Tiger's ex wife Elin Nordegren buys property, demolishes home on property

Title is slightly misleading. She didn't build it and then tear it down. She bought it and tore it down, which is much more sensible. She probably just wants the property.
Yep, I seriously thought rich people did stuff like this often.

I like how ever race thread is an endless parade of people screaming society is too sensitive while every gender thread is people clamoring for bans. While Infernodash's language was stupid and inflammatory he is right in regards to how alimony is handled in America.

I'm of the opinion that someone who contributes nothing to a relationship (doesn't work, doesn't cook has chefs, doesn't clean has maids, doesn't watch the kids has nannys) isn't entitled to half of something their spouse spent a dozen hours each day to build. This applies to both men and women. I think Federline is a scumbag and I remember plenty of gaffers ragging on him, dat tunnel vision.

I think Martha Stewart is the only one to escape the "STUPID SILLY WOMAN!" card. But she had to do time to get that respect.

Changed the OP to buy but the point stands:

She bought the house in March with the intention of renovating it. Instead she didn't like it at all and now wanted it demolished to build her dream home where she will probably spend another $5-10+ million. Her hard earned money is being used for such negligent thinking and waste. I guess for some this might be viewed as a good thing as she will burn through her money but it just shows her nature. She was never this rich and got richer personally once she ex'd Tiger. On TOP of this she wants Tiger to pay even further for kids than any kid needs humanly possible while she has that $100 million

Way to look into her soul.

Its America, its her money and she can do whatever the hell she wants with it (within the law of course). I mean, you can be mad about it, but ...yeah.

Sorry, but all of this seems fine.

She is tearing down a house to build the one she wants. That isn't wasteful if you have the means to do so. This doesn't mean she is going on a rampage of destroying houses just to build new ones. Seems like she's there to stay.

It's pretty difficult to paint Tiger as a victim in this. If Tiger has the money and they are his kids, it doesn't matter how much money she already has. If they were still together and Tiger wasn't a raging sex addict, they would be living with his entire fortune, so anything she's asking for less than half makes sense in this particular case. I honestly thought she got more money than that.

She also is paid to keep up her quality of life that she had during the marriage. Which was ballllinnnnnnnn out of control.

Re:Bold -- I think its literally impossible.

Eh. It's creating jobs.

Demolishing something to build something else is only a net benefit to society if the money wasn't going to be spent on something else that may have been equally constructive, or more so. Otherwise this is just another example of the broken window fallacy. Even if you think it would have sat in their savings accounts or whatever for 15 years, you can't possibly know what it would eventually have been used for.

It happens to be the case that the money isn't being spent -- we're in a liquidity trap. Jobs right now have greater marginal utility than they would have 1 or 2 years from now, presuming the recovery continues to proceed.

Nothing wrong with getting some child support but it should go towards the children and that's it.

Child support has no business being granted to people who are already multimillionaires. The costs of raising a child are only "high" relative to her assets it she sends them all to unnecessarily extravagant schools and buys them outrageous gifts for their birthdays. If she already got the children living with her, that is enough of a "victory" out of that separation since she's loaded. For reference, she got ~ $100,000,000 from the split.

She was a swim suit model before Tiger.

She was making dough on her own. And she's attending a University now.

God damn Tiger is an idiot. Why on earth would you fuck anyone else when you had the chance to fuck this all day long?

People should applaud when the super rich spend their money. That's how it gets out to the rest of us.

She may not have been this rich before Tiger, but she seems to have come from a fairly established family:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elin_Nordegren

Nordegren was born in Stockholm, Sweden. Her mother, Barbro Holmberg, is a politician and the former Swedish migration and asylum policy minister, and the current Governor of Gävleborg County. Her father, Thomas Nordegren, is a radio journalist who served as a bureau chief in Washington, D.C.

Plus with her University studies and former jobs, I think it's likely she'd do well without Tiger. Not just another trophy wife imo.

Still hanging onto that trickle down line eh? Even as they use their money to shirk their contributions to society (i.e. avoid paying taxes), even as they use their money to 'grow their money' (i.e. grabbing bigger and bigger pieces of the economic pie) - all while not doing very much more work, because they're getting all the 'trickle down' dudes to do all the money earning for them.

I always wonder what it is about some stories that make it personal for people. Damn some people make it seem like Tiger and/or Elin shat in their Cherrios.

You're not talking about the same thing. This isn't avoiding paying taxes or investing her money. This is spending money she already has on conspicuous consumption. Trickle-down economics would be society giving her more money with the intent of having her spend it.

I'm not going to say he's right (the issue is more complex than that), but I think you're fighting a spectre.

Trickle-down economics is in very broad terms; get money to the rich, the rich will spend and take care of the rest of the economics (through conspicuous consumption).

The idea that 'this is how it gets out to the rest of us' is a championing of that idea. Almost phrased as to imply that it is the primary or only way money gets to the rest of us.

Which of course, is implicitly false; I brought up taxes as an example of how money gets to the rest of society without conspicous spending.

I also mentioned the idea that a lot of the spending that the wealthy do simply helps them further concentrate and build their wealth - and isn't used to actually create jobs or wealth in the rest of society.

Here's a hint: she's Swedish. Even her pussy is probably icy.

Also, I have to give her credit. This is one of the most elaborate trolls I've ever seen. She's pretty much burning his money in front of him.

Nah, if the new house includes a putting green, then she would be trolling.

Yeah, that's it, I'm heading down to North Palm Beach and becoming a pool boy or something.

"Yes, I would like some lemonade from inside, Miss Nordegren."
