This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Which is better: the PSN or XBLA version of Symphony of the Night? I've already purchased the XBLA version, but I don't keep my 360 in my apartment and I feel like playing it again.

The PSN version is exactly like the PS1 version. Because it is the PS1 version.

Right, but is it worse than the XBLA version? Am I going to get something out of playing that version as well? I'm just trying to talk myself into owning a second version for convenience.

I have Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem. Do I have any reason to own Mario vs. Donkey Kong March of the Minis or Mario vs. Donkey Kong: The Minis March Again?

So when they re-release arcade games like MK2 or UMK3 on current systems, they use the latest revision right?

You think they would ever release a version where you can just switch between any revision you want?

What is a good, recent racing game available on 360?

Preferably not too online focused.

(Serious, by the way)

Can someone make me a USB TurboGrafx controller for PC Engine PSN games? It's not a stupid question, I need one. There are some kits available but you need to do some programming and soldering, plus they are MagicEngine specific.

So how do you exactly pronounce Chill ( name of Portal 2's chick)

iirc Gabe in the dev commentaries said "Tshel" but all my friends ( no one of them is British unfortunately) said it's wrong-even when it's coming from Gabe himself - and it's should be " Shell" ....I think that wrong and I always thought "Ch" = Tsh" :/

So is "Tshel" the right way to pronounce Chill?

It's Chell, and we have to assume (although it's never explicitly stated) that it's short for Michelle. In which case, "Shell" would be a reasonable comparison. That said, putting a tch sound at the start strikes me as reasonable; it's his character, he gets to call the naming!

Any suggestions on a good site to pick up gaming related action figures, models, posters, plushies etc... I'm guessing Ebay is the best place but I wish there was an online store that I could just browse as I'm not even sure what I'm looking for.
Only places I know of for game figures is play.com and amazon.co.uk, half of the amazon stuff is from external sellers so prices vary a lot.

There are a couple audio lines that aren't actually in the game (afaik) where Glados says Chell. Click one of the clips on the page there to here them.

Does anyone who where I can find a list of all the different L.A. Noire pre-order bonuses? Its becoming impossible for me to figure out where I'm getting this game and which console to get it for.

Hmm. Is that NFS Shift game any good?
I played the first one about a month ago and had a good amount of fun with it. Love the cockpit view and the sense of speed is really good. AI can be a bit aggressive, but I learned to compensate for it for the most part. The single player is pretty lengthy and has decent variety. Split/Second is another good single player racing game, but it's much more arcade style.

in pikmin 2 if i destroy the water wraith on the final floor can i come back later and get the other treasures on the other sublevels without him appearing if i take too long?

Do JP PSPs automatically designate O as confirm and X as cancel, even on NA software, like JP PS3s do?
Yes, but games usually button configuration reverse to that games region once you boot up US games. So it's pretty much up to the game.

Sounds like the answer is actually "no" then.

How difficult would it be for a semi-savvy ROM dev/hacker to program a Game Boy Advance emulator to read and play a GBA ROM normally, but have it access and use a more advanced sound library sitting alongside the ROM files?

I own Final Fantasy VI for my GBA. I always play this version despite owning the original SNES cart too, because ultimately, the updated localization/script and bonus additions trump the crappier visuals/sound for me, but man, if it wouldn't be awesome to have the GBA Emu/ROM package use the SNES sound files instead.

Obviously, it's possible, but how much real work would it be?

I know someone did a "sound restoration" of FF VI gba, which supposedly fixes the audio to sound like the snes version. I haven't tried it myself though, so I can't say how well it works. They also did one for FF V advance.

How is it decided on who wants to make an OT for a game? What if two people want to make one for the same game, what happens?

How much is a PlayStation 3 60GB worth these days? Thinking about selling mine and picking up a Slim since PCSX2 is much more attractive for my PS2 needs despite being imperfect.

Usually it's the first one to the punch for smaller games. Otherwise, the bigger games usually have the OT discussed briefly in the latest thread of the game prior to release.

Just finished Broken Sword 3, it's not bad, but it's no where near as good as one and two. Is BS4 notably better?
I own it and have yet to play it, mainly because it requires me to boot with only one CPU core active so the textures of the characters aren't all solid black. At least on Windows 7. An when I say boot, I mean boot. You can't alt-tab out and change affinities to fix it. As far as I know, the game cannot handle multiple cores at all.
Aside from that, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say anything nice about it...

Awch, it's also not by the same studio and it has a different voice actress for Nico, I think I'll skip it, thanks for the reply.

No, it's not better than The Sleeping Dragon, it's the worst game in the series imho.

And I am not sure why they didn't returned to Shadow of the Templars and The Smoking Mirror style instead of this crap.

Another sour post. I think I'm safe to skip it then thanks. Time to finally get on with The Longest Journey I think.

just did a ps3 update. Speakers doesn't right. So I went into the wipeout game, and did the sound test. All speakers work, except that the lfe channel comes through the centre speaker. Can't hear anything through the sub-woofer. Is my sub-woofer gone or something?

edit: never mind. Faulty connection. Fixed for now.

In Halo Reach you earn credits from Firefight right? If so, I think I'll primarily play that to get credits instead of versus.

I got a slow pro duo MS from Sony that I bought back when PSP first came out. Will formatting with 64kb allocation unit size improve read/write speed much?

Lately my DS has been freezing when opening it up from sleep mode. It probably happens like once ever 20 times I open it, but still, it's annoying. This has happened with multiple games. Any ideas?

I just bought a 1600 XBL points card from a gas station. Am I correct in assuming these things don't even need to be activated? I've googled a bit and see that they're not distributing the old gift-card style cards anymore (store prints out a code when purchased), but they're still floating around in some areas. These would be the easiest thing to steal ever.

They have to be activated. It's why they don't bother locking them up in the first place.
