How come when I connect my iPod touch(2nd gen?) to my x360 it recognises the pictures on my iPod but not the music? When I go to "music library" in the dashboard, my iPod isn't there, but in "picture library" my iPod is.

Isn't that the way it happens when you plug it into your computer too? The only official way of getting music to play from an iPod is via Itunes. The picture library is open though.

Well I can't play music from my iPod on my xbox. I was under the impression you can hook up your iPod to your xbox and it'll play your music (this is the case)

Some person on IRC said they gave me a virus. I loled at them, because I didn't accept any files, nor did I click any links from them. Then another person told me this was legit, and that admin found out the person who previously PMed me was infecting PCs. Supposedly, I got some weird Trojan virus that DDOS Facebook, Google, and adds pop ups everywhere. I asked how to remove it. The person said the only way was to ask the person who infected me to remove it, and that no virus scanner, or system restore would remove it because it was in some port.

I'm 99% certain this is bullshit, since the person was giving me empty threats about crashing my PC (5 hours later and my PC hasn't crashed), Microsoft Security Essentials came up with absolutely nothing after a full system scan, I can access Google, and Facebook fine, I didn't click any links, nor accept any downloads from them, and I'm not getting any pop ups.

I'm just wondering, is it even possible to get a virus from just logging into IRC, and someone just doing a text chat?

Whats the easiest way to kill yourself? I'm not joking by the way.
By what measure? Expenses, effort to set it up, balls to go through with it, ease to endure the end (pain etc), impact on loved ones?

Anything that doesn't involve any utilities is pretty easy to do, technically. You just have to bring up the balls to get it going. Like, if you want to smash your body to pieces, all you need is height, and that should be available in abundance, usually. But you've got to step over the edge yourself.

Here's a helpful article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_methods
Just go through those methods and check how easy each would be.

that's interesting. It had to be something like that but it's the first time it happens to me and it was weird.

This thing could be used in lots of creative ways though, like hiding ghost images in thumbnails to freak people out.

I've just been having a play with your original image. Save it and check it out:

2pt2gdt.jpg

Here's how I did it:

Downloaded a tool called Jhead from here.

Created a folder, and put the Jhead tool and your image into it.

Ran the command "jhead -st thumb.jpg Aries_125_Scooter.jpg", which extracted a copy of the thumbnail from your image and saved it to the folder with the filename thumb.jpg.

I did that in order to find out the size of the thumbnail. Apparently they are normally 240 x 160 pixels, but the one in yours happened to be 160 x 120. I expect there are tools which can get that info by simply reading the header block from the main jpg, but I didn't have time to search for one.

Next, I re-sized a pic of a V-Max to 160 x 120 pixels.

Finally, I ran the command "jhead -rt vmaxthumb.jpg Aries_125_Scooter.jpg" which pasted my new thumbnail over the one in the header of your pic.

And that's it. Remember though, that your picture is a jpg that has an Exif type header block because it was taken with a digital camera. So, if you want to repeat this but using a normal jpg, you'll need to use the Jhead tool to add an Exif header block to it before you can add your thumbnail.

The full instructions for Jhead are here.

Have fun freaking people out!

Potential very stupid question incoming: Is it scientific fact that a ball is the most perfect shape? In other words, do we just assume ball-shapes are the best because of observing the same shape in atoms and stuff, or is there an actual scientific, mathematical formula that explains why it is perfect?

So my idiot roommate left the stove on, burning the fuck out of my perfect teflon pan for about 30 minutes. Now, the top part looks identical to the way it did before he burned it, but the bottom is a bit charred. Is the pan still safe to use?

I just got this new HP laptop but sometimes when Im using the touchpad/mousepad (i know its wrong but thats what I call them) and clicking, the font and pictures on whatever Im looking at gets smaller or larger. I know it has something to do with the touchpad but I cant for the life of me figure out how to control it. Right now all my words are practically the size of pinheads.

Define perfect.

No. Perfect is not a word that describes an inherent property of shapes. (Though things can be a perfect sphere/cube/etc., meaning they have no defects.) Spheres are unique in that they are the only 3D shape to have a single surface, they maximize volume per surface area, they are infinitely symmetrical, etc. But this does not make them "better" or "more perfect" than other shapes.

No. Teflon is very bad for you. Bag it, throw it away, and open your windows / turn on a fan for a while. Teflon makes a great non-stick surface, but when you heat it, it smokes and gives you all sorts of problems. Teflon is totally safe up to about 350 degrees (starts to give off bad gases around there, though in amounts that shouldn't cause problems), and mostly safe up til around 450 (it starts to cause real problems at around 500, and local variances in temperature means your threshold for safety should be around 450).

Never heat a Teflon an with nothing in it, never use a Teflon pan around pet birds (they're much more sensitive than humans), and never use a Teflon pan that has significant damage to the coating. Outside of that there are a few oils that you should avoid (avocado and something else) because of their high smoking temperature.

Is it the same effect as holding CTRL and hitting +/- ? (CTRL+0 will reset it.)
It's probably happening when you slide up or down on the very edge of the trackpad.
You can configure the function of the edge, as well as the size (or turn it off completely) in the trackpad's driver control dialog.

When some guys sit down, right before they sit, what are the doing when they grab the top part of each pants leg and sort of pull them up a bit? I've never understood why a lot of guys do this.

To not stretch the fabric at the knees. Otherwise, it wears out rather fast. When you sit down, the fabric tends to stick to the lower part of the knees due to friction, and because the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, the previously straight pants have to be stretched over the same distance, which wears the clothes out the most at the point with the highest friction (the knees).

This might be obvious and I feel kind of stupid but... If I were to download a 150mb video with a 14gb per week download limit, would that take 150mb out of my limit, i.e I'd have 13.85gb left? There I said it; it's just I remember being confused in the past when streaming videos took comparatively nothing out of my data transfer limit!

Oh God.

Another question. On GAF, if someone sends you a message, but your inbox is full, does the message that is sent to you get bounced back to the sender, or does it just vanish?

Whoa, that makes sense. How did I not know about that? lol Thanks.

It may be fine to use if the Teflon hasn't been compromised (it's not very durable), otherwise it'd be potentially hazardous to your health to cook with. A sure sign would be a change in sheen or color (brown) when you hold it up to bright light at an angle.

Because of my experiences with Teflon deteriorating I've switched to non-stick ceramic coats that are PTFE and PFOA free, and they also don't scratch.

Sup guys, so i have some old mini dvd's from my old camera and was wondering if there was some good software that is able to rip your dvds to formats like .avi
I've looked around but most sites i've found are full of scams. any help would be appreciated.

I lost the power cord for my Seagate external hard drive. It's a circular connector with a peg in the middle and the logo is one long line and to the side of that three short lines.

Is there any way to get another one of these?

It's just a standard plug. The needed voltage should be on the drive. I'm sure you have another one laying around, probably on a home phone.

I have a MMA fight in about 4 months. Nothing special, just a small, local thing.

I'm trying to figure out what music to play as my entrance theme.

I already used Bizarre Love Triangle by New Order.

I'm thinking of Always by Erasure, The Touch by Stan Bush, Shimmy Ya by Ol' Dirty Bastard.

thoughts? Or other suggestions?

Which is correct grammar: "Most of the staff HAVE resigned" or Most of the staff HAS resigned"?
The one you'd use depends on whether you see the staff as many individuals or one group of people.

Mathematically it's because the force exerted on each point of a circle or sphere is equal to the next one. Atoms aren't spheres btw. Because they move really fast they are in fact egg-shaped. At least, their electrons are.

About Graphic cards:

I build my first rig a couple of months ago with an ASUS GTX 570 Direct CU II. I believe the card is OC from factory, and I have recently discovered after playing Deus ex HR and Crysis 2, that the card crashes on dx11; a problem that is possibly caused because i need to increase the voltage ( solution i got from the internet).

The Stock settings are the same I had when I installed it ( I have never touched them):
742MHz core, 1482MHz shader, 1.013V, 1900mhz memory
(I am sure the problem is not heating)

My question: Is it safe to change the voltage to 1.025V? Should I adjust the other settings?

Maybe they might release a firmware update soon? That's much safer.

Perhaps a stupid question but why can't I sign in on GAF with my Ipod (I think it's 2th generation). Whenever I sign in, it says: You are logged in blablabla and then, it brings me back to the page where I first was but not signed in.

At a local show I go to this one dude always comes out to Dropkick Murphys "Shipping Up to Boston". Every time it gets people pumped like you wouldn't believe. Must do something for him to because he always wins by KO.

Where's your fight at btw? If its in the PA area I might check it out.

EDIT: Duhhh I guess the 'chitown' part of your name should tip me off.

I have a set of Avengers posters they gave out at Comic Con. I'm looking to frame them somehow, so I'm curious if anyone has ideas.

For reference, there's seven of them at 13" x 20" each, which seems to a pretty uncommon dimension set in itself. I could get custom frames for each, but I feel like that would be rather expensive.

I could also try to get a custom frame at 91" x 20, but I'd have to imagine that would just be very expensive for such a large and odd size.

I found some poster hangers online for much cheaper, that basically clip each side of the poster and have a hole for hanging purposes. It's not as nice as what I'd like, but it's a whole hell of a lot cheaper.

So, any suggestions on what I can do?

Embarrassing question:

What's the best dating site for people aged 18 - 25? I'm rarely finding opportunities to meet women lately and seriously considering going to one of those sites.
