wants to fuck an Asian grill.
Rukia easily deserves captain seat.

She has bankai, beat an espada, and beat a sternritter. Also her captain died leaving a vacancy, which happened when she was vice captain.

What more do you want? There are like 500 characters in this manga so accomplishments get spread out pretty thin.

We all know the end is gonna be Y-totally not Jesus but no really he's Jesus showing up and killing a few Captains only for Ichigo to bitch slap him into space and end it with a panel that's basically the same as the first time he and Rukia saw each other and say something stupid like "Hey" while smiling at each other and that'll be the end.

Aizen will use his Bankai to like, warp spacetime to get Ichigo there or something.

The 10 yrs of peace were the result of Aizen's bankai, which was basically a bubble world. Yhwach is about to break the bankai and they're all going to see a desolate wasteland around them. :( :( :(

The end.

Until Bleach 2

I still have no idea who's dead besides the two they confirmed in this chapter. They didn't even bother showing Kira.

Rukia's bankai is pretty broken, AOE absolute zero attack aint nothing to fuck with.

Well it would be if Kubo didn't just think "Absolute Zero" just meant "really really cold".

It's also kinda bullshit that the two that died, died.

Komamura was one of like, 3 characters this arc to actually get character development and they killed his ass off-screen.

Dog Captain got robbed, I thought he had a really cool story in this arc.

They brought Ishida this thing which weakens quincy powers.

Yeah I saw that part, I was left sitting there wondering "was that it?". I mean they went all the way there in their battle gear, weapons ready, just to deliver a damn stick.

I wanted to see them fight basically since everyone else was getting their asses handed to them, I didn't realise at the time there wasn't that many chapters left.

Everyone keeps talking about Aizen's bankai but I really wanted to see Isshin's
.

I also love Iba getting to be a Captain despite quite literally never being in a single on screen 1-1 fight.

Like, we've never even seen what his Shikai does let alone Bankai.

His supposedly was some kind of blood manipulation too.

Sounded awesome. But he and Ryuken kinda did... well jack shit nothing so.

since this thread doesn't have nearly enough Aizen bankai posts.

*Ichigo is hanging out with his friends when time stops and Aizen appears before Ichigo*

Aizen: hello Ichigo.........haven't you ever wondered why I never used my bankai?

Ichigo: wha...what the hell is going on.....what are you doing here.....why are you bringing this up?

Aizen: let me rephrase that question. what makes you think I haven't been using my bankai this entire time, since the day you were born?

Ichigo: *shocked face*

Aizen: Bleach

The End.

It's a gun that shoots out GTs

Yeah that blood manipulation thing sounded kinda cool, like some of Urahara's skills. We did at least a get taste of it in the flashback I guess and that flashback itself was awesome I thought.

Oh yeah that's the other thing, he does GT as well but we never found why exactly, his sword wasn't even released the few times he did it. I forgot if Ichigo could do that earlier on.

I'm still doubting she's more powerful than Renji considering their fights, but I suppose he may not want to be a captain

I'm thinking based on whatever outline Kubo had that Renji was supposed to be captain of Squad #6 now. Remember, Byakuya was basically killed off by As Nodt and only came back through what had to be meddling.

Was getting caught part of your plan?

You know Rukia, we really are the Bleach.

Didn't Isshin imply that he was also able to use Final Getsuga (which Ichigo should have used against Yhwach)? I imagine he and Ishida Sr. geared up and traveled together, in case they ran into opposition while getting to Uryu, but they didn't run into any fights along the way.

I'd love it if Kubo just said fuck it and let Ywach kill everyone in the Soul Society, then Ichigo returns and everyones just dead. Darkest turn in the mangas history for it's finale.

I mean, she does live independently on her own, staying strong after the death of her brother.

Independent =/= Cannot be in love.

Yeah - there have been a very number of NOT NORMAL things happening to Orihime since the start of the manga.

(Though to be fair, she was always weird. And didn't she say in the beginning of the manga that 10 years later she'd be an evil robot tank?)

Rukia had a sister who remembered her but apparently were in different soul society castes. Also Rukia then aged and her sister died in death and Byakuya adopted Rukia.

Rukia and her sister arrived together, but her sister abandoned her because it was too hard to care for a baby.

Hisana was still a peasant when she married Byakuya.

You remind how Inoue was a bubbly but cool character at the beginning and became a total ditz after the arrancar invasion. Sad

Kinda like how Rukia became pretty much irrelevant after the Arrancar Arc, how Chad was permanently established as Life's Punching Bag and so on and so forth? And of course, how Ichigo went from being a Shakespeare-loving punk with a heart of gold to possibly the most generic shonen protagonist ever?

It's all on Kubo's inability to properly develop the main characters and how he just let himself get more and more lost in the sea of side-characters he kept coming up with. Orihime just has the bad luck of being the character that's canonically confirmed to be romantically interested in Ichigo in that whole larger problem. Hence why Kubo just started defaulting to all those "Kurosaki-kun"s in the Arrancar Arc.

And actually, one detail about Orihime that I always found interesting was how she was really the only one of the main crew that had literally no experience in combat when the series starts. Ichigo and Chad got in fights with other punks during middle school, Ishida was trained since his childhood to be a Quincy, Rukia and Renji are veteran shinigami. Orihime, in contrast, is a relatively ordinary young woman whose main struggles up to that point have primarily just been living on her own after her brother died.

There's a ton of potential with that kind of set-up for a character and while I noticed that Orihime was more confident than she previously had been in the Arrancar Arc during her team up with Ichigo in the previous round against Ywach (in which they ultimately got rekt), it's a damn shame that Kubo couldn't handle that sort of character potential nearly as well as he could have.

You have to have Bankai to be a captain, Kemp Kenpachi is the acception. Rukia is likely more powerful than any other vice captains and probably some captains. Her ability is actually pretty broken
You don't necessarily need to have a Bankai. You can also become captain by defeating a captain in a 1-1 battle with at least 200 witnesses of said division (like Kenpachi) or having the personal recommendation from at least six captains and the approval of at least three of the remaining seven captains. I could imagine Iba and Isane became captains this way.

Bleach has been such overwhelmingly confounding crap for so long that it's erased details like that from my memory. :/

Oh right

Which strikes me as weird as to why Ikkaku and Renji didn't get promoted over them though. Considering they do have Bankai, AND have leadership experience.

Wouldn't be surprised if the "surprise announcement" is a new series that Kubo was working on / more interested in for the past few years already.

I'm still calling that this peace was a(n Aizen) bankai as the final chapter twist tho.

You can be promoted to be captain of other divisions. Gin was Vice Captain of Squad 5 but made captain of Squad 3, for example.
Not this round of promotions, it seems.

Unohana -> Isane (Squad 4)
Komamura -> Iba (Squad 7)
Ukitake -> Rukia (Squad 13)

It's all directly upward from the squads that lost their captains. The only exception seems to be Lisa, who is taking Squad 8 because Kyoraku moved to Squad 1 as Captain Commander.

It probably sucks for the lieutenants who lost their captains but had the Vizards replace them, like 69 Face. They might never get their chance now.

It's sad to see people bring up how to become a captain, because I for sure believe Kubo forgot all about that and is just... you captain now, you captain now, you too.

Remember 4 is the healing squad, so I can see that following different rules. You don't want Renji in charge, and I don't think Ikkaku carrying ointment in his zanpakto is a good enough pedigree for healing.

I would imagine every squad has its own specialization (like 12 is the science squad), so they're all basically different divisions of the organization. You wouldn't promote a Marketing manager to run Art, for example.
