Do ears dilate like your eyes do? When I have my headphones in and have them turned up, and when I turn it down, it becomes softer. But after a while, even the lowest setting sounds horribly loud like if I had the sound turned all the way up.
 
F6 used to highlight the URL bar in FireFox (and in other browsers I think) but it doesn't work in the latest version. Did they remove it or move it to a different button?

Still works for me. I think the issue is that F6 actually just switches between frames. One frame being the tool/tabs/navigation bar and the others being any rendered webpage frames. So when you hit F6 it just grabs the first navigable element in the top frame.

The problem occurs if you've got tabs on top. In that case, the first navigable element is the first tab. If you swap tabs back to the bottom it should work like you expect.

If for some reason, you like tabs on top, I think Ctrl-L should still work.

If you sign out of GAF, do threads update more slowly? I've tried it in Firefox and IE and whenever I'm logged out all threads seem to update every few minutes rather than immediately.

For example, if I refresh now without being logged in, the last post time is

I have a Windows 7 Ultimate DVD. I am trying to re-install it on my Netbook (hard drive failure), which obviously doesn't have a DVD drive.

I did this once before by downloading a program that took the necessary files from the DVD and put them onto a USB drive. For the life of me, I can't find the program anymore.

All I keep finding is a program that puts the Windows 7 ISO image onto the USB, but I do not have a Windows 7 ISO. I just have the DVD.

Does anybody know how I could get the DVD onto the USB drive? I tried to just swap my hard drive over to my big PC and use the DVD drive to install, which worked, but apparently you can't just swap the hard drive back to the netbook.

I presume you have a PC with a drive that you can actually put the disc in. I'd probably just get a bit of burning software that can make an ISO and then use the Microsoft tool for it.

But if you don't want to do that, you can hack it out from the command line. Here's some instructions.

How come when I log into Google now it doesn't show my iGoogle when I'm on the main page of it? There isn't a link in the top right to switch to it anymore either.

There's not too many designs that match up speed, aerodynamics, and storage capacity.

Plus planes lasts for decades and take forever to gain legal approval for new designs. Since Boeing and others are in the business to stay in business, it makes sense to keep designing the same design since they know it works and is cheaper to produce and more likely for airlines to buy.

Contrast that with the innovations of military aircraft and their varous designs since they have the money to pay for innovation and don't worry as much regarding testing.
 
What the fuck happened to youtube and the favorites button?

When I click my account name, the whole menu just pops up, including one button with favorites, but whenever I click on it, it takes me to the last video I favorited.
I want to access the whole list, without going through my whole account...

this change annoys me too. Now what I do is I click my name, click ANY of the links on the right side of the new menu that comes up, and then on that page "favourites" will be on the top left

imo favourites needs to be a button on every page, just like browse, movies, and upload

Yeah, this is the first design change on Youtube that's actually annoying the hell out of me. You can still view a full listing, but it involves either clicking into your main account screen and then going to the favorites on the left-hand side, or by going to that favorites playlist and clicking the "My favorited videos" link at the bottom. There needs to be an option to turn the playlist feature on or off, not just making it the only option. Ugh.
 
Where oh fucking where is the Crankshaft Sensor on a Vauxhall/Opel Corsa B (1998)? And described in terms that a spastic would understand like myself. Don't say under the starter motor, I don't know what the fuck that looks like.
 
Tech Gaf I need help.

Ever since upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate, I cannot connect to my houses wireless internet. It has WPA2+TKIP security but I had previous connected so the passcode shouldn't be an issue. I can see the SSID, but it fails to connect (I have restarted the computer and router).

With the new OS< Windows update has ran and I see a new Driver for the WLAN card has been installed. Yet I can connect to a nearby unsecured network, just not mine?

Any ideas?

Hearing umms or showing the actor thinking makes it look like bad acting. I don't really know why. But I've noticed in ametaur acting, the actors are always doing uhhhh or silence between to characters talking causes for an awkward scene.

Well those things are distractors in real life so they take you out of the performance when actors do it.
 
Reposted question from about 200 posts ago that wasn't answered. Hopefully, it is cool if I bump with it.

Stupid domain name question.

I am looking to register a domain name that I can: 1. use as an email, 2. use to access my home computer when I am away (things like ftp, vnc, xbmc managment, etc.), and 3. maybe move my wordpress site to (if I start using it again).

Where is a good place to register my domain with? Do I need to pay for additional services to accomplish what I want? I know wordpress can transfer to my domain for like $12 a year, but I am unsure of what else I would need to do for the other stuff.

A facebook question: Whenever I click 'older posts' on my Most Recent / Top News feeds, I simply get linked back to the homepage. It seems it is either linking to 'facebook.com/#' or 'facebook.com/?sk=h#' or something similar. It works properly on all the profile pages though. Its really annoying me. Anyone know whats going on / how to fix it?

Question for MathGAF: What are the steps or logic in order to solve C and D? (I already solved A and B ):



Sorry if my math sucks but I still cant figure out by myself, the main concept for ODE's and the steps required to analyze and solve ODE problems, and the fact that I learnt derivatives and integrals with a "mechanical process" instead of logical thinking and understanding the concept, made me suck at math .

Stewart calculus page 571, 6th edition, still no euler or separation methods, I wont flip the page until I can understand this.

Some of Japanese is hieroglyphics.

There should be an East Asian Language Pack on your DVD, and an option to install it by running intl.cpl > Language tab > Install files for

Has anyone here ever order an item from amazon.co.uk to the U.S.? there's a region-free Band of Brothers there that comes out to about $29 including shipping. For comparison, on amazon.com the same set is 48 bucks. That's almost a 20 dollar difference... which seems "too good to be true" to me for some reason. Am I missing something? I mean, I don't mind waiting a week or two for it to arrive, but am I going to have to pay import taxes/duties or something? Any reason not to go ahead with the purchase? It's my first time buying stuff from abroad
