Gloves are your best bet, can roll both crit chance and damage, apart from +dmg for your preferred weapon type. Will provide a significant dps boost.
Chest armor can only roll crit damage I think.
Rest of it from Optics and Muzzles.
Try to roll a Vector with Fierce, Deadly and Vicious. Crits for days.
Get a scope that gives you the most crit % chance and headshot damage. You'll never use the zoom scope on a SMG in any case.
I have a purple one that gives 6.50% crit chance + 18% headshot dmg, so no real need to spend PC on a HE scope right now.

Guys which would you say is more beneficial, 6% Critical hit bonus or 15% headshot damage bonus?

Is there a cap on sticky bomb damage? Mines at 250,000 exact, seems a strange coincidence

Both can roll at the same time and will provide a decent boost.
If you can only get one, then go for crit chance since SMG's have the highest chance to crit of all the weapon types.

Yeah, I have one just like yours. Legendary 18% HS Damage and 6.5% Critical Hit Chance.
I'm wondering if buying the HE blueprint is worth it... What do you think?

thank you DJ, I'm asking because I have a few attachments and was wondering which trait i should focus on.. From what I gather it's better to go with Crit on SMGs.
Does each names boss drop a specific HE item or is it entirely RNG?

Can you run hard dailies more than once for more purple gear? I'm still a weak 30.
You can rerun the final mission "General Assembly". It has 3 named enemies plus the final boss that all drop purples.

Run the BK drive thru until you get enough purples to gear up

Matchmake with a couple of randoms/friends and go through the DZ. Purples for days.

I don't know the max range of the HE scopes but from what I've seen, they aren't that much higher than 6.5/18 of a purple one. Which is why I haven't crafted one myself. If you have PC to spare give it a shot and come back with the results of your rolls
I took the plunge.
After a feel tries, rolled 20% HS Damage and 8% Crit Chance.
It made my DPS go up by 3k... Not sure if it's worth the mats.

Pretty happy with my DPs here considering it's pure output from a Pakhan and I haven't even started to stack crit chance or crit damage buffs. All the DPS is via HE gear mods and weapon attachments.
Once I roll my Vector better, I'll start rerolling armor for crits. Still, 130,000+ DPS on an LMG is pure laser murder.

Currently Level 22. I am very much enjoying it. Great to see there's a DivisionGAF community, will join for sure :3.
It's kinda too bad that there's no real incentive to join the DZ before you hit 29-30. Any gear I get I just replace too quickly and the only reason to grind DZ before 30 is to lessen the Grind to DZLvl50 when you're 30.

Nope, only one stat can be calibrated on a gear piece. It can be done multiple times though.
