i want to sell on ebay and never have before (have just bought stuff on there).

if i set my item with a price of BIN (lets say, $25) and it doesn't sell - am i still charged?

if i set my item with a starting bid of 10c, and it sells for less than i wanted (e.g. it sells for $5), can i 'reject' the sale or something similar? if yes, am i charged/will i get negative feedback?

if it helps, i'm in australia (not sure if prices are different).
1) you are only charged a really small insertion fee for posting the item ( from 10 cents to $2.00 but if it sells you pay another fee (9% of the final price).

2)
Sellers are in violation of eBay rules and subject to suspension (and in some cases action by law enforcement) in cases in which:

A seller refuses to accept payment for a won auction or listing at all
A seller refunds payment for a won auction or listing and refuses to complete the transaction
A seller accepts payment for a won auction or listing and subsequently fails to deliver the item or offer a refund
So, no if it sells, it sells. you can end it while no one has bough or won the bid though.

When you watch a video from a playlist on YouTube while using the Cosmic Panda skin (maybe with default also, but I wouldn't know), it plays through the list from newest to oldest. Is there any way to reverse this order?

Too many times I want to watch a series of videos but this issue forces me to go back to the home page to get the next video.

Can anyone recommend to me a good absolute beginner's guide to web design/html? I am a complete neophyte when it comes to computer science stuff, but I'm very interested in learning more, especially about web design. If someone could recommend a good introductory book, I'd appreciate it. Right now I'm looking on Amazon at some of the "For Dummies" series of books, which seem to have good reviews. I don't have any particular goals in mind, I just want to learn some basics for professional development.

I taught myself most of what I know from this site alone: http://w3schools.com/

It's a great reference, but also an effective learning tool if you take the time to go through each section, starting with http://w3schools.com/html/default.asp.

If you're dead set on a book though, I bought this as part of my computer science course: http://www.amazon.com/Perspectives-Creating-Comprehensive-Paperback-Technology/dp/0619268018. It's a good source of information, but just remember that web development is always evolving and it might not make sense to waste money on a printed book.

I don't know if it's just me, but i'm not a big fan of the Wii Classic Controller D-Pad (it's kind of stiff), and was searching for a better alternative. Has anyone ever tried to play VC games with this adapter and a SNES pad? How does it compare to using a Classic Controller?

I know I've seen it on GAF before, so I'll ask here.

Does anyone have a link to or a pic of the explanation of the number of exclamation points a girl uses after the word "hey" in a text message? I just had a friend use a 3-! on me and I wanted to link her to it and ask if she means anything by her punctuation.

So there's this offer on the Kindle about getting a $50 Amazon gift card if you sign up for the amazon credit card. Could i sign up for the card, get the $50 gift card, and then cancel the card? Would that work?

You most likely have to buy the kindle on the card and keep it open for a certain time period. 3 months maybe?

Well, I wanted to make a topic about this, but I'm a junior so I guess this is the next best thing. I recently had my first job interview at a movie theater. It went well overall and the manager was pretty relaxed and funny. Should I send a thank you letter? I know you are supposed to do this with higher level jobs and such, but this is just a high school movie theater job. I feel like it will sound corny or sappy, and I'll come off sounding like a suck up. Should I send the letter?

Maybe follow up with a phone call if you don't hear back in a while.

Also, if you get the job expect to hear "you too" a lot.

I would. Just a little Halmark card saying you are still interested and thanking them for their time. I did it before for a little PT job and it worked. A phone call may help but with a card they will have your name on their desk. And honestly there is a good chance there is little difference between you or the other X number of people they interviewed for Y positions. A little note to set you apart may do the trick.

Am I missing something or is it now impossible to get the 1 DVD at a time without streaming plan from Netflix? When I click the restart membership page it says:

"Your Membership $7.99 a month
Watch instantly on your PC, Mac or TV
(Does not include DVDs by mail. Not all titles available to watch instantly.)"

And below that it says with a box you can check on the left:

"Add unlimited DVDs (1 DVD out-at-a-time) for an even broader selection.
Only $7.99 a month."

But there's no box to uncheck streaming? I knew Netflix had changed their plans and charges more now, but did their blog not specifically say that you could do a $7.99 1 disc only plan by itself?

For the past hour or so my left arm above my elbow feels "cold" on the inside. And I THINK my heart rate has slowed up. Everywhere else I'm perfectly fine as if in room temperature, but this ONE spot feels "cold". What the hell is it?

I'm pretty sure this has been asked in this thread before but...

What is the website you go to that lets you pick a lot of popular free software to download all at once (useful after a clean Windows install).

You realize that would be a ding on your credit score, right?

I am, admittedly, a hypochondriac, but when should I start worrying about mouth cancer? I'm 22, and I've noticed a bump on the "floor" of my mouth, under the tongue. It flared up, when away, and now it's back. Please put my mind at ease (or not).

Ulcer? Think mouth cancer is quite rare, particularly in young people. More likely if you smoke though.

When people say "Sunday at midnight", ie paper due Sunday at midnight.

Does that mean Saturday 11:59:59pm

Or

Sunday 11:59:59pm

The latter. There is pretty much zero chance it means Saturday.

True, though not necessarily a large one.

Hopefully someone with a kindle can help me out here.

I don't actually own a kindle, but I have the kindle app on my android phone, and I have kindle for PC on my laptop so that I can read books on it.

Yesterday, a friend of mine emailed me his e-book, which is in .prc format. It opens up just fine on my laptop through the kindle reader.

The problem comes up when I try to get it over to my android. I go to library, and the book shows up. However, when I click on tools > manage your kindle, it takes me to a page on amazon that's supposed to show my library. Here, it ONLY shows the books I've downloaded from the website. No matter how many times I try to sync, the new book will not show up there.

When I try to sync my android's kindle library, the new book won't show up. I've tried at least 5-6 times now, and it just will not appear there either.

Am I doing something wrong?

Does anyone here post on reddit? What do you think of it?
If you haven't started browsing reddit, DONT. SAVE YOURSELF, you will lose SO much time to it.

it's an awesome site but still super addicting.

Anyone else having avatars take forever to load? Gaf feels very slow today on that front.

is this animal supposed to look like this?
looks super obese to me. or is it a case of the photoshop pixels?

It's a Beluga Whale. My first instinct was to say it is really obese, but it may just be holding it's head down at a weird angle. I didn't think that would be possible but I found a website that suggests otherwise:

http://www.afsc.noaa.gov/nmml/education/cetaceans/beluga.php
"Beluga whales have a flexible neck due to cervical vertebrae (backbone) that are not fused, as in other cetaceans. This allows them to move their head up, down, and to the side. Their bulbous forehead, called a melon, is also very flexible allowing them to make many different facial expressions. Movement of the melon is associated with the production of sounds."

edit: Jeeze it still looks really fat though.

Anyone have any Netflix streaming problems when watching Animated TV shows? Like it'll run smoothly and then the sound will still play but the picture will be like a slideshow almost. It's really pissing me off. I've disabled everything that could slow down connections, cleaned out my computer with CClearner, and still same shit. What gives?

What? That's about the most awkward question I could imagine.

It's most likely a reference to the Christina Hendricks playing Wonder Woman thing.

Comcast gave me one of those Xfinity modem/wireless router hybrid things. How do I change the username?
