This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

My son is saving up for an Xbox 360.

We're waiting at least until E3 to see if there are any price drops, new SKUs, etc.

But of the current 4GB and 250GB models, is the hard drive the only difference? He'll probably only to be able to afford the 4GB, but if we were to get him the hard drive for Christmas or something, he'd basically have the 250GB version at that point?

I think the 4GB is matte while the 250GB is glossy, which makes the matte superior. But otherwise, I'm pretty sure they're exactly the same.

Why don't you tell him to save for the 4GB version... and for his hard work, you pay the difference and get the the 250GB...

He's at $144.xx right now. I'm paying him $50 to help lay mulch this weekend, which will get him almost to the current 4GB price.

I'm still hoping for a price drop soon, so we'll see how low the 250 goes.

I'm assuming it's just rendered graphics from a mathematical engine. The engine calculates the weight of the car, speed of the rotation of the tires, aerodynamic downforce, ect... So in that respect yes.

In reality... there are no tires /Matrix

Why everyone loves nintendo so much and hate then so much to the point of wanting then to change insanely their games so they can play it ?

You don't see people wanting the next Pro evolution soccer to be "gritty" or the next generic fps number 387 to be insanely new from ground up .... why the focus on nintendo ?
Hell ... all the sonic fans want is that they RETURN to being what the games were =P

Because the franchises are much older than the usual stuff you play and people feel they didn't evolve enough after 25 years. At least that's what I guess it is.

Check Amazon for deals. They always have something going with 360's lately. I just picked up the 4 GB for $199 with a $50 gift card and a $20 xbox live point card. I then bought the 250 GB hard drive for $90 separate.
If you want to wait till Christmas for the hard drive, you could always use a flash drive till then. I think you can use up to 16 GB flash drive which would be plenty of room for memory for game saves and be able to install whatever current game you're playing.
But at this point, wait till E3 and then decide.
 
How come console game developers don't give us the ability to assign each action to whichever button we want, as in PC games?

I don't get how it could be a hard thing to implement. And I'd LOVE it if it became a mainstream thing. (example: switching between R2 and R1 in PS3 shooting games)..

If you have a USB stick, you can transfer your save to that then plug it into the other system.
Alternatively if you have Playstation Plus you can sign into your account on your gf's PS3 and upload it to the cloud storage, then download it from there when you sign back in on your PS3.

Isn't there an analog button in the center? try pressing that. Just a guess. Otherwise the port is probably screwed.
 
How do you get a ps3 controller working on the pc version of sonic n sega all stars racing?
I have motioninjoy and ds3tool, emulating a 360 controller with ds3tool.

I've never had a problem with any game up until now, this game just doesn't seem to recognise it (and there are no options to rebind controls apparently).
 
Is there a way to sync PSOne Classic saves between the PS3 and the PSP? I'm going to be making some purchases once the store relaunches, and I'm wondering if I should start on the games now or wait until I get a PSP to play them on.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you can just copy them over.
 
How come there's no direct feed footage of 3DS games out there? There are official Trailers and stuff, but it seems like not a single gaming website can actually capture 3DS gameplay... Didn't Nintendo give out devices to do so or what's going on there?

Based on the warning screens you have to go through to be able to show a 2D feed of 3D video in a trailer, chances are they don't want developers to show a dimensionally reduced feed.

Well, but devs can do Trailers and stuff. I'm just surprised even a site as big as IGN has to use a video camera to grab some video footage of 3DS games...
 
I have 2 PSP's, both legit. The old one is near death so I got a used one off Craigslist. I tried to activate my PSN account on the new PSP and got "You cannot use Playstation Network on this account." I'm able to still connect on my old PSP just fine. I called Support and they let me know they can't check the exact reason due to the PSN issues, but most likely the one I got off Craigslist has a hardware ban on it, and there's nothing I can do about it even though it wasn't my fault.

So my question is, what won't I be able to do on the banned PSP? I assume I won't be able to play online... but how about Playstation Store once it's up? I think there's a way to buy PSP games on my PS3 and then transfer to PSP?

Not sure if this is gaming-related but I just received my Mortal Kombat tournament fightstick, and it's a real beaut. Apart from having to use this long-ass usb cable, that it.

So I got to thinking, is there some kind of wireless adaptor that can transmit usb data? There's a mini usb port on the stick itself and the PS3 has a normal usb port, is there any device that can enable wireless data transmission between the two?

Dumb question, I know.

Does anyone have a link to the Sonic the Hedgehog level that was recreated with really nice graphics?

If I recall it was only a video and it only had the first board from the first game. I'm pretty sure it was prerendered as well. Thanks in advance.

Sure, you can add your account to four other systems and download both digitally distributed games and DLC on there.

No, the downloaded content is tied your old account. If you delete the user, or inactive the account, it will stop working.

Dated 1/05/11, so it should have been refurbished already. That being said... that sticker shouldnt be on there anymore as they remove/replace it when sent back to the stores. I'd be a little wary myself.

I'm looking for a fairly current RPG/dungeon crawler in the style of Eye of the Beholder, but I want there to be complete character customization and lots of options for classes, not just picking an image to represent each character. Is there such a game?

Are you familiar with the Etrian Odyssey series? All three games are quite good. There are a lot of different classes to choose from and you can customize their skills in a multitude of ways. You might also want to consider Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey where you recruit different types of demons to fight for you instead of choosing classes, or the very old-school retro dungeon crawler The Dark Spire. All of the mentioned games are for the NDS. If you prefer playing on HD consoles then there is a new Wizardry game getting released on PSN soon.
 
Can someone recommend me a site (that's not Ebay or Craigslist) that I can find some cheap NES/SNES games? Preferably one located in the USA, since the games need to be NTSC format. I'm trying to rebuild the classic library that I sold in 2006 to pay rent. =(

Also, I've read conflicting stories about the NES Zapper not working on flat screen CRT tv's (not flat panel LCDs). I have a Zapper and a 34" Sony CRT Widescreen HDTV. I can't get the damn thing to work on Duck Hunt. Should I buy another Zapper? Or am I just SOL on it working with that TV? (It's a KV-34HS420 if anyone's interested).

All of those have premade characters/portraits though, right? I want to be able to create my own, or if on PC, import them.

Unfortunately, yes. I haven't heard of a good dungeon crawler being released for the PC since Wizardry 8 a decade ago. In Etrian Odyssey there are four pre-made portraits for each class.

Now for my question:

Can anyone tell me if the Gears of War Triple Pack is the regular game cases just in a box (a la the Devil May Cry Anniversary Collection and the Metal Gear Solid Essential Collection) or is it a new single case with all the discs just piled in there?

Okay, so we have one XBox 360 in my house. My brother plays a ton of games one it, but I only really play Rock Band. We also have a ton of Rock Band DLC on it, which has been downloaded over probably 3 different accounts. We once had so much stuff downloaded my brother bought the transfer thing and moved everything onto a bigger harddrive, which now has all his CoD, etc. stuff, and all my Rock Band stuff, which has been downloaded by multiple people. I'm planning on getting a new 360 to take to school so he can keep this one, but all I really want on it is the Rock Band songs I've downloaded already. Is there any way to do this?
