Praying for the family and the victims. I'm sure he wishes he could go back in time and change what happened. We were all young and made mistakes. I'm glad with the help of Christ he was able to change, many people just don't and stay in their ways. However, his actions are still bringing him consequences today, there's no getting away from that.

He didn't change, he got worse. "We were all young and made mistakes" is apologist bullshit as no the fuck we did not all molest people and then also grow up to crusade against the rights of people we don't even know because of their sexual orientation.

Think.

We were all young and made mistakes? dude molested, got caught, molested again, got caught, molested again, over a couple of years.

"The problem is that tolerant has changed its meaning. It used to mean 'I may disagree with you completely, but I will treat you with respect. Today, tolerant means – 'you must approve of everything I do.' There's a difference between tolerance and approval. Jesus accepted everyone no matter who they were. He doesn't approve of everything I do, or you do, or anybody else does either. You can be accepting without being approving." - Rick Warren

Did you molest any children when you were a teenager?

This is why so many people think religion is horseshit. What a bunch of apologetic drivel.

No one's asking for Christians to accept homosexuals, but actively campaigning against their civil rights isn't what I'd consider showing someone respect.

What is this. How can someone genuinely hold these beliefs? Yikes. Sometimes I take not being nuts for granted, I guess.

I can see there is nothing to be had from further engagement with you.

I feel bad for the girls he molested. No amount of prayer or closeness to God will take away the fact that they were abused by a family member in their own homes and their own beds.

That stays with you...

No

What he did was wrong. There's no getting around that. I just don't think that defines the person he is today.

Agreed. I myself have nothing against them getting civil rights. It's the marrying part. But we agree

I can't believe people are defending this. All three of them (the parents and Josh) should be in prison.

So you don;t think I should be able to get married if the one I fall in love with happens to be a woman? I thought you were a good guy jorge.

No

Five girls were molested, and five girls were guilted into forgiving him.

A five year old girl cannot forgive a 15 year old, nevermind completely understand the ways an older brother may have damaged her. She can only be manipulated into thinking it was her fault, which from the evidence is precisely what was done.

It's absolutely disgusting.

Please read the thread. After you've read what he actually did, and all the verbal abuse they tried to hide under some dogma bullshit guise of counselling, please come back and try again.

Why are the defenders saying he's been punished enough, when they literally blame the girls for his issues in their "teachings"? And it wouldn't have been punished, aka publicly known, were it not for some leak.

You're very sick, you too should be kept away from children. You're just another religious extremist wacko defending child molestation. Now as far as I am concerned only one type of person defends child molesters and calls molesting child a "young mistake"... Well adjusted people know that child molesters are the lowest of the low. But so many religious extremists like yourself love to defend child molesters, and praise jesus for protecting those child molesters You see well adjusted people who were raised by sane people would never allow an animal like Josh Duggar or his father around children. Certainly not anyone who defends them and calls rape a small mistake.

Please read the thread. After you've read what he actually did, and all the verbal abuse they tried to hide under some dogma bullshit guise of counselling, please come back and try again.

He did read it and he is spouting the same child molester defense force BS as the Duggar family. What does that tell you?

I wonder what the response from all these "Christians" would be if this was the son of John Q. Democrat who was a big Obama contributor.

So you don;t think I should be able to get married if the one I fall in love with happens to be a woman? I thought you were a good guy jorge.
Hey, you have to respect his opinion to decide whether you can get married or not. Please have some tolerance.

You have got to be shitting me

How is it that Ireland, stereotypically super catholic, gets the inherent irony of this, but our big half assed bible thumpers don't?

So you think Christ made him stop molesting kids? Why didn't Mr. magic just prevent him from doing it in the first place?

How are they going to be home school when their mom is pregnant all the time? This always was my problem with them, at some point the older kids were raising the younger ones.

god works in misterious ways, remember. Also since is home shcool they can teach them what ever the fuck they want, or not.

Free will, of course. Free will that is randomly superseded by god's decision making when he decides to do things.

The times god chooses not to act doesn't make him a dick, he's just choosing, at those times, to give us the gift of free will!

Or something.

I am a good guy. We just have different beliefs. No I don't agree with marrying someone of the same sex. But I have nothing against homosexuals, most are actually good people. Again tolerance, respect and acceptance, does not equal approval :)

Fighting for the Freedom to discriminate against you = respect.

Nothing but Christian love coming from Warren and friends.

The modern catholic church is far more progressive than most American evangelical institutions.

So glad we're good people but that you wish we couldn't get married because reasons...

I am a good guy. We just have different beliefs.

Yup sane people are against child rape, you on the other hand are not. No you are not a good guy. Good people don't believe two people in love shouldn't be able to get married. Vile people do believe that child sexual assault is "just a little mistake" though.

Different beliefs. I can't have mine?

Even murderers think your beliefs are disgusting, just go to a federal penitentiary and see for yourself.

Funny how it's only superseded when it's something shitty religious people are trying to excuse.

Different beliefs. I can't have mine?

You can believe any shitty thing you like and people can believe you're a shitty person based on said beliefs.
As someone religious, are you against abortion?

Well, it's obvious nothing I say will be taken seriously. It's all of you > me. It's fine, I understand, as I'm the outcast here. I apologize if I hurt anyone with anything I said. I was just giving my opinion. I honestly want the best for everyone, not just in this situation but with everyone on this thread. I know we won't see eye to eye, and I don't expect it either. Again, I apologize if I came out wrong. No I don't believe in rape, molesting, and of course I don't think it's right, just like I don't think what he did was right at all.

Don't be so harsh. They have a cell tower which brings 5K a month alone. They have done disgraceful things, but having 19 children is not one of them.

If you have to make your older children be the primary caregivers for your younger children because there is not enough time in the day for you to be a full-time parent to all your children then perhaps something could be improved with your parenting approach.

These kids are not wards of the state being given a home they never had.

I am a good guy. We just have different beliefs. No I don't agree with marrying someone of the same sex. But I have nothing against homosexuals, most are actually good people. Again tolerance, respect and acceptance, does not equal approval :)

How can you not see the contradiction in logic here? Refusing to approve of someone else's lifestyle and sexual preferences is quite definitively the *opposite* of acceptance.

If you do not approve, and you make that known publicly, you *aren't* being tolerant, and you aren't being accepting, no matter how much you try to distort words in order to maintain a cognitively dissonant perspective. If you want to be tolerant, at the very least remain inert to same sex marriage/preferences, but don't claim you don't approve.

I am a good guy. We just have different beliefs. No I don't agree with marrying someone of the same sex. But I have nothing against homosexuals, most are actually good people. Again tolerance, respect and acceptance, does not equal approval :)

We don't need your approval.

We need you to not interfere.

Funny how it's only superseded when it's something shitty religious people are trying to excuse.

Eh, the arbitrarity with which god supposedly steps into to prevent bad things from happening to people, when he is supposedly omnibenevolent, omnipotent, and omniscient, is one of the many things that eventually lead me to stop believing in the whole concept anyway.

I mean, he supposedly set the rules within which all these bad things happen, but he bears no responsibility! Because reasons.

Honestly, I thought pedos were the 1 thing that everyone, no matter what side of the aisle your on, hated irrationally (not that it's irrational to hate on molesters, but in the sense that people turn into 'couldn't hurt a fly' people to frothing at the mouth, rip out their guts people). Crazy american conservatives prove me wrong once again.

I wonder what the response from all these "Christians" would be if this was the son of John Q. Democrat who was a big Obama contributor.

Didn't Bill Clinton collect a lot of money and spend a ton of time on the private island of a huge pedo? How long did that stay in the news?

"But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea."

Now, do you believe the experience of being molested brought these girls (the true and only victims in this) closer to Christ or farther from him?

And no, not what they said publicly, but in their hearts and minds. Seeds of doubt and thoughts of leaving the faith and such.
