Why is it when movies show computers, especially when it is related to hacking, they show the most unrealistic virtual simulation they can think of? Like in Swordfish, Hugh Jackman is making a worm and for some reason the software visually pieces together a cube with smaller cubes on it. Wat?

Why is it recommended and expected that people drive with 1 foot? As in, their dominate foot for both gas and brake? Is there some science behind this?

Well they have opposite functions (one accelerates and one decelerates) so there's no reason you'd ever need to use both in tandem.

Anyone know how Liu Kang got banned?

Can someone interpret this Excel formula for me?

=IF($A$70="Current",IF(I72<>"",I72,""),IF(O72<>"",O72,""))
If Cell A70 has the text "Current", then it returns the contents of I72, otherwise it returns the contents of O72. If the formula is copy/pasted, it will still look at A70 for "Current", but the other two references will change.

Probably more interesting than looking at a unix console.

Yesterday I put $20 worth of gas in my car and this morning I went to my bank account and, under "credit card authorizations" it says Kicks 66 $1. Did I just get free gas or is there a mistake?

EDIT: Nevermind, I looked it up.

"Example: At the gas pump, an initial authorization is requested prior to knowing the final amount. Most pay-at-the-pump gas purchases are initially authorized for $1 to $10, no matter the final purchase amount."

Yes. I've even done worse (shellfish) and am still alive to tell about it. Of course I hate meat that's been frozen.

Is Truman's wife in The Truman Show a porn star? She was paid to be his wife right? They must've had their intimacy shared with the world. Amaturish stuff.

I can't believe I never asked myself this.

They didn't have kids, FWIW.

ok so my bro lost the ipod touch 2g I lent him at work... any chances at getting it back? He thinks maybe the cleaners saw it and grabbed.

Pisses me off to no end :@

They did show that the cameras were turned away when they were having sex, iirc.

I don't think she was a porn star but she did have sex with him off camera. Maybe Truman didn't know what sex was though.

I'm trying to remember if they said something about paying her extra to have a kid or if that was a trick to calm Truman down.

I'm gonna try Netflix for the first time. I live in Canada. I have some questions:

I have a big family and in my household we have a bunch of devices that support Netflix.

If I start up a Netflix account and start paying $8 bucks per month or whatever it costs to stream whatever movie or show I want, will I be able to use that same account across every Netflix-capable platform that I own?

AKA, for just the 8 bucks per month, I can watch a movie on my 360 on Thursday, and then at no additional charge, using the same account, I can watch another movie on my laptop or iPhone on Friday?

Is there a tutorial for reparing the elevator of the right glass door of a 2001 Caravan

Youtubed or Written,

Just tell me how to do it

Cus, i paid 13 bucks for repair, and now it doesnt work

Thanks in advance

Sure can. And in fact, you can have multiple streams to different devices going simultaneously. You're limited to like (I think) six machines that are simultaneously authorized, though. So for instance, you could have your Xbox, Playstation, Wii, cell phone, and two computers authorized at the same time, but if you want to add a Roku or something, you'll have to drop one of the others. There's a device management link on your Netflix account page to deal with that.

my laptop just blue screened for no reason why would it do this?
Could just be the fans getting blocked up. Get a can of keyboard cleaner and spray out the ducts.

If that doesn't stop it, it's a hardware problem (probably ram/hdd if you weren't experience issues before this). Run your BIOS tests.

Question about home air compressors. I use mine occasionally but it goes for long stretches just sitting.

Do I empty the tank when it just sits there and refill it every time I use it? Or leave it pressurized at all times?

Probably a really stupid question but I just want to be safe:

Automatically my Driver Software Installation on my Toshiba laptop said it was finished downloading something. I go to see what it is and it's something called "Chicony USB 2.0 Camera". I've never heard of this and certainly didn't plug it into my USB drive. Do you know if it's safe or not?

I can't reach neogaf for an hour now from my home network. Pinging the site gives me: 'ping: cannot resolve neogaf.com: unknown host'. Yet i can browse GAF on my phone over 3G. All other websites work fine so far. Could this be a provider related issue? Please, help me GAF.

Edit: It's working again, still have no clue why it didn't earlier on.

At work today I was watering plants. I accidentally sprayed around where my iPod was. As far as I can tell everything except the volume works. In fact I have no control at all over it. Also, when I look inside the headphone jack it is pink. So, gaf how do I fix water damage to my iPod touch?

Turn it off, put it in a bag of dry rice for a day or two. Then try turning it on and see.

The rice will absorb all the moisture.

That would be my first step anyway.

Pink? WTF? It was just water you were spraying right? If so put it in rice for a few days and you should be fine.

I'm gonna take my case off but do I need to take off the screen protector?

How far through the books does the HBO Game of Thrones season 1 go? If I've only read the first book will I be spoiled if I watch it?

I've yet to watch the series or read the books, but someone said the series is before the first book.

How do you know if you've sprained your ankle? It kills me to walk on mine, and whenever I move my foot it feels like I'm pulling something stringy. And if it is sprained, how long until it heals?

what's a decent video editor that will let me cut out certain parts of the video? I've tried windows media maker, but it doesn't work how I want it to, and virtualdub doesn't work with .MOV files

so i was cleaning out my gutters and theres heaps of leaves that get stuck up there so eventually i have this thick mud/mulch thing going on... and i find worms in the gutter... on the roof

has anyone got any idea how they got on top of the roof? best i could think was that some bird dropped one into the gutter by accident lol

Here's the deal:

I have a Hotmail account which I use to register everything. I even used it to register for a Google account, which is where everything turns up shit creek.

I want to convert to using Gmail, but I want to keep my accounts linked, especially YouTube. Is there a way to do this, or will I be forced to create a new account and start from scratch?

What's the browser tool that loads the next page of a gaf thread and puts it at the bottom below the ad so that you don't have to click next page? I believe it was a greasemonkey script but could be wrong. I've tried using a few I found via google but none of them work on gaf.

Will I run into problems bringing these into the airport?

When mating, another worm and I join together with heads pointing in opposite directions. Sperm is passed from one worm to the other and stored in sacs. Then a cocoon forms on each of us on our clitellum. As we back out of the narrowing cocoons, eggs and sperm are deposited in the cocoon.

After we back out, the cocoon closes and fertilization takes place. The cocoons are much smaller than a grain of rice and are yellow-colored. Each cocoon can have 1-5 worms. If conditions are not right for hatching, such as dryness, my cocoons can be dormant for years and hatch when conditions are right.

The worms likely came from a cocoon a bird dropped, or it may be that a bird ate a cocoon and then passed it intact up on your roof, considering how the worms inside can remain dormant for years.
