This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Yes, they did. Maybe you should get a Backloggery account or something to keep track of your games?

Backloggery seems like it's just a website to track games you've played. I know I played it, and was fairly certain where I got it from. I need something that will allow me to redownload it easily if I wipe my system.

Found it, It's not in my gamefly website purchase history, I had to download the gamefly app, view my history in a certain way (has to be list view, others wont work) in order to download. Tempted to rebuy on Amazon just so it's easier to track.

In Grasshopper Manufacture's iOS game Frog Minutes, how do I get achievement 43: "Now a lot of critters that a certain species of frog likes to eat can be found on the field"?

Stupid question but I can't find an answer anywhere... It's the only thing I have left to do in the game.

A while back, there was a thread here about some online game that showed you screenshots, and you had a limited amount of time to type in the game's name. Does anyone have a link to that?

My question is sort of gaming related... So in my PC I have a shitty 8400gs graphics card, I've been given a free 9600 gt which I can put in there, but how much of a bump to my electric bill am I going to see if I do this? I won't be gaming constantly, but the PC is on a lot of the time, will there be any difference in power usage when it's just being used for the usual web browsing etc? It would be nice to use it to play a few games, but our household has a fairly tight budget so I can't really justify it if it bumps up the electricity costs a lot. Thanks in advance for any help.

Here's a power and cost comparison chart. The 9600GT uses quite a lot more power.

So, I didn't exist yet during the 80's (and don't have experience with drugs), and I was wondering what drug specifically the style of Hotline Miami is conveying? Coke, heroin, acid?

Did anyone else notice the NeoGAF shoutout by Michael Pachter in the Adam Sessler (Rev3games) interview part two?

Now I've watched it yes.

Patcher gets a lot of flak on here sure. But he does say a lot of stuff, dumb bits get taken out of context a lot and people fly off the handle. If you look at what he is saying about Skype, I still think he's wrong, but I see his point and it's a reasoned argument.

Hey GAF, I have a sort of gaming question, sort of bluray player question.

I'm using my PS3 to play a bluray, I'm not on the 3DTV, and the bluray should be playable in 2D, it says it is on the back, but I can't get it to get to any menu to select a 2D version, it seems to launch as if it thinks I can view 3D and could select 2D later. The film is Dial M, and it does say in the back it can play in 2D. Any ideas? Is there some 3D menu I have to deactivate?

EDIT: Never mind, sorted it. For anyone with the same thing, it was just because when I had it on the 3DTV, it must have synced to it, so it thought I was still using the same TV, so I just had to sync the HDMI again.

Is it alright to play Bioshock Infinite without having played the others?

From what I understand it's almost completely unconnected to the other two games; is that true?

I have a Witcher 2 question/help needed post as well.

So, I haven't legitimately played Witcher 2 for about a year for some reasons. I want to get back into it, but I'm a good bit into it, and I'm not sure if I want to start over and do all that stuff again. I'm in Flotsam, and the last quest I have set to do is called "In the Claws of Madness."

Should I start over? Anyone have a good short sum up to refresh me on events?

You don't remember, like, anything? Why? I played it two years ago and still remember everything. Basically, a witcher killed the king, you somehow became a suspect, but the chief of intelligence believes you might be innocent. And so you, the intelligence chief and a hot sorceress who is also your fiancee secretly get on a boat and go to the middle of nowhere, where things happen. Namely, you meet some rogue elves and their charismatic leader then take part in the conflict between these elves and people of the town. You're also tasked with killing a huge beast with tentacles.

"In the claws of madness" in a sidequest about an abandoned asylum inhabited by ghosts.

Thank you! A lot of shit was happening with me when I was playing Witcher 2 last time, as I would never usually just drop a game out of nowhere, so I guess that I just completely forgot about it. It literally has been a year since I've played the thing at all.

Moderately funny picture. Moderately worrying analogy though. They're companies, not friends, or even people. Most look pathetic when they become endeared to constructs, either for their adoration or their scorn when they are inevitably 'wronged'.

We all know Microsoft and Sony have quality assurance policies that all games must fulfill, like not having UI inside overscan areas of the screen etc. Are these things public knowledge and if so, where can I look at them?

They are part of the dev resources, and all parts of the dev resources are restricted under terms of the dev licence, IIRC. They also change fairly frequently - I can recall a bunch of things from them from my time in dev (usually the ones which were a pain to comply with!), but even though I'm now out of NDA, I'm not sure how any I would recall match up with the current restrictions.

I see, that's a shame :( It'd be nice to get some warmup on such things during my own gamejams and/or portfolio material as to not get too shocked during proper projects. But if that's not viable I suppose I'll just do my own thing :) Thanks.

I'd like to get my 360 online. Is there a reliable wired-to-wireless bridge out there that is less expensive than the $50 official wireless adapter?

I don't have a laptop/extra computer lying around to bridge the connections via PC and have no extra networking equipment.

(...I seem to remember the official adapter being way more than $50 the last time I tried to find an alternative.)
Just in case someone else is looking for an answer to this at such a late stage:

Order this router from NewEgg when it is on sale for $14.99. Take five minutes out of your day to flash it with this DD-WRT build and follow these instructions to make it into a client bridge.

Why is it such a chore to see the bigger size of pictures on this forum? On Chrome if you click a picture, it makes it bigger but for only as long as you hold down the mouse button. This makes it impossible to scroll. Most forums just allow you to click the picture once to see its full size and it stays that way until you click the picture again. It is annoying having to open new tabs for every single full size picture.

:edit Also tried it on IE10, same behavior.

It stays big if you click a picture, then move your mouse a little bit while holding the left button down. At least for me.

Weird, it doesn't work like that for me. I can't get the bigger pictures to stay big. As soon as I let go of the left mouse button the pictures minimize again. Tested on latest versions of Chrome and ie 10. Neogaf didn't used to work that way. I can't be the only person with this annoying issue =(

edit: will test on firefox later

What I said was actually on Firefox and Chrome doesn't work that way for me too (I thought it did until I checked). Seems to be a browser specific feature then.

So I've got a 360 that was replaced during Microsoft's big "repair all RRODs" period, so it's what, 3 years old? Back in 2011 I got a new PC and my xbox has only been used intermittently since.

Tonight I was in the mood for some Geo Wars 2 and played for a while. I actually thought to myself how great the resolution, frame rate, and responsiveness are on this game. Well, after about 30 minutes, I start to see significant screen tearing. I can't imagine why this would happen. System's off now... maybe later it won't happen again. Was it the GPU overheating or something? Any theories?

I already downloaded a NFS:MW pass and I sold the game after I completed it.

I'm now thinking of getting it again for the dlc. I'm alright with a second hand copy with no online pass, right?

Do you play with subtitles on or off?

I feel as though playing with Subtitles on ruins the immersion, but has the benefit of knowing everything they're saying.

On, all the time. I'm not American and sometimes I don't understand a VA without them... I'm also used to it becuase of subtitled anime.
