Is there an explanation for this shape in some Snes Cartridges?

H0ozJF6l.jpg

I never saw anything like this in pal / jp cartridges. The shape allows to remove them with the console on, but still can't understand it. Can it be related to the slim snes or something?

That's just what the carts looked like in North America.

I have a few NA carts, but I never saw this shape until I got these, all the other NA I bought had a notch for blocking the cartridge.

I've been googling about it, and Nobody seems to be sure about what was the reason. Some say it was to protect the hardware in case of a hot cartridge removal, others say it was a patents issue.

Weird. In my experience, this type of cart is much more common. I think the other type was only sold in the first year or two or so of the system's life.

I suppose it's my odd luck, always buying games of the first type until I got to these two ones. And fairly used to cartridges with the lock notch due to my PAL childhood

The notch was added to snes carts because people didnt like using the eject button. They were trying to just yank the carts out and breaking things. They added that groove later so they could be pulled out easily without the eject button.

Why are there no graphics cards that face up out there? My second PCIe lane would be perfect for such a card and that way, there would be greater point in buying a good looking card. Even if only a few of them would be manufactured, I'm sure motherboard manufacturers would start to accommodate them by simply putting the PCIe lane near the bottom of the motherboard instead of the top which would still work out for regular down facing cards. I could see people buying up facing cards even if they were more expensive, especially the more high end ones such as the 1080 and later Titan/1080TI.

I have just enough money in the 3DS eshop to buy one game. I can't decide between the following.

Picross 2
Lufia
Dragon Quest Wars
Adventure Bar Story

Can I get a recommendation?

Are there places where you can purchase copies of a game case?

I have only the cart of Infinite Space and want to get the game case with the packaging, even if it's a replica.

Quick one: anyone find the face buttons on their XBONE wireless controller to be a little... sticky, I guess? Like, once pressed they take a little longer to pop back out than they should? If so, any suggestions on improving it?

For the record, my controllers are all super clean, so I've not just spilt mountain dew down there.

how viable would it be to use a pc monitor as screen for a console?

One of my friends has been recommending me the Acer R240HY, but i'm not too sure

My plan is to use it with my wii u, since the Ps4 is in the big screen and I kinda want to use it in my desk (wii u)

Fore reference, here is the link:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0148NNKTC/?tag=neogaf0e-20

He also recommended me this one:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B17C5KO/?tag=neogaf0e-20

But that's a little over my budget.

its extremely possible but 1080p tvs are usually cheaper than monitors and much larger. and consoles are generally built with tv's in mind.

Can someone ELI5 what IQ is. I know it stands for Image Quality but don't understand what its referring to specifically. I'm happy with most terms when it comes to graphics etc... Just not this one.

Thanks

Wonder if this is new thread worthy but a Kong post.

Got a gaming laptop yesterday (Asus GL552V) now it is mainly for RTS and I know for that new games will probably play ok at low specs for a good frame rate but I have One and PS4 for that).

But I need to know:
1) I have all the command and conquers. What other RTS like that are worth my time?
2) I've become obsessed with fallout 4 on mods, anyone point the right place to find out how to make mods work and install them on PC for fallout 3, New Vegas and elder scroll games?
3) how do I work the Xbox one streaming

1) Supreme Commander comes to mind. Also World in Conflict not so similar to C&C but still a good RTS. Heres a list of good RTS's http://gameslikefinder.com/games-like-command-and-conquer/.

2) Nexus mod and community is a very good place for mods and help to install them are usually in the description of the mod. Nexsus mod manager is the way to go.

3) I can't help you with unfortunately.

Hope this helps a little.

I've been using a PC monitor for my PS4 and Xbox One since launch and I think it's great. The Acer monitor doesn't appear to have an earphone jack (unless I'm mistaken) and that's essential if you want to hear anything from the Wii U. What you do is you get yourself an audio cable that's available from a lot of hardware/computer stores and wire that from your monitor's earphone jack to the audio in connector on your PC so you can hear the sound through your PC speakers or headphones. The Asus monitor has an an earphone jack (and speakers of its own).

It's also important to note whether your PC uses a DVI cable or a HDMI cable to connect to the monitor because the Wii U will use up one HDMI slot and if the left over slot isn't compatible with the cable from your PC, then you have to use an adaptor.

Yeah, but TVs aren't built with consoles in mind.

They are with game mode.

- Why does falling through the floor/going outside of the intended environment through a glitch or whatever scare the everliving shit out of me? That's not common as far as I know, and it's always been that way.
- Why in God's name do so many people make such a huge deal out of Jill's Revelations face model?
- Do you prefer steel or lead?

Usually when I hear high IQ mentioned in the forums here, it means lack of aliasing or a sharp/detailed picture. Basically, think of a supersampled image. For example, Forza Horizon 2's IQ is better than Driveclub's even though the latter game is considered to have better overall graphics. This is because Forza uses 4xMSAA and Driveclub uses a post processing filter (which induces a little bit of blurring).

I can't find Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC on my PS Store (EU - Middle East region). Dying to play this on my Vita. Would get the Steam version except I'm a Mac.

What happened to it? WIll it come back?

IQ refers to a bunch of features of a game's visuals. Games with great IQ will usually have a very good anti-aliasing solution (to eliminate jaggies), a high level of anisotropic filtering (to ensure textures remain clear and sharp from any angle) and will often run at the highest resolution available on the platform they appear on (so in the current generation, 1080p).

Lots of things can contribute to a perceived "bad IQ". No or poor anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering, low resolution output, tech designed to upscale lower resolutions to 1080p, etc. Some people might stretch to include screen-tearing, poorly implemented effects (such as motion blur) and stuff like incorrect frame-pacing as well.

Thanks guys, you have definitely cleared it up for me.

How many Neptunia games are there?
Is there a particular chronological order to follow?
It's all with the same characters?
Is there a difference between the numerical entries and the ReBirths and Mk.2's?
Do all the games follow the same timeline?
Are there spinoffs?

All i know about these games is that they are RPGs, it has little girls and a new one comes out like every 5 months.

So...I just bought Far Cry 4 on PSN, only to realize after the fact that I got it for PS3 rather than PS4? How hard would it be to get a refund, or get it exchanged for the PS4 version?

Watch_Dogs

After watching the Driv3rGate video and learning that it started as the next Driver game, I want to play it now.

To the people who've played it on Wii U...

How is the Wii U version? Are the gamepad enhancements worth the loss of visual performance like Mass Effect 3?

Or, should I just get it on PC?

Not sure if its the right thread to ask but, did seth killian ever reveal what the hell that undiscovered secret was in Megaman 9? Or was that just marketing bull?

It didn't start as a Driver game, people in that thread covered that like 100 times.

Cool, thanks for letting me know.

I guess I'll look up the thread and search through it to find the info you just referenced in your vague, mildly demeaning response that didn't make any attempt to actually answer the question you responded to.

Edit: read the thread... The game engine was built for a Driver sequel, but Ubisoft decided no to make a new Driver game. So, they used the engine and assets they had already made and created Watch_Dogs instead. So yeah... It did start out as a Driver sequel.

Those people who "covered that like 100 times" were wrong.

If I buy a digital copy of a PS4 game that I already have on disc and is installed on my system, will the full game download or will it see that I have it installed and just give me license to play without having to have the disc inserted?

They shouldn't do that, but I know what you are talking about. A friend of mine bought a Quantum Break bundle that came with a white controller and right out of the box the A button would take a half-second to pop back up after being pressed. Felt like it was rubbing ever so slightly against the casing. He called MS and they replaced it, but it was brand new so definitely still under warranty - not sure what your warranty situation is.

I've had controllers go sticky from kids' spilling stuff before and most of the time wiping down with rubbing alcohol does the trick.
