Still no bankais from some of the captains...

Aizen bankai will be like... All this was a figment of Ichigos imagination after bleaching his hair... He was a victim of Aizens kyouka suigetsu ability from the start

I think we haven't seen aizens bankai because it would literally be straight hax. His shikai was enough to kick off an whole arc and beat numerous captains/vizards.

I mean Urahara's sidekick at his shop was literally the Kido grand poobah, and yet he's done exactly one thing, 8 years ago.

Kubo has the problem where he introduced WAY TOO GOD DAMN MANY power sets that are all functionally the exact same.

Soooo who's going to end up with Ichigo? Rukia or Orihime? :p

If I had to wager a guess on what the final pairings of Bleach will be, I'd say: Ichigo/Orihime, Renji/Rukia, Ishida/His Hand and Chad/The Ground.

If any of the nakama die, I'd say the most likely candidate is Ishida. Dude goes out sacrificing himself with the arrowhead while also helping take out Ywach.

Until Aizen appears and says since when were you under the impression you were reading bleach and you look down and its Naruto filler. The real end.
no you find out some janitor got high from bleach fumes while cleaning the toilet and hallucinated the manga. the manga ending is him coming back to reality and flushing the toilet.

Does Bleach even really have a main character? Honestly. I feel like there are more chapters spent on the side characters, then Ichigo himself.

And yet none of the side characters actually ever do anything.

It's baffling.

probably feels that way because he is really uninteresting. even his powers are pretty damn boring. the author probably spends a ton of time on other characters because he can invent new powers to keep things fresh.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.

It's why he's essentially Mega Man.
"You're a human with temporary Shinigami powers, no wait you had them all along, and you have Hollow powers, now you can combine them, oh and you're a Fullbringer now whatever that is, and it turns out you were also a Quincy all along"
"So I have all these awesome moves now?"
"Hahahahahaha no, you still just do Getsuga Tenshou over and over again"

The Ichigo just doing getsuga tensho over and over thing is really baffling. Why bother with the fullbringing shit if he's just going to fully bring his old powers back, it's such a waste. Maybe editor meddling?

Bleach could have used some Jojo style protag changes, might have made the whole thing a lot more interesting

Yeah Bleach has a REAL problem with trying to focus on to many characters it comes across as a mess.

Hell even if we can call Ichigo the main character, who's the 2nd most important?

I would like to say Rukia, but she just isn't anymore.

Nahh, stick Chitoge with Raku. They're perfect, one trash paired up with another piece of trash.

People pairing Ichigo with Rukai is always icky to me. Basically pairing a young healthy lad with what basically amount as a hundred years old ghost of a dead person, hahaha.

Rukia's character can basically be erased right now with no consequence whatsoever to the overall plot, lol.

What did Ichigo even do this arc? He was such a non-presence that it's hard to remember.

He went to Hueco Mundo to see what was going on, fought the jailer quincy, got sealed for some time and heard everyone dying in the invasion. Killed Chaz Domino, sees a mearly dead Byakuya, tries to kill Bach, gets fucked, learns he's a quincy and gets his sword broken.

This is what he did in the first day and really the most he does this arc.

Get played like a damn fiddle.

I think a big part of the problem is that post-Aizen and Fullbring... What DO you do with him? He reached an absurd pinnacle that all but the most powerful foes should be, and usually ARE, a joke to him (hell, I wonder if it was Haschwalth's balance that broke his bankai earlier and he would've sliced through his blade like butter otherwise) whereas before he was definitely still growing or regaining his powers and thus there was more of a conflict to actually focus on.

I think i'd like the whole series better if there was literally any character development at all.

There's just none, Ichigo is exactly the same as he was on Chapter 1, hell he might even have regressed as a character really.

What are his motivations? Why is he fighting? Why does he do what he does? Who knows. Who cares. Check out that sweet sword!

I mean, none of the characters are even characters. They're walking powers with mouths. Nothing about that is compelling.

So is Aizen still on the level where he his reiatsu couldn't be sensed and he was "transcendent" or whatever, I don't remember anyone saying anything about it. How does current Ichigo stack up against Mugetsu, I assume he should be stronger but he doesn't seem to be transcendent like before, or he is and I just don't be remember.

Yeah, but that in itself wouldn't be a bad thing if Kubo made everyone compelling. Gon is that main character in HxH, but it doesn't feel odd when chapters are spent focusing on side characters

hell there are a ton of people who wish togashi would spend more time on other characters since they are really interesting.

Well yeah because Togashi actually writes characters, not walking swords that occasionally spout exposition on a story that's not actually a story. It's "beat this guy, now beat this guy, now beat this guy, kay mangas over"

I subscribe to the theory that Ywach has been fighting illusions/fodder since the moment he entered "Aizen's Soul Society". Aizen may already have released bankai. Someone else also pointed out that Ichigo and Renji have barely said a word, which seems a bit suspicious.

LMAO!!! You made me choke on my orange juice!!!!

Speaking of relationships: what happened to "momo"? She had completely disappeared in this latest arc(or I just can't remember what happened to her.

Next week is Bleach last chapter. 685.

Damn, Kubo really dropped the ball with this last arc.

Wait what!?!?!? KUBO!!!!!!!! *shakes fist*

I stopped like 5 years ago when they said this was the final arc. Finally cut this shit and we can hopefully get something good as a replacement.
I don't get complaints like this unless you read every single manga released on JUMP on a weekly basis, and Bleach is the only thing that you don't enjoy.

Naruto "ending" and Bleach now ending as well. I remember when these along with OP were the big 3 several years back, brings back some memories.

Last I remember the giant quincy attacked Hinamori and Shinji went to rescue her. After that, both disappeared.

Final chapter:

Ichigo and Aizen stand triumphant over the comatose Yhwach. Ichigo lets out a sigh of relief and grins at Orihime, Chad, and Rukia who arrive at the scene.

"It's over. It's finally over."

But then a voice suddenly rings out from behind Ichigo.

"Since when were you under the impression that we were finished?"

Ichigo whips around. Aizen is holding out his sword. A evil smirk lines his face. Ichigo does his usual bitch-made despair face.

"Bankai."

Cut to black. The manga ends.

Wow, there's really only two chapters left?

There's no way they are wrapping up this shitshow in two chapters without something that manages to be even worse than the Gantz ending.

There needs to be a shit eating grin somewhere in there :p

I mean, the soul king is dead and if they kill juha someone has to replace him. Gonna let aizen be the king after all?

Kubo must have thought he had more chapters left than he did though.

This would actually get a good laugh out of me and be better than any other alternative. Do it.

Also, Bleach was the biggest waste of time in my life. And that's saying something.

What a shitshow.

Kubo should have been given a littlemore time to at least handle the final battle and ending. I can handle him having to skip to the final battle, but wrapping the whole series up in two more chapters, especially at Kubos pacing? (though I think there was that extra chapter supposed to happen on the volume release, so that's something at least) no fucking way this will turnout good.

This would redeem the series for me however.

LOL wait what? They haven't even beaten the fucking big bad yet and this is the last chapter?

Fucking hell I realize Bleach never really had a story or character depth but, it ran for almost 700 chapters and doesn't even get an epilogue.

That's sad.

I don't think SJ's editors would allow that kind of ending, sadly. Not that Kubo's ballsy enough to even fathom doing it in the first place, lol. Bleach is the epitome of tired shonen tropes, that's not going to change now.

My guess is Ichigo's Getsuga last chapter actually seriously wounds Yhwach, and he gets defeated by the end of 684 by Uryu's stupid Deus Ex Machinarrow. In 685, Aizen takes the place of the Soul King to achieve the dream he always wanted (godhood), and yay happy ending

Which would be lame as fuck, don't get me wrong. But there's little chance of anything else happening.

For real. At least Naruto in all its crappiness had the decency to wrap up Sasuke's development and give us a somewhat good, albeit rushed, final fight. 698/699 were genuinely great chapters. 700 tied everything together in a neat bow. As far as shonen endings go, it wasn't the worst. It was vanilla, but acceptable nonetheless

Bleach's 'ending' will be a level of shit that no one has dared attempt ever.

The last couple weeks in particular have hit me in the realization that...

What the fuck was the point of Bleach?

Naruto, well for Naruto to become Hokage and end the wars and feuds and shit. Fairy Tail, to beat Zeref and do friendship stuff. One Piece, to find fucking One Piece.

What the fuck was the story of Bleach? Who are the characters, why do they do what they do?

I can't remember a more surface level shounen and I read a shitload of shounen stuff.

It's really been bugging me.

tbh 'beat Zeref and do friendship stuff' isn't really any better than 'beat Aizen/Yhwach and do shinigami stuff' lool

Fairy Tail and Bleach are on the same level for me. Fairy Tail is less boring and repetitive but holy hell it gets stupid

Like, take the ridiculous God-sword stuff Shunsui's lieutenant used to beat that fucking flamingo Quincy and ride that on an on-going basis for the majority of the manga

It's that dumb

Oh it's dumb as SHIT. Don't get me wrong.

But at least there's a fucking plot to most of it. Like, there was a meta plot established about the dragons and Zeref like, 3 arcs in.

It was all stupid as shit, but at least it was a plot. At least there was a point to it all.

Bleach has 0 plot. It's so weird. I'm struggling to remember any other series like it. Because there IS NO NARRATIVE. It's just "beat this guy then beat this guy then we're done". Not even when it was good did it have a plot, just the possibility of one.
