This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

hey gaming side fellas, i need your help! i'm trying to play Borderlands online with my brother.. when he hosts a private game, i'm not showing up on his in-game friends list as available to invite. same thing happens when i host a game - other friends show up, but not him.. but i know he's online. he shows up on the big main PSN friends list, just not the in-game one that it wants me to use to invite ppl to my game.

we both are playing GOTY edition and both have the zombie island bonus content installed. ideas?

How do you remove a Gamertag/account from an Xbox 360? I'm borrowing a 360 from a friend and I'd like to remove my gamertag before I give it back to him.

Roto13 - Simply go to settings, then storage space, and look under gamertags for your gamertag. Select your tag and delete it. Then next time you get an xbox just download your profile through the guide menu w/ your email and password information.

If you care about achievements, only delete your gamertag if you were connected to Live the last time you played on your xbox. This will ensure that you download an up-to-date tag when you download your gamertag on your next console.

If you care about achievements and there is no way for you to log into live to "sync" your achievements with Xbox servers then transfer your tag to a USB instead of deleting.

Very good. Thanks a lot. I knew it had to be in there somewhere but I didn't find it right away so I asked here. :P

My 60gb PS3 got the YLOD but I was able to get it working long enough (blow dryer trick FTW) to remove the credit card info and deactivate the system.

I put my credit card info on a older 80gb that I bought used off a friend but now I cannot buy anything from the store or add funds to my wallet. Get error 80023102 when trying to buy stuff and just a "you cannot add funds" when I try to fund my wallet. Same thing on my Vita.

Is there a step I'm missing. I rechecked my credit card info and even tried another card but get the same message. I don't remember a waiting period when you put a CC on file unless somethings changed since.

Is there a way to play NHL 94 on PS3?

There's the whole NHL 94 control option but they didn't include a 20kb ROM of the game?

If you have a BC PS3 I guess you can play it via the port included in the PS2 version of NHL 06, unless that is what you're trying, without succeeding.

How's The Orange Box on the PS3?

Played years ago on the 36. and didn't liked but kinda want to give it another chance only this time I only have a PS3.

The reported framerate issues are completely overblown. It's obviously not as good looking as the PC version but it's completely playable. The loading times are longer than the 360 version.

I played the shit out of it and have zero complaints.

Thank you, that sounds good enough for me, is very cheap anyway so I guess I lose nothing for trying.

Thank you.

anybody? i'm stumped. :(

I honestly can't really answer your question as I lack some knowledge in this field. However, my theory is that you and your brother sharing the same IP address could be the reason you can't connect to e.o's game.

I played Gunbound in the past, where i was at my friends house. Whenever we played together one of us would always dc, which we think it's bc we share the same IP address.

Another instance, at my dorm, we had 2 TV's, 2 PS3's, and 2 CoD:BO. We could not connect to each other's game (we could not see each other in the lobby) which we think is due two sharing the same IP, which is wierd bc before this incident, we were able to play fine.

Idk if there's a solution. That's just my guess, sorry.

Actually there is horrible sound issues on the PS3 version. You'll get occasional popping sounds, buzzing, static and white noise intermittently. It's really annoying and if you have a nice speaker setup it sounds like it could damage them (the popping sounds). The game is still playable but the sound glitches can be VERY intrusive.

There are crippling performance issues with TOB on PS3 in a couple of places. It's by far the worst version, but still of a mind blowingly incredible collection of games.

Damn it.

Well in terms of sound that is not a big deal for me since I don't have a HT or something.

Even in the most intense firefights the framerate wasn't anywhere near crippling. The only time I had significant/noticeable frame rate drops was random areas where there were no enemies around, like walking into a cave and it dropped for a few seconds.

I'm really not trying to persuade anyone, just giving my opinion but that's never happened to me on all my play throughs before and after the patch. I did throw a blade with the gravity gun and it made a grinding noise in Ravenholm until I reloaded a couple times though.

In all fairness it's the least desirable version, no doubt about that but for the price of admission it's still completely worth the price of admission and enjoyable nonetheless.

This is coming from a person that initially only experienced Half Life on a PS2 and PS3 before being able to try them on a capable PC.

I had a Nintendo Wifi adapter but it just died on me and i've looked up some of the prices for it on Amazon and they're up to $100 new. There are $45 and down used but i'm not sure i can trust those. Also, i checked Nintendo.com and it appears the device has been discontinued.

Anyway, since i got the Vita i've thought about getting one for it. But, now i might as well get one that works with all 3.

So, i was wondering if you guys could suggest a device that you use and provide a link to where i can order it? Also, i'm open to other alternatives.

Is the Million Dollar DLC pack for WWE All Stars free on the EU PS Store, or is it paid for DLC?

Also is the DLC on the disc in the Million Dollar edition?

Edit: I've never played a Far Cry game so apologies if this seems dumb. Does health automatically regenerate in Far Cry 2?

I recently nabbed a 48 hour XBL gold trial code and rented a copy of Halo: Reach. I thought that was a the best game to try since it was an Xbox exclusive. I played for a couple hours and in every damn game I played someone was camping. Underneath stairs, at the top of elevators, in little cubby holes in the architechture, etc. They seemed to have their favorite spots and some of the spots were hard to avoid. There were people just sitting there waiting for others to run by so they could pick them off.

So my question is this: Why do people camp in FPS games? I mean, really? Does it matter that much to some people to get cheap kills and come out on top of the leader board? Does that in itself give them a sense of accomplishment? Was it naive of me to expect otherwise playing in random public matches?

If they are coming out on top of the leader board by camping then they are winning and it is an effective strategy. So there is no reason not to do it.

You could get a wireless router.

Anyone know what kind of 360 this is? Or is this some modded mess?

Mod, no way MS would make something like that, I don't think any of their official designs have a window of any kind on it.

What's my best option as someone who doesn't own any Sony consoles for owning Metal Gear Solid 1? I've always wanted to own/play the series after dabbling here and there with friends' copies, but I'm much too broke to purchase a PS3. I've heard mixed things about the PC port, but is it my best/only option?

For the rest of the series, I was going to get the HD collection (I'll figure out MGS4 later).

Emulate it on PC? That might actually be better than the port.

Can anyone here recommend a good iPhone/iPad app that allows you to archive and keep track of your gaming library/collection? Right now I have "iCollect video games." pretty decent app, but buggy as heck, crashes often, doesn't sync properly with the web for back up.

I remember a GAF member launched an awesome app a while ago. Which one was that? And I prefer something that backs up your entries to the web or cloud to view and organize on your desktop browser while synching nicely with the idevice app.

Thanks.

Does anyone remember Babbages's video game stores from the early 90's?

They're early, fuzzy memories for me but what I remember is that the store was set up showcasing software/games in a boutique manner and the employees wore dress shirts and ties.

I want to know if it was actually like that or my brain is making shit up.

Does anyone know if Spider-Man: The Movie: The Game (-_-) has some sort of controller support on the PC? I've been buying a lot of Spidey games and want this game to look as good as possible :P

Aside from dedicated video ram, what aspects of video cards improves performance? (And more specifically, why are some models that seem less powerful more expensive than others?)

If you have a Gamecube or Wii you can play Twin Snakes.

Babbages employees wore tailcoats and were instructed to speak Victorian English. The store was dimly lit by candle sconces, and temperature was kept at a steady 68 °F. A phonograph played late-period Handel. The smell of jasmine and cedar was gently blown into the mall. Fine cheeses were offered as you were led into the quarters. And if you bought the $600 Neo Geo, the clerk would remove his glove, shake your hand, and shed a glimmering tear.

This mannerly decorum was standard practice, but greater ceremony was given for the launch of the Sega Dreamcast.

Here's a photograph taken on that very day. Let's walk inside and meet the host. And the proprietor himself.

How times have changed.

what does season pass mean? :(
It means you pay a lump of money upfront and you will get access to a lot of dlc in the future for less money. They usually state what content or how much to expect to get at the start. Its basically buying an almost blind bundle of DLC upfront at a discount, as opposed to getting them separately individually for more when they come out.

Whatever happened to the ESRB listing for that Splinter Cell HD trilogy set coming to Xbox 360?

How is that set on the PS3 by the way? Are the graphics improved at all over the PC versions? I've avoided picking the games up on Steam because I heard about lighting issues but then I've also heard those have been fixed.

With PS Plus and the summer sale, I'm thinking I really ought to upgrade my PS3 hard disk. I think I know basic specifications (2.5", SATA), but are there any pitfalls I should endeavour to avoid?

Since I cannot create my own topics yet:

I was wondering if you guys can recommend a Mac game that is similar to Hotel Dusk, Phoenix Wright, Broken Sword, etc. Basically mystery/detective games with great characters, storyline, interesting plot/sub-plots, and minimalist gameplay mechanics.

Thanks in advance.

PS3 question: I set some things to download and auto-download and turn off. I switched over to TV, so I didn't see what was on screen, but I heard a single beep, roughly a second long, and when I switched back over to the PS3, it was back on the XMB. I told it to auto-install and turn off again, and it did so without problem. I think it happened once before, but early-morning during an auto-(whatever it did that time). Does anyone know what it meant?

tl;dr a 1 second long beep came from ps3 - what does it mean?

The rule generally seems to be to go for the most basic possible. No energy saving drives as they sleep when not in use (leading to freezing while it spins back up), 7200rpm or SSD is wasted (IIRC) so go for 5400rpm, and there's something about the SATA mode (150 vs 300), but I don't remember specifics and I'm on my phone at the moment. the PS3 supports the SATA-150 and 300 modes, but will run them at 150 speeds regardless.

(Is a double post okay if it's 12 hours later and answering a question?)

Soo this might be a bit of a random question but would Valve mind if I lend my Steam account for a day to a close friend? I have a friend who wants to play Sleeping Dogs very bad but she doesn't have any money to spend on games till next month and since I'm away all day tomorrow I thought of letting her log into my account for that day. I'm just afraid if Valve might see it as a banable offense, does anyone have experience with this?
