You need to scout early in each match with an SCV. If you don't see his first pylon when scouting he is trying to cannon rush or proxy you. When you see this you need to build an early barracks and have your first marine and a couple SCVs kill the cannon as it's being warped in. Alternately you might be able to just kill his probe as he enters your base area with all of your SCVs but that only works if he sucks at micro.

Okay. I can see what I did wrong. I usually scout after I get my first Depot up (first thing I build after I get 8 workers trained and 3 workers being built). Then I get my barracks next. When I went to scout he had a pylon up with a forge being built. I guess I should've sent all my SCVs at that time (barracks was still being built)... I get so frustrated over that :lol

i accidentally shot myself in the ankle with a BBgun about..maybe 6 years ago and its still there. i brought it up in conversation and someone was saying that the BBs are made of lead.....i know that cant be true but it made me start thinking....

what are they made out of and does anybody know if they could do any damage being in the body long term??

I would say any foreign object lodged in the body would be damaging and dangerous. (although I guess you've made this far with no problems :D)

Having said that, google says bb pellets tend to be steel with a copper coating.

yeah, iv had no problems with it and it never hurts...theres also no discoloration or anything like that. im just scared that its slowly poisoning me or something :lol

if i had money id have it cut out at a doctors and im not ballsy enough(or stupid) to cut it out myself....

For the whole calories in vs burned debate, does your body absorb 100% of the calories when you eat? Is all excess energy stored, or does our fecal matter contain calories?

Just something I thought about while taking a dump the other day.

Our body isn't a perfect system. There's plenty of energy waste, and things that aren't digestible that still contain caloric energy. Beyond that, energy efficiency changes from person to person, and even hour to hour within one person.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_energy#Energy_usage_in_the_human_body said:
The human body uses the energy released by respiration for a wide range of purposes: about twenty percent of the energy is used for brain metabolism, and much of the rest is used for the basal metabolic requirements of other organs and tissues. In cold environments, metabolism may increase simply to produce heat to maintain body temperature. Among the diverse uses for energy, one is the production of mechanical energy by skeletal muscle in order to maintain posture and produce motion.
The conversion efficiency of energy from respiration into mechanical (physical) power depends on the type of food and on the type of physical energy usage (e.g. which muscles are used, whether the muscle is used aerobically or anaerobically). In general, the efficiency of muscles is rather low: only 18 to 26 percent of the energy available from respiration is converted into mechanical energy.[10] This low efficiency is the result of about 40% efficiency of generating ATP from food energy, losses in converting energy from ATP into mechanical work inside the muscle, and mechanical losses inside the body. The latter two losses are dependent on the type of exercise and the type of muscle fibers being used (fast-twitch or slow-twitch). For an overall efficiency of 20 percent, one watt of mechanical power is equivalent to 4.3 kcal per hour. For example, a manufacturer of rowing equipment shows calories released from 'burning' food as four times the actual mechanical work, plus 300 kcal per hour,[11] which amounts to about 20 percent efficiency at 250 watts of mechanical output. It can take up to 20 hours of little physical output (e.g. walking) to "burn off" 4000 kcal [12] (i.e. fuel) more than a body would otherwise have.
The differing energy density of foods (fat, alcohols, carbohydrates and proteins) lies in their varying proportions of oxidizable carbon atoms. Release of energy from food follows transfer of electrons from carbon and hydrogen to carbon dioxide and water. [13]
Swings in body temperature – either hotter or cooler – increase the metabolic rate, thus burning more energy. Prolonged exposure to extremely warm or very cold environments increases the basal metabolic rate (BMR). People who live in these types of settings often have BMRs that are 5–20% higher than those in other climates. Physical activity also significantly increases body temperature, which in turn uses more energy from respiration.[14]

Certain products' instructions will specify that they shouldn't be used with rechargeable batteries. Other than bribery by Big Battery, what's the reason?

my grandpa is still carrying a bullet in his knee, from WW2, doctors found out 2-3 years ago, when doing a full body scan, and he refused to take it out. so - you're good.

BB's are made out of copper. I wouldn't worry about it.

Would it be scientifically possible to have my arms and legs removed from my torso and re-attached to my waste and chest so I could run around on all fours like a tiger?

first of all - you would look like spider, not tiger.

scientifically - maybe.

it would require for a surgeon to pull out every single nerve, that normally goes into your limbs, and rearrange them through your abdomen, leading to your newly attached arms and legs. veins also, so that limbs could have blood, and lymph, and everything else. the biggest problem would be muscle rearranging, and syncronizing with spine, that would involve a completely new biological design.

practically - not possible, cause medical science cannot yet perform such a thing (crippled persons as a proof)

When you shop online for clothes and the sizes are "Small, Medium, Large, etc.", by which measurements are they going? What's a large for me may be a small for someone else. Is there a universal measurement for small that all companies use or what?

Most online stores should have a measurement chart somewhere on the site.

You'd be better off having your brain surgically removed and transplanted into a tigers body. Which, if you think about it, would be pretty fucking cool!

Does anyone have something like this avatar I'm using? I feel like I might have seen it on GAF, and I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

Don't think so, this is the first time I've seen that image. You're good to go.

You shouldn't change your avie so much, though, I like the iconic Ben Linus image the most.

Is there a thread for just awesome videos you find on the internet? Also out of sheer curiosity what was the first post made on Gaf?

Thanks for the reply. And yeah, you're probably right. I'll probably go back to the Linus one or the Joanna Newsom one soon.

Okay, this is a really stupid question. I was born a long time before the internet and am an idiot when it comes to home networking. I tend to visit my parents at least once a week to do laundry because I don't have a washing machine. Anyway, I can't play any games online there because my parents' networks' NAT type is not open. I have no idea what NAT is or how to make it open. Any help would be apreciated.

You need to get into the router config page and open ports for whatever service you are using, ie xbox live.

Figure out what router you have and follow instructions here

i have a question for you gaf. when somebody asks you to tell somebody hello for them do you ever actually follow through? i don't think i have ever followed through. am i the only one?

I do if I think the person I'm telling will actually care.

Well, I guess it depends on the scenario. For instance, if it happens in real life where a friend will tell me to say hi to someone I know, I'll deliver their hello. If it's online...chances are no.

Drink a lot of water, whilst it you still might be hungover tomorrow, the water will lessen its effect.

Youtube Secure mode.

How do I disable this ? (I will post this question on every page for the ten following years because I can't find anyone able to give me a clue. Wtf is this shit Google ?!)

What comic is this image from? I remember reading a few of them here and finding them really funny a long time ago, but forgot where to find it.
