This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Alright, I think I just fucked myself up. Basically, I'm moving so I was trying to get rid of my stuff.

I have a USB 8GB plugged in the 360, configured it, moved my profile and games saves from my 360 to the USB. All fine. I have few game saves on my other 360, so I tried to sign in from my profile on the USB but when I plugged the USB device in the other Xbox, it just doesn't read the USB anymore.

The only option I get now is the 'configure USB'. When I use the USB on the PC, it shows the Xbox file with 7GB filled.

Any ideas how I can recover all my games saves from the last 5 years?

Thanks and this sucks ass.

Is your other 360's FW up to date? I heard that they allowed the Xbox to read bigger capacity USB drives with a relatively recent update.

Oh fuck, I don't think it is. The 360 where I formatted the USB is not up to date where as my backup 360 is.

The thing is, when I plug the USB into the 1st 360, it still doesn't read the USB, only option I get is configure.

So I totally blew my load on the idea of the Star Wars 360 bundle, and traded in my current 360 because I hardly use it. But now i'm in a stupid position because I thought of a gamer tag that I want but have no system to register it. Is it possible to make a silver account on a friends system, and then just recover it when I finally get my system back?!

You could do that, but I'm pretty sure you can create a tag online at Xbox.com.

...why don't you want the gamertag you had on the original 360?

Anyhow, I have two questions, fairly different from one another:

* The 3DS came with a 2GB Toshiba SD card. Anyone know what speed it is, or how to find that out? I've got a few 4GB cards knocking around I might want to replace it with, but possibly not if they're significantly slower.

* I'm looking to purchase a flightstick. I'm tempted by this one (link). Good choice, or should I look elsewhere?

re: Dead Space Extraction

Is there a way to see whether I have found the upgrades/logs/weapons on a particular stage, OTHER than beating the stage and seeing the stats afterwards?

In gta iii/vice city/san andreas, the driving is based on the pressure sensitivity of the ps2 controller.

For some reason, it feels like I can never get the cars to go top speed unless I press the X button REALLY REALLY hard. This hurts my thumb after about 2 minutes of straight pressing, and I can't help but think this will destroy my controller in the long run (if it's not already messed up)

Does anyone else have this problem? Do you guys feel the same way? or is my controller messed up? Should I be worried?

Does anyone know if the old Tomb Raider games (from 1 to Angel of Darkness) are available digitally anywhere? Tried Steam, GOG and Gamersgate and they aren't there :/

Is Trackmania United Forever worth getting after playing Nations Forever for a while?

I'd say yes. Stadium is great, I grant you, but the other six environments bring their own very unique feel to the game. That said, it's worth pointing out that the vast majority of servers are, alas, Stadium-only; in part thanks to Nations.

Just to clarify, I can choose what I want linked to my account via the download list? I don't want most of the items from the code on my download list or my system.
Yes, their is a men list of items that you choose to download

-Who own BloodRayne IP/rights ? did Majesco they sold it?

I just saw the awful awful piece of shit BloodRayne The Third Reich (another Uwe poop movie) and there is no mention of Majesco in the intro or the ending Credit.

and if Majesco still own it..

-Why they keep giving the license to fucking Uwe Boll?

Maybe he's the only one who wants to make the movies?

I'm fairly certain this is a stupid question:

I'm trying to enable DMZ for my 360. In the DMZ section in the settings for my router, I check enabled, but then there are two areas on the page - "Source IP Address" and "Destination".

There's a box to enter an IP for both of them. Can I just check the box for "Any IP address" in the source IP address section and then the destination would be the IP of my 360?

Majesco still has Bloodrayne, and will be publishing the fantastic looking Wayforward developed Bloodrayne Betrayal in late August.

As for Uwe Boll, I don't know. Maybe someone in Majesco is related to him? Maybe Boll saved the President's daughter from tapeworms? Frankly, it shouldn't matter. Let's ignore his shit movies and pretend they don't exist. Maybe he'll go away.

ISTR there was a thread devoted to the identification of old obscure games that people half-remember but can't remember the title of. Anyone know that thread or should I just use this one?

I remember seeing this Japanese game on Youtube that has a 1/5000 or something chance of showing a red wall of text (something like turn off this game now) when you start the game? Any idea?

Dear NeoGaf and the internet as a whole,

Does anyone know what Madden 12 for Wii looks like?
Honestly, I'm surprised that there is even a version set for release, but sure enough, it is. Thing is, I won't touch it if its still fathead bowl. Anybody have any insight?

Screenshots on Amazon look promising. Not sure if Wii, though. Its hurting my head. The screenies don't look PS3 and 360 quality, but they're 1280 by 720. They also have D.O.F. and decent lighting. Help!

Those are PS3/360 screens. Look at the grass.

Ugh. Yeah, that. Also, just looked at the images for the other platforms. Same exact shots.

Still, the question remains. What does the Wii version look like? I should just save the money and trouble and go buy a used copy of '05.

What's the name of that website where'd you put in your Top 25 games or so and then it consolidates the Top Games based on user rankings? You have your own profile and everything, and all I remember is that Dan "Shoe" Hsu has an account there.
Searching for 'Top 25 games user ranking dan shoe' yields this as the first result in Google:
http://bitmob.com/articles/discover-the-bitmob-communitys-top-ranked-games-with-unikgamer

Maybe that's just funny to me, but when I read 'unik gamer', the first thing that came to mind was eunuch gamer...

I could have given you a 'let me google that for you' link, but I didn't feel snide enough then. I will accept your thanks, begrudgingly. Nothing against you personally, I just feel dirty for enabling you and your ilk of search inept web folk. ...Fie!

Seriously though, use search engines, people. Only address fellow man if the machine fails you. Don't wait for some schmuck like me to be your search engine monkey.
I'd say we put this in the OP, but nobody reads those. Sigh.

Which PC Game should I play. I bought a bunch of these during various sales and haven't touched any of them yet. (except for GTA4 and Mass Effect which I played on 360)

You have some great games there. I'm a big big fan of the STALKER series, so that gets top billing from me. Install the complete mod ( http://artistpavel.blogspot.com/2009/04/stalker-complete-2009.html ) and give the game a shot for a couple hours. The first hour or so is notoriously off-putting just because you are so underpowered but if you can get past that and the fact the game is a little rough around the edges you will be rewarded with an excellent experience.

I played the Max Payne series recently too and was kind of amazed at how tight of a package MP2 is. If you want more of straight up shooter/run and gun kind of game with solid mechanics you can't go wrong with either of them.

And of course the Half-Life episodes are basically required gaming at this point. But they can be played through in a fairly short amount of time so they won't really get in the way of playing anything else, so to speak.

Please don't dogpile me for this... LOL

I am relatively new to PC gaming and decided to jump in and play some games on Steam. Being a console monkey, I am having the hardest time using a keyboard and mouse on games like Team Fortress 2. I'm miles better than I was a week ago, but if I see a scout circling me, I freak and lose track of my WASD buttons and die looking like a doofus.

Is there a way I can connect my spare Dualshock 3 and use that to help ease the growing pains a bit? And is there some kind of universally accepted configuration for FPS's on Steam? Or is this blasphemy and I just made an ass of myself?

Blasphemy here and you'll made an ass of yourself playing an online competitive fps on PC with a pad for yourself and on the server.

Just saying this for your own good, because you'll most likely to learn this the hard way and trust me, it's nothing you can do with a pad against a mouse online. Just do try it, it's like playing fair square against people using aim bot and wall hack. Nothing but frustration.

A controller is unlikely to help with that, as your turning speed would impair you even more, no? That being said, I've put dozens of hours into TF2 and scouts still walk all over me if they do get close. Someone who's put hundreds of hours into the game can probably help you more with general strategies. My personal policies are to just run the fuck away tactical retreat, hope for a team mate or turret nearby or, ideally, to kill them before they get close. All of which, of course, is easier said than done, but practice makes perfect.

There is (http://www.motioninjoy.com/download), though I don't think it's going to ease the growing pains so much as prolong them. I'd say go KB+M only and force yourself to rely on it because with a pad you'll be at a clear disadvantage.

I'm posting my little rant/question in here cos I can't make a thread yet... (plus someone is likely to post a reasonable reply that makes me look stupid so yeah, here seems like the place to be).

Where the fuck are these games?!..

- TimeSplitters 4
- NFS Underground 3
- Star Wars Battlefront 3

Don't Crytek/EA/etc. realise that they're ignoring titles that are pretty much guaranteed to rake in millions?

TimeSplitters is easily one of, if not THE best console FPS franchise that hasnt made the generational jump yet... Underground 1 and 2 made NFS (and arguably all racing games) what it is today... Battlefront 1 and 2 are the most successful SW games by far...

I don't get it. I honestly don't.

I would go with The Witcher or STALKER, those were the first two games I played when I got my PC last Winter and they're both pretty damn good.

The Witcher starts off slow but it's an quality WRPG with some solid writing and tough choices.
STALKER is one of the best FPS games ever, it's not for the weak of heart but I appreciated it's open endedness and it has some super intense firefights.

Been trying to connect my PC to a new HDTV I just bought and cannot get it to work. My PC seems to have an HDMI out, but I don't get any signal. Is there a way to check if the HDMI port is functional or just there for future upgrade? Is there something I'm supposed to do to enable it?

My graphics card is a Raedon HD 4600 and I'm on Vista if it matters.

Update your driver to the Amd radeon. Or try plug it into another HDMI input on the tv?

You've already hightlighted the right choice.

Wanted some feedback on Final Fantasy XII. I might pick it up, since I never played it and I read its battle system is something worth trying out. For the record, I disliked FFX because of story reasons, got bored with FFXIII, but have recently spent over 80 hours with DQIX.

Re FF12: I liked the battle system a lot but the story is pretty much worthless. There are some cool side quests with "marks" that will put the battle system to better use than anything in the campaign so you don't even really have to play through the whole thing if you don't want to.

Thanks, man. I'll probably pick this up today or tomorrow.
