This Year's Call of Duty to Be Called "Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War", According to Credible Leaker

After much rumors and speculation, as well as a complete restructuring of the game after some developmental issues within a contribution of both Raven and Sledgehammer only for Treyarch to take over (making the series a 2-year development process once again) this seems to be this year's CoD, as this leaker has accurately released information on Warzone's release date and more.

As the title suggests, Vietnam is going to take up quite a bit of the game. Think of the original Black Ops but with way more Vietnam, or Sledgehammer's original first CoD project that was in third person and later canceled, Call of Duty: Fog of War.

Hard to get excited when BO4 left such a bad taste and MW2019 being perfect.
You wanna fight m9?

MW2019 is the biggest turd of a CoD ever made. I have the exact opposite opinion of yours. L

I mean, it sounds better than Black Ops IIII

(not by much though. Why not just call it CoD: CW?)

Tally marks are smaller and it made up a cool shield in the box art, so it's way cooler than a long drawn out title.

Thought the first black ops was good but not realy been into them since. Owned them all, will the next black ops have a campaign to and not just be multiplayer like the last one

There's not enough Cold War Era shooters so I'm down. If they can capture that BLOPS 1 magic that'll make it even better.

Another 200gig and horrific servers with every game, guaranteed or your hdd space back
Treyarch seems to be a bit better with install sizes.

Based on the title, I thought it would be set in the 80s. :messenger_face_steam: I loved the original Black Ops but I can't see them returning to Vietnam. Plus if they don't have grenades every spawn (none of the regenerated nades shit from Blops 4) or smoke grenades, I'll just keep playing MW.

I wish they just skipped releasing a Cod this year Modern Warfare 2019 has so much more life into it still.

I agree with this sentiment, with Warzone being very successful for them which by default props up the standard mp it seems a misstep to release a fully new game. But then again I guess the money all goes to the same pot so they don't care.

They went with Black Ops IIIIIIIIII way of naming a game to Black Ops Cold War. Wonder who comes up with the title, it's sounding just as stupid as someone saying "I want Chai Tea Latte" when Chai and Tea are literally the same thing. duh!

Not a fan of the setting, 3A already did some fancy sci-fi spins on the weapons available back in that era in BO1, so I guess they would have to bend the reality once again if they want to get back to Cold War setting while pushing the gameplay variety. But if the story is as good as the original BO, then I cannot complain.

damn, i was hoping the BF franchise would take on that setting. i guess they still could but it would be odd.

i just dont think CoD is the type of game that can do it justice. Vietnam/Cold War needs hueys, large jungle maps, jimi hendrix and CCR, ect

Cold War? So 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's tech? Im not interested. The modern setting is the best.
Go on Black Ops 1 and check out the weapon list, a good 80-85% of the weapons existed back during the setting of the first game.

I don't think that's a major loss overall. You'd still also get sights for weapons, but without MW's hybrids and thermals I'd imagine.

Hopefully they do everything the opposite of Incompetent Ward. Make good maps, stop catering to campers, bring back the mini map, dead silence as a perk, get rid of the absurd footsteps, lose the fucking doors, lose the mounting guns on corners, don't allow players to resupply their own mines / claymores, and dial back the SBMM (Activision won't allow it to be eliminated altogether).

BO4 was far from perfect, though vastly more fun than MW, so I hope they drop some stuff from it, too. Namely, 150 health, and the uber cheese specialists. Some are so OP it's ludicrous.

As long as there are Nazi zombies.

Not Vietcong zombies, not space zombies, not Titanic passenger zombies. Nazi zombies.

I have legit complaints about Modern Warfare but the minimap was brought back after the beta. When was the last time you played MW?

You still cant see enemy gunfire on the minimap though, so it doesnt function like it used to. I want the old mini map back too. Thats the kind of hide and seek game I like CoD to be.

Man Black Ops, looking back was such an amazing package and great campaign too.

And the mp is getting a 100+ people mode called Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Warzone Royale with Cheese

I understand completely why they want to keep the 'Black Ops' name. We saw what the 'Modern Warfare' name did for the sales of what was essentially Ghosts 2. 'Black Ops 5: Cold War' is acceptable.

It'll have a Campaign.

I don't mind the zombies, especially Titanic zombies, Voyage of Despair was a pretty good map.

BR could do that.

Apparently a lot of people, Modern Warfare is the highest selling CoD game of all time.

But what about Black Ops IIIII ?

I would be down for a cold war game, except if it is a Call of Duty game.. The Cold War was about espionage, secrets, assassinations, and most of all, subtlety. Those are things I'd rather have Assassin's Creed handle, not Call of Duty. I think Vietnam is much more likely. I can't see CoD playing like a stealth shooter.

There were plenty of stealth missions in CoD, having that as one game would be pretty cool. I'm sick of the over the top Michael Bay action, those are trash Campaigns.
