This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Can you back up 3DS data by plugging the SD card into a computer and just copying the files?

I just picked up Virtue's Last Reward and fear the save file corruption glitch

Does getting a PS3 [Original Phat model with BC] reballed give it much more life?

I.E. is it worth it?

I'm debating between getting it reballed or buying a slim version as I still want a good PS3

The old phatty still works but I can tell she's hurting. Has some weird color issues in BLOPS2 that made me think it was getting close to death

I don't know if we have a thread for "games that are like X", so I'm posting here.

I've been playing that Neverwinter MMO a bit lately. The combat is fun, the exploration is fun, the dungeons are neat, the depth is there...Also, I really loved the combat of TERA and Guild Wars 2.

The problem? These are all MMO's.

Are there any single-player PC games that have that MMO feel (in terms of scope, combat, etc), that aren't Diablo/PoE/Sacred/etc?

Quick question here, just got myself a of Mario 25th anniversary for the Wii from amazon and its supposed to be brand new. Is the box supposed to be sealed completely or just that seal lip? Want to make sure I didn't get screwed here..

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning comes to mind. It very much feels like playing a MMO.

I was playing Armored Core: Verdict Day and my PS3 started making some beeping noises. Basically sounded like the beeping noise it makes on start-up but played in rapid succession. Anyone know what this means? It's not about to die on me is it?

Is it American? I got one brand new here in New Zealand and there were not seals on it at all.

Yeah its american, the box itself isn't wrapped with the plastic wrap but it has a lip seal on the edges. I thought the whole thing was going to be sealed with plastic I might be wrong.

Ok, I figure this is as good a place to post this as any!

So, I won an Xbox One through a Canadian contest.

Yaaaaaaaaay!!!!

I need some advice though.

I wasn't planning on buying either console for the next couple years at least. But I was certainly leaning strong in the PS4 camp.
I also recently built a PC that will play all multiplats for the next couple of years at higher settings than either console.

I certainly don't mean to look a gift horse in the mouth, but should I sell the xb1 and buy a ps4 with the money?

That's the console I was planning on buying eventually. And it looks like XB1 is being listed for around $700 on CL in my city, so I could buy a ps4 when it's in stock and have cash to spare. Though, the XB1 will probably only ship after Christmas, so it might not go for quite that much by then.

Or... I could keep the console and proceed with my original plan of getting a ps4 later, have both consoles and just enjoy my good luck :)

A very happy dilemma to be sure! Just thought I'd run it by you guys. Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm sure someone around you would love to buy an Xbox One, and you would get your PS4. Everyone wins in that scenario.

Just a guess that seems normal for US stuff to me. I don't think I've seen a console box shrinkwrapped or otherwise fully sealed before. Hope that helps!

Its actually the game not console but I think you might be right, searched unboxing vids on YouTube and it doesn't seem to be shipped shrinkwrapped.

Ah okay that makes more sense. Just looking at a couple of eBay auctions for new ones, they just have the sticker seal over the lip, so you are most likely fine :)

Guys, I want to get a xbox360 controller to play on my PC, a friend has a few of them due to red rings. He said he doesn't have the adapter. What is the cheapest way to do that?

when it comes to game releases componies always talk about Q1,Q2,Q3 or Q4. So when exactly do they start. Which period is Q1 exactly, anybody knows?

Just started playing Xenogears on my Vita. Why do people say its "doesnt hold up well after all these years"? I"m personally LOVING it so far.

Is the significance of 60 FPS only in the fact that it works better with a monitor's refresh rate than, say, 40 FPS? When G-sync comes along and the refresh rate is based on the framerate, might that lead to a trend of aiming for 40-50 FPS with higher graphics instead, or will 60 still be the goal?

Maybe on PC versions of games? Highly doubt G-Sync will make its way into standard TV sets and as such console games will continue to shoot for locked 30 or locked 60 if they're not crazy

Can I be logged into my ID on PSN from both a PS3 and PS4 at the same time?

Why: My son has been playing FFXIV under my name on my PSN ID on PS3.
I'm going to give him my PS3, and play FFXIV on my PS4 come March.
(I believe if you upgrade for free, you void the PS3 version. So I would just buy PS4 FFXIV again, so I (he) can keep using the PS3 version.)

He's invested a lot of time into his character, much more than I have.
But I'm not going to just give him my PSN account with all purchases and my friends list, and restart from scratch.
I wish I could move his character onto a new PSN ID, so he could continue to play FFXIV online on PS3 while I'm on my PS4. But I'm sure that's pretty much impossible, even if I inquired to Square Enix.

I knew early that I should have set him up with his own account, but I was lazy.
I have a feeling the answer is "no", but really wish there was some kind of work-around to this.

I've only played Uncharted 1 and Golden Abyss (each for about 2 hours before getting tired of them)

Each game consisted of climbing on things, swinging from ropes, and shooting bad guys in scripted set peices, in repetitive looking environments.

So I have 2 questions.

Are 2+3 like these games at all?

And why do most people put 2 on their greatest games of all time list. Doesn't GAF hate these kinds of games?

I'm really trying to see the magic here, but these games just seem like generic TPS with some exploration and I have no idea why they are so praised.

Does Dragon Age II require the Exiled Prince DLC to platinum? They're not marked with a + on the trophies screen and that's kind of bullcrap if it is.

A) You haven't made it to the platforming parts, I take it?
B) Disc 2.

Quoting for the new page.

Also, I have another question.

I REALLY don't feel like paying upwards of $40 for a copy of Lunar Silver Star Story on the PS1,

so is the PSP version (Harmony) worth it? Does it do the working designs version justice?

PSP version is terrible from everything I've heard.

Uncharted has awesome set pieces. Yes, it's scripted to hell, but the technical level of such scenes is very high.

There's a chopper scene in the start of u2. It's pretty much one of the most awesome scenes of all time. It's like a AAA movie, except you are playing it.

Shambala is another great moment. Pretty scenery.

And the shooting mechanics are not that bad. The platforming is like that prince of Persia 3d game reboot everyone loves.

Plus it has great humour. It's based on the movies similar to Indiana Jones and Romancing The Stone. Uncharted 2 specially. The great writing and performance by the actors is charming, Nolan North is a suave sob.

If I buy a pre-paid PSN card and it says it's invalid, what's the correct course of action? Go back to the store I bought it from? Or call Sony?
