I didn't even realize last chapter that it was the end end of the fight,

Did it get canceled?
Well, it sounds like it'll get a proper final chapter, so who knows whether it was out and out canceled, whether they pressured him to wrap it up, or they even gave him a lot of freedom and he just squandered it.

Well the announcement that it was ending said there'd be colour pages unless the first page is what they meant and it wasn't in this issue.

So I guess next week is the actual end.

It said so in the chapter, yes.

There's also a solid chance the chapter isn't out for nearly two weeks though, because I think there's a Japanese holiday coming up.

What if next chapter is one page of Ywhach showing up and nuking everyone and then 15 pages of him laughing in the void?

RIP Soul Society.

If it continues as a happy ending, Bleach would be the most pathetic anime I've ever seen. Seriously, an unnecessary flash forward with Rukia promoted, Yhwach defeated by an unexplained asspull and no showing of an immediate aftermath? What the fuck is this shit? An ending so shit not even having great artwork or characters like Aizen would allow the series be remembered warmly by me.

The only thing that can save this from happening is if it's somehow an illusion, or Yhwach has been waiting for their happiest moment like he said he would.
More likely than not we have more to see of Yhwach. His previous words, his reiatsu and his black goo all point to him returning to cause more chaos. I would jump with joy if that happens. And if he does do more than just rearranging the landscape, like actually killing people this time, I would feel hugely satisfied.

We can only hope this is the case. You know your manga is bad when the only satisfying conclusion is everything being an illusion or everyone dying.

If he does appear again I have a feeling Ichigo will make a grand entrance and kill him off

Fuck I can already see that happening.

Yhwach:MWAHAHAHAHA! I told you all didn't I? I'd come back and slaughter you all when you're at your happiest!

Ichigo: * from behind, puts his hand on Yhwach's shoulder* Sorry Yhwach. That was my reiatsu they were sensing.

I allways asumed they told Kubo a date by which he had to finish the manga. But I'm starting to think he was just recently called into a meeting and told "ok screw that date, you have 3 more chapter and that's it"

He has allways had problems with pacing but you'd think that after all his this time even he would know to cut like 15 chapter of "Yhwach is so strong" which is basically all that has been happening for the past half year, and replace them with an actual decent final fight instead of one chapter of "deus ex arrow, one hit, ok it's 10 years later"

So has somebody's super Bankai been revealed to be called "Bleach" which retcons the entire series into never happening so that it ends with Ichigo n' pals in a classroom when suddenly a butterfly flies past him and we cut to "END" yet?

I think more than likely they told him this is the final arc, Bleach languished at the bottom of the rankings for four years, and then they told him he should start wrapping it up about a year ago. That was around when there was a brief hiatus that said "Kubo Tite is preparing for the final battle!" and they went up to fight Ywach in the rocket.

Clearly they were not happy with how fast he was ending it and figured four years was enough time to end the arc. I do think they surprised him with how much longer he had, but I suspect they surprised him because he couldn't take the hint.

The final issue will come in separate packaging along with the main Jump mag, in a large, inflated looking plastic bag. Upon opening it, you'll breath in a a cloud of noxious gas, only realizing what is happening when you see the title of the final chapter: "+ Ammonia."

It needs to happen.

This bankai has no name, but if I had to give it one...

troll smirks at reader

...it'd be called "Bleach".

End of Manga.

lol yes!

I am not going to put blame solely on Kubo. Mangaka can be pressured to make more chapters when the series is popular so they have to include filler stuff, and then they suddenly get canned when the sales aren't there or some other controversy. These whims of the publishers affect pacing and quality. We don't know if Kubo was originally expected to make the arc last for more than 200 chapters, then suddenly cancelled on him.

I'd love it if Kubo just said fuck it and let Ywach kill everyone in the Soul Society, then Ichigo returns and everyones just dead. Darkest turn in the mangas history for it's finale.

I don't care if Kubo did plan for this shit to last 8 years or whatever, this arc did not need to be so poorly paced and drawn out in the 1st place, I'm glad they brought the down guillotine on his ass.

There was no need for 26 goddamn villains, if Kubo had all he time he wanted he probably would've had most of them get their own dragged out meaningless fight one after the other.

I think a troll ending is they only way this could possibly end "well". Lol

Can we talk about how bad of a character fuckin' YMCA was. There is little to nothing explained about him or his motives.

Why did he pick Uryu to succeed him?

Why does he hate his father so much?

Is the soul king truly his father, or is there more to their relationship that needed to be explained?

What did he ultimately want in the end?

How did Yamamoto defeat him?

I guess none of this matters, but he was such a terrible villain compared to Aizen. Zero intelligence and personality, all he had was a broken power (that was baffling in its explanation) and bragged about said broken power when using it and defeating his opponents.

At first it looked Yhwach would be a good villain, especially after he killed Yamamoto. After that, he became boring and even more overpowered than Aizen. And of course, lacking the charisma Aizen has.

See, there is the philosophical disagreement of whether hollows should be simply slain or annualized like Quincies too, as well as the bad blood from when the soul society wiped out most of the Quincies, but it's never really explained for Ywach personally, only implied. There's an implied relationship with Yamamoto, but it's never really gone into in much detail.

He just comes off as reincarnated god-king who is evil only because he has a lot of power. Pretty boring. It's implied he's got beef with the shinigami, but we never learn his personal stakes.
Not even a post-death flashback "oh he was really after this one thing all along and got lost along the way".

Maybe if he didn't spend literally 35 chapters on Gerard Valkyrie (that Thor looking dude) fighting and coming back the ending could have had more time to wrap up. That being said it is pretty clear this ending had to be rushed.

At the end of the day Bleach's main problem is too many characters. This could be a good problem to have in a fighting manga like this but it needs to be handled the right way. Bringing back Valkyrie about 15 times is such a waste of time.

Kubo likes drawing cool ass characters and cool ass power ups. When you have like 30+ of them it becomes really hard to manage. Bleach could have been much better if it had a bigger focus on the main character and his friends. Still have all your side characters, but limit the fights they have to 2-3 chapters max.

It's even more hilarious because Gerard wasn't even beaten at the end of the day. He just got his powers sapped by Yhwach in the middle of his fight for reasons

Looking for meaning in GAF
I just want a troll ending. Please.
Ywahwawhawrhwahahaaha actually destroyed the world and killed/enslaved everyone.

The happy world is just an illusory dream world created by Aizen's bankai in a heroic attempt to save everyone from the misery of the real world.

AIZEN WAS THE GOOD GUY ALL ALONG

Wasn't that the same chapter where the magical Ewok-killing silver arrowhead was suddenly given to Uryu? (Whose recently-introduced power had also recently been said might be capable of beating Ewok.)

I'm guessing that was the week that Kubo got the phone call.

So the new captains are just the former vice captains, stepping up to replace their fallen squad leaders. Fuck meritocracy then.

I thought Rukia was like 5th seat or something, though. Maybe all the top seats of Squad 13 died.

Lol I was just thinking that. The people under her must be like "freaking nobles getting the leg up, this shit wouldn't have happened under Yamamoto, grumble grumble."

Genuinely was surprised Genji didn't get it. Though I suppose Rukia, at least, has some leadership skills with how she well she coached Ichigo.

She got promoted to vice captain during the original time skip and when her brother stopped holding back her progress.

And logically most vice captains WOULD be vice captains because they're ALMOST good enough to be captain.

You have to have Bankai to be a captain, Kemp Kenpachi is the acception. Rukia is likely more powerful than any other vice captains and probably some captains. Her ability is actually pretty broken

Exactly, they're vice captains for a reason... they take over if a their captain dies, that's why they're vice captains...

Yeah, it freezes the blood...of ghosts. And her captain had tuberculosis.

I'm still doubting she's more powerful than Renji considering their fights, but I suppose he may not want to be a captain

Like I'd figure the whole "you killed me species you dick" would have been good justification to make him an actual character instead of a walking mountain of mua hahaha evil.

But, you know, Kubo kinda can't write.

that said if the "super secret announcement" is Kubo doing a sequel or continuation in some way it'll be hysterical. "Wrap all this convoluted shit up in a haphazardly idiotic way only to then just make a new, even more convoluted story out of the wreckage."
