I've seen this in something before, what the fuck is it? I've been trying to remember for 7 hours now and ... help me.

That looks like the Mysterious G-Man from Half Life 2 - beyond that I got no idea about the context of the video. I lovvved the g-man in Episode 2.

I'm got a question about financial aid. If a person is going for an associate's degree, which would be two years, do they have up to three years to complete it before they lose financial aid? If so, what is a person's options after that? Will they have to pay out of the pocket if they want to continue?

most financial aid, that im aware of, depends on full-time student status. if you drop down to part time, you can lose funding. part time/full time varies by institution, but is often around 60% of a full course load, which is often 5 courses/units per semester.

if you're thinking of taking a year off in between, you'd probably have to pay back loans from the first year during that second year, but still be eligible for new loans/not have to repay first year loans during the third year.

it varies too widely depending on the nature of the loans/grants/scholarships to be any more specific, though. gotta do that research based on your country/province/state/school

Well the question was for a friend. He's in a two year program but is taking his time to get through it and it's going to take longer than two years to complete. He's also relying on Pell Grant's which he's been getting. But he overheard some people talking about if the program isn't finished in a certain amount of time then you can no longer get financial aid at all.

I had never heard of that so I've been researching it for him and can't find a whole lot of answers. Figured I'd ask here to see what others say.

Looking for some webspace that will allow me to store files as well as sent up my own email with domain (weenerz@weenerz.com or something like it). Anyone have a suggestion for both?

I have blue dot on my 3DS touch screen. Would that be a dead pixel? Also, would nintendo repair that for free or at all for that matter. Fyi, I only see the dot when both screens are completely black.

Hopefully someone with a kindle can help me out here.

I don't actually own a kindle, but I have the kindle app on my android phone, and I have kindle for PC on my laptop so that I can read books on it.

Yesterday, a friend of mine emailed me his e-book, which is in .prc format. It opens up just fine on my laptop through the kindle reader.

The problem comes up when I try to get it over to my android. I go to library, and the book shows up. However, when I click on tools > manage your kindle, it takes me to a page on amazon that's supposed to show my library. Here, it ONLY shows the books I've downloaded from the website. No matter how many times I try to sync, the new book will not show up there.

When I try to sync my android's kindle library, the new book won't show up. I've tried at least 5-6 times now, and it just will not appear there either.

Am I doing something wrong?
Whispernet doesn't work with books outside of the Kindle store. You'll need to load it on your phone directly, though I've never done that with the phone app so I can't say exactly how.

Well, I'm back with my dvd drive. Getting the same error at bootup, 0xc000000e, and windows won't load properly unless I press tab to go to POST for some reason. My drive has been flashed to a newer firmware and even though windows 7 can't see it, it has power and the tray opens just fine. I actually saw the drive disappear in front of me in "my computer".

I've tried googling the error message but it doesn't help me much :S I've tried folloing the instructions in this link I was given earlier here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116

But regedit doesn't have either of those two filters at all :S Any ideas? Google suggests it could be related to a failed backup image of windows across another hard drive, and I have done that before, but I had to remove it because it was like 400gigs so I sometimes get flags about not having any backups, but that shouldn't have anything to do with the dvd drive, right? :S

Edit: Actually never got to *see* POST. After seeing the error and pressing enter for continue, it rebooted and I got the same error, so I pressed Esc for exit instead and pressed tab for POST and it loaded windows immediately just fine, until the drive disappeared.

Not my picture but I get the same error.

There's a cap on how much you can borrow, so if you're taking a really long time to get that degree it's likely you'll hit the cap.

I don't believe there's a difference between associate's and bachelor's though as far as loans are concerned, so the cap shouldn't be a problem.

At home my wireless connection is 65 Mbps, at work it's 54. Why can I download shit much faster at work? Is it time of day or network activity or...?

what's the name of the movie that's similar to super 8 but it's set in England?

Attack the Block? It's awesome BTW.

When I download an image to use as a background on my computer and I set it as such, do I still need to leave the image file in the same folder, or can I delete the image, and my background will stay? I'm just curious because at work, I like to leave my desktop free of icons, and I've set a new background, but I want to get rid of the image altogether. Always wanted to know. Thanks.

I just recently moved into an apartment building with complimentary Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, I'm getting the MTU insufficient issues when trying to sign onto Live. Some places will have a website where you can get your Xbox exempted on the network, but I called the property manager and he said they can't do anything to hook up an Xbox or Wii etc.

For 1, do they have to pay extra to the ISP to allow exemptions on their Wi-Fi?

And 2, if I can't get them to change their mind, is there anything I can do? As in changing my desktop wireless adapter settings and then bridge it to the Xbox? I'm assuming I can't mess with the wireless network configuration only the company can.

That's because you have .11n at home, and .11g at work. That's your speed to your wireless access point, however, and not your speed on the internet.

It depends on what you're downloading. Just because you have a fast connection, doesn't mean the server or the people you're downloading from (i.e. torrents) have fast connections. Both parties are at play here, so if the server is slow then your 65mbps, 54mbps or even 1gbps doesn't matter a whole lot.

Your advertised internet speed is basically your maximum speed and generally you shouldn't expect it to be the fastest every time. The time of day and network activity do play a part, as well.

a classmate has had graphic design for two days and he said he made this image(HUGE IMAGE) does anyone know if it's a stock image and a link to it?

Why wouldn't he have? What's so special about the image?

Nothing, i agree the image sucks but it took me longer than two days to be able to use a wacom tablet to draw normally.

Have you asked him if he had any prior experience in art/graphic design before coming to the class?

Are you sure? I don't remember that.

I'm getting around 4 hours of sleep a day. Sometimes I think I'm going to die because of sleep deprivation.

What do I do to fall asleep? I'm usually full of energy at night and in the afternoon I'm tired!

You probably have an issue with your diet, ask a doctor. You want foods that release energy at times that are fitting your desired life style.

And you're not going to die from only having four hours of sleep a night.

This has been going on for about 4 months. I've gotten way less though. I went a whole week with around 8 hours of sleep.

I feel like I'm at my limit most of the time. I try to sleep in the afternoon, but I can't stay asleep. It's frustrating since I really want my sleep.

You could try taking some melatonin supplements.

I'll look into this.

Will try to sleep now, need to wake up in 3 hours =/

If possible, go to a doctor, explain diet/habit, maybe get some sleeping pills. People don't like to suggest relying on pills or alcohol or other things to get to sleep, but you've just got to sleep; that's a pretty bad situation.

I honestly would take anything at this point. This past week it feels like it's gotten worse. I've been going to work about 10 minutes late because when I wake up I feel terrible.

I mean if a drink makes you tired, and you won't keep drinking, one drink is not gonna hurt. But I would still talk to a doctor and get some pills.
