Is there some sort of chart that explains what it's socially acceptable to spend money on? I just want to know what outrages the plebeians for when I strike it rich...
Wasn't there a thread a few months ago about some Russian oligarch who has like half a dozen yachts?

Don't worry that will never happen. You'll die poor just like everybody else

Teardowns are pretty common especially on oceanfront property like this. I'd say the land is most of that $12 million.

Tiger did a teardown on three properties when he built his new place.

He built a fucking golf course? And re-planted trees everywhere? ...

Land is the best investment, but for $12 million I would expect a couple hundred acres at least..

No way, it's 12 ACRES of prime real estate in N. Palm Beach. An acre is at least 2-3 million bucks there, easy. I know for a fact that one acre of land in a similar spot in like Boca can go for $2-3 million.

.

She bought the land for 12 million, and tore down the house that was on it. I kind of agree with her, that house looks like a trainwreck of design, and was probably built cheaply anyways. The materials of the house itself were probably only worth about 200,000$ of that price.

I could see if it was some historical monument, but a mcmansion probably built no later than 15-20 years ago is nothing to cry over being destroyed. We actually have problems in some areas where houses (that have no other significance other than being old) aren't being replaced. Shit, the house I'm renting now is 110 years old.

Why not just sell it, unless the location is the most important part?

That's what I was thinking. Looks like some prime land. Still, the house had to have been worth a few million as an improvement to the land. It probably didn't go with her furniture so she'll just build a new one.

Actually other than being really huge, that mansion isn't that great looking IMO. The architectural style is boring to me.

Sooo she already blew more than 10% of those 100 millions on a house to tear it down?

That's one smart financial decision, she's surely set for life with that sum.
NOT

im sure most of the 12 million was for the land anyway

This.

Buying property for its location and land, and demolishing the present house to build something new is quite common. The actual house is the less valuable part (monetarily at least), building a new place will cost her a fraction of the land cost.

Normal people spend 10% of their wealth monthly on wasteful things. That's the beauty of being rich. Even if she blew away 90%, she would still be wealthy...and living in brand new custom built dream house on oceanfront property. Being rich is already a smart financial decision.
Plus when she inevitably gets married again, it'll be to another rich dude.

Yeah, Sweden is a real hell hole. Lord have mercy on the people living there.

Yeah, poor us! :(

Agree, I have no problem with what she did.

Within the system she is living in, this is perfectly acceptable.

I might have something to say about the system as a whole (alimony, spouse getting half etc.), but that's another discussion.

She probably bought in Florida, so the kids would be close to their daddy. Nothing strange about it.

Don't understand where people who assume she is a horrible person are coming from. I've never met her and have no opinion either way (though I do have friends who knew her and knows at least one of her exes).

I bet 5 years, 5 years before she has wasted all the money given to her and has to file for bankruptcy.

Wanna bet? Her current boyfriend is a multi-multi-millionaire financier and the son of a BILLIONAIRE with all kinds of money in all kinds of places, esp. China and Russia.

If she marries him, she won't even notice what her checkbook looks like.

I wish I was a beautiful blond...

Good for her. There are much dumber things she could have done with that that money

Really though, you guys process in hundreds, maybe thousands.15-20% of your cash spent on a house isn't all that unreasonable. Her scale of value is just a little fucked up.

I spent 100 000% of my cash on an apartment. my place is probably a little cheaper to maintain though

Maybe she will have something less ugly and oversized built. Imagine the amount of house keepers you'd need for that monstrosity.

If I was super rich I'd still want something livable that I could take care of myself, especially if I wouldn't be working. I hate the idea of having other people running around, going through my stuff and doing things that I pay them for, but could do myself.

Indeed. She's beautiful so she fucks rich, he's rich so he fucks beautiful. It's a 2-way street.

She was born beautiful, he earned his money through work/time/dedication etc..

Not taking sides here btw, just saying there's definitely a difference imo.

Being a model is much harder than standing around in clothes just as being a golfer is harder than hitting a ball with a stick. They both earned their pennies fair 'n' square.

If you think she got through university and got a modelling career without any 'work/time/dedication', you're crazy!
