So is Aizen still on the level where he his reiatsu couldn't be sensed and he was "transcendent" or whatever, I don't remember anyone saying anything about it. How does current Ichigo stack up against Mugetsu, I assume he should be stronger but he doesn't seem to be transcendent like before, or he is and I just don't be remember.
Not really sure, but the fact that he's keeping up with an Aizen that's supposedly much stronger than his final monster form all the way back in the Deicide Arc against Yhwach means Ichigo's fairly close to his Mugetsu level, if not exceeding it. I'm fairly sure that was Kubo's intent.
But Kubo can't depict scale or relative power for shit, which is why Ichigo seems piss-weak for no reason right now.
Oh it's dumb as SHIT. Don't get me wrong.
But at least there's a fucking plot to most of it. Like, there was a meta plot established about the dragons and Zeref like, 3 arcs in.
It was all stupid as shit, but at least it was a plot. At least there was a point to it all.
Bleach has 0 plot. It's so weird. I'm struggling to remember any other series like it. Because there IS NO NARRATIVE. It's just "beat this guy then beat this guy then we're done". Not even when it was good did it have a plot, just the possibility of one.
Yeah, there's nothing to work towards or resolve. In the case of Naruto, people were awaiting Naruto/Sasuke's final confrontation and resolution of their long-running conflict. Here, there's nothing to anticipate.
I guess that's why people find Ichigo such a lame MC. He has no overarching goal, no dream to fulfill, and he has no discernible personality from fucking Renji, lol. His moveset is exactly one technique and he has a really generic design as well, which is odd coming from Kubo. Also, he loses the vast majority of his fights and goes through the same despair-resolve arc against four opponents consecutively
Kubo loves to add random shit and padding whenever he can't figure out how to progress the plot or develop characters, which is why you see Ichigo with like, fifty chapters explaining his past and his mom's past and whatever, but hilariously enough,
none of that adds to Ichigo's character. It's just filler information. Oh, Ichigo's mom was a Quincy who was saved by his father? Who cares? I'm fairly sure most have already forgotten about that worthless subplot.
You can't root for him. It'd be like rooting for a brick wall to continue standing for the next fifty years, there's no point.
