonouchi in a room with a literal serial killed who had a chainsaw and was actually trying to kill him, then Jonouchi lit him on fire or something.

OG series was pretty fucked up, and the weirdest thing is that in the manga it's all canon but they rarely reference things from it, like Kaiba literally attempting to murder them multiple times.

There's an AUTOMATED Yugioh player now? Shit, I've been using Dueling Network off and on, but it'd be nice to finally let the CPU do shit for me.

I wish the manga hadn't become all about the card game. The first few chapters of the manga especially were pretty fucked up, Yami was literally a Saw villain

I agree. I loved it so much when he was literally punishing people for being evil by beating them at their own games and giving them a fitting punishment. It was so boss. I wish they would have kept going.

That Yami Yugi turn out to be a dark Yugi who is hellbent on punishing the wicked.

The problem was that the wicked people he was punishing were most of the time just random teenage bullies and he ruined their lives forever. When they were actual villains it was great, but it felt a little weird when guy who cheated at rock 'em sock 'em robots got a worse fate than the guy who tried to kill someone.

All the talk of Shaman King, was it actually good? It used to be my favorite manga but I never finished it since I stopped buying Shonen Jump.

I kinda wanna go back and finish it but I fear it's gonna be total shit.

The art is still fucking awesome, though. Just look at that cool motherfucker.

Shaman King was awesome, it was a shame the ending seem like it was rushed. Heck even the anime theme song was amazing.

Yeah but at that point in the story. He was a high school kid in a high school setting. So having major villains would be out of place.

Still, I wish the creator of Yugioh would make a reboot manga where Yugi would fight major, sadistic criminals using penalty games and stuff like that.

I would read that.

The dialogue is awful to unprecedented levels, as while the characters do have personalities, at the same time, they don't feel like people. Just shouting retarded bullshit about the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!!! Teà was goddamn INSUFERABLE with that shit. Wouldn't shut up and at the same time couldn't wait to hop on Yami Yugi's D. "Joey wouldn't give up! I have to believe in the heart of the cards!"

Perfect description of Yu-Gi-Oh.

That stuff was unbearable. I was constantly cringing when watching it not that long ago.

Yami literally goes around getting revenge on bullies in ironic and dangerous games. He drives one guy insane, causes another to constantly see through a mosaic "censored" filter, another guy ends up with deafening pounding sounds blasting in his ears for the rest of his life or something, he literally plays a game with vodka and a lighter where the loser catches on fire and dies, and plays air hockey with a hot pancake grill ending in the victim suffering massive chemical burns.

That's the Shonen Jump I remember reading of Yu-Gi-Oh! Good, but fucked up, stuff.
