This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

I need a jrpg for PS Vita

Oreshika or Tales of Hearts?

Both seem to have gotten good reviews.

Edit: Nevermind, there is now a demo of Oreshika. I'll try it to decide :)

Can anyone recommend me some shoot 'em ups with :
-Top down perspective
-Playable character that has a human appearance (so no game with spaceships basically)

I can only think of Touhou and Twinkle Star Sprites, but I need more to use as references.

If I register a physical PC game on Steam, can I keep playing the game digitally through Steam without the disc or do I need to have the disc to play?

Is there any site that collects the "splash screens" for PS4 games? As in the image it shows immediately after starting a game but before it actually boots, tends to be a piece of key art for the game and they almost always would make bad-fucking-ass wallpapers but 99% of games don't let you take a screenshot of it.

Ok, guys, every time I look at my shelves where I have my consoles, I can only see madness: cables madness. How the heck can I organize this disaster? I have these consoles plugged in: Nintendo 64, PS1, SATURN, DREAMCAST, PS2, XBOX, Wii, XBOX 360, PS3 and, the new addition to the family, Wii U. Plus a video recorder, a SCART to HDMI adapter and a HDD with external supply for the Wii U. I also have a similar problem with the controllers by the way, I do not know where to store them. For the moment, I keep them in an IKEA box. Sigh.

not sure if this will work for you, but I use large binder clips for the cables...it's still a bit messy, but it's all hidden behind my tv set up.. i guess really all the clips do is prevent tangles, less cluttered mess of random cables, and allows me ot easily identify which is which.

maybe use hollow tubing like hula hoops, foam, etc.

I'm pretty sure some Cave shmups are like that (I think I read someone ranting about this and that he preferred planes/spaceships, lol). First that comes to mind is the Espgaluda series.

Posting here since if I posted in the New 3DS thread it'd probably get buried quickly.

Has anyone tried doing that microSD card wireless connection to OS X instead of Windows yet? I could get it to work on my SP3 no problem, but no dice on my iMac.

Hi everyone I have an XBOX ONE external drive question hope it can be answered here..I have a Seagate expansion 4TB hard drive, when I turn OFF my XBOX ONE(I turn it always completely off) the external drive would always turn off and stay off til I turned it back on again..I notice at night, sometimes it will be around 4am between 7am, the external drive will just turn on, I will hear it humming from the other room and I can hear it turn on, then a few seconds later turn off, then a few minutes later it does the same thing again, now its off..its so weird because my wireless router is off at the time so what the heck is it doing? This all started with the new update that came out a few weeks ago I think this is somehow connected to that because I Never had this problem til the update came out, a hard drive shouldn't just randomly turn on and off for no reason, especially when there is no internet connection to actually receive anything its just strange
Hope someone can help me figure this out I appreciate it

Is it possible to swap A and B when playing VC games on the Wii U? I am playing Metroid Fusion and I always hit shoot when I want to jump.

Hey, are saves for the physical and digital version of a Wii U game shared? Google leads me to believe that is the case. I want to get the physical Splatoon version, but eventually switch to the digital release down the line and continue my progression.
Thanks

I'm pretty sure they are but haven't confirmed it myself tbh

Don't understand modern PC architecture all that well, so GAF help me decide which PC
Component I should upgrade 1sr in order to play GTA V at a reasonable framerate (30+) and at 1080p.

Currently have an aging Core 2 Duo E6700 with a GTX 650 with 4 GB RAM.

Will a 970 be enough to game at 1080p for me?

Yes, either hit the touchscreen on the gamepad (or press either ZL or ZR, I forget) and you'll go to the options menu. You can customize the controls for each connected controller from the proper menu (should be on the bottom). Swapping A and B is easy peasy

You are very likely to be bottlenecked by the CPU. Open world games especially seem CPU reliant. CPU is actually under the minimum requirements for GTA V. Might still run but probably poorly. I think your rig is due for a general upgrade.

Very simple question (I think) but I don't wanna ask in the main thread.

What's the problem with Angry Joe and Nintendo YouTube royalties? What's Angry Joe complaining about? I'm not sure what Nintendo's YouTube policy is.

Nintendo's policy is to claim videos with their games so they get ad revenue. Joe is Angry because they claimed his video. The reason it is a matter of contention is that Nintendo is pretty much the only gaming company that really does this sort of thing as well as arguments over what exactly they should be able to claim as "theirs."

Ah, so all the ad revenue from Angry Joe's video goes to Nintendo? Or is there a split?

Are PS4 controllers as expensive in other countries as they are in mine? It's basically $100 for one here. PS3 controllers are still going for like $50-$60 as well.

So if Angry Joe signs up then he gets 70% but because he hasn't signed up he gets nothing? Is that it?

Because he hasn't signed up his video gets taken down. And since the video is down he isn't making any ad money from it.
Edit: I am not sure what youtube's policy is on ad money that was generated from infringing content before the DMCA takedown. I would assume if you post somebody else's copyrighted work you won't be getting the ad money. So it is possible that the original copyright owner (this case nintendo) will get the ad money instead.

Almost correct to my knowledge. But the video is usually still available, just 100% ad revenue goes to Nintendo without the Creator's program. AngryJoe took it down himself.
Instead of monetizing, IP owners who are matched by Youtube's ContentID can also choose to remove the video, but this is not what happened in this case.

I just want to clarify, not turn this into a surrogate discussion thread though.

So upgrading my PS3 hard drive was pretty easy, but only after I had the new one all set up and my backup restored did I realize that I'd forgotten to sync the trophies on a secondary account that my nephews use when they're visiting. All their save games are there, so that's not an issue. I'm not sure they'd even care about trophies since they only use my PS3 for a little while during the few times a year when they visit, but I'd like to restore them if it's not too difficult.

If I was to pop out the new hard drive and put the old one back in, would the PS3 just treat it as if I'd never actually upgraded it and immediately recognize the old drive as normal? I'm worried that it would instead think that its original hard drive is a new one and demand it be formatted, and then that the new one would do the same once I put that back in.

Why do games like GTAs or Elder Scrolls speed up the day cycles? One hour lasts about 10 minutes - I think I kinda hate that.

EDIT: Unless Nirn spins faster than earth thats understandable, but there's no literature saying this. And as for Los Santos - a replica of LA...what happened there?

Many players only have time to play games at specific times of the day. As an example, with a realistic day cycle I would only experience the world of Tamriel in darkness since I mostly play games late in the evenings. That would lock me out from many quests and make it a lesser experience. I like having visual variety in my one-hour play sessions.

That makes sense, but incorporating time-zones options would alleviate that, I think...

After watching Matt and Pat (of Super Best Friends Play fame) play through Silent Hill 2, I wanted to try some of the games in the series. However, I don't have my PS2 with me at the moment, so I thought I could try renting one of the PS3 games from Gamefly. Gamefly has 3 Silent Hill games for the PS3; Downpour, Homecoming (medium availability) and the HD Collection.

My question is, are any of these worth playing? I've heard plenty of horror stories (no pun intended) about the HD Collection, but others say that some of the issues were patched, and it's playable now. Of course, I realize there's a difference between "playable" and "worth my time".

It seems tricky, since I've never played a Silent Hill game before (Just P.T.), but I watched an entire playthrough of 2. Pat pointed out some of the negative graphical changes that would be in the HD version, but I don't think that would bother me too much.

Anyways, if anyone could suggest what order I should rent these in (if at all), or any other Silent Hill games I should look out for, I would appreciate it. :-)

Thanks - I'm gathering there isn't a way to do this on 3DS, though?

You know how, when you've used a keyboard for a long time, you wear down the ink on the keytops so you can't read them?

I've gone one better: I've worn through the plastic on the keytops. And with keys that have been hanging on by slivers of remaining plastic for a while, finally one has broken off.

This has led me to think that I probably should buy a new one, at long last. And it's probably worth looking at gaming ones. I'm not enough of a PC gamer for it to be worth going for a massively high-end product, but does anyone have any recommendations for a good quality board in the £50-£80 bracket (That'd be around $70-$110).

I don't need it to be drowning in functionality, but durability is a must, and there's probably a few features that I would benefit from with a gaming keyboard that I don't have right now.

I'd suggest avoiding anything Gaming branded and just get a solid mechanical keyboard. Tend to be higher quality all around and the keys tend to be easier to replace if ever needed. On the expensive side but you can find them for around 100 bucks on the low end (or when a mid one goes on sale).

I'd suggest emulating 2 and 3 or tracking down the PC versions. They're not available digitally but there's been threads here dedicated to getting things going like this http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=488899

Play in release order. Downpour I'd only recommend if you end up being a big fan of the series and want to see how it peters out.

As it happens, the one I'm replacing is a mechanical one from the era when that's all that was really out there, I'm certainly a bit more comfortable with that form factor.

I'm in the USA. I ordered Remember Me on 360 from an amazon 3rd party seller (my wife and I adore Life is Strange so we decided to give this a spin). The back of the (sealed) case is all in Spanish. The cover and spine say NTSC but I just want to make sure, this game will play on my 360, right? Also the text and spoken dialogue will be in English?

Thanks for the input! I have a decent PC gaming rig, and some good used game stores nearby that aren't named Gamestop, so maybe I'll try tracking down the original Silent Hill series for emulation.

I'm looking for a new gaming headset for PS4, and I'm torn between the PX22s and the Stealth 400 Premium.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Turtle-Beach-Stealth-Wireless-Playstation/dp/B00KSQAACO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1428608209&sr=8-1&keywords=turtle+beach+400P

Anyone have any experience with both headsets? I'm kinda leaning more towards the 400Ps because they're wireless, but I've heard very good things about the PX22s.

I love streaming my music thought the xbox when playing MP. Anyone know if the Xone has the ability to stream music from my computer like the 360 did? I looked for an "ap" but didn't see any that sounded like it would.

thanks for any help.

I'm not sure if there's a specific thread for this, but I'm having some trouble with my 3DS and transferring data from the original SD card to a new 32gb SDHC that I bought. I took the original card, put it in my computer, copied all the contents over, and then pasted them into the SDHC. When I put the SDHC in my 3DS, however, none of my games pop up. The pictures are still there, so some things copied right, but my games aren't there. I could redownload them, but I'd like to just copy them over since that's faster. Am I doing something wrong?

Did you format the new card before making the transfer?
