Tony Kornheiser suspended 2 weeks from ESPN for insulting Hannah Storm

That's pretty funny because I was watching ESPN the other day and my girlfriend walked in and made a comment about what the women were wearing. Something about it being "unprofessional" especially considering that the men on SportsCenter are dressed in suits and ties - I don't remember the exact words she used to describe their outfits but they were not flattering in the least. I'm almost certain that she was talking about Hannah Storm at the time too. I don't care what women on ESPN wear (for starters, they all look like they could either be my mom or one of her friends :\) and I never gave it a second thought so it's pretty funny to me seeing a story related to it a few weeks later.

Hannah storm is such a tease, she always has that cute "I want to mess around with some young guy, don't tell my husband" smile going on. But her and Josh Elliott make a good team on sportscenter, I enjoy watching them.

Does anyone understand that Catcher in the Rye reference? I don't recall Holden being into MILFS. Oh god, I just used the word milf.

I think he was referring to the part where Holden got that older prostitute at the hotel room.

holden didn't exactly fantasize about that prostitute y'know?

it's more likely a reference to sally and her ice skating skirt.

What an incredibly rookie move. You do not make fun of the woman that's sleeping with the boss. You leak that to Deadspin.

ESPN overlords are idiots and have no clue about the market they serve.

Hopefully Dan Patrick picks up on that Deadspin/Berman angle on tomorrow's show. He's been talking about Tony's suspension all week and that's just the kind of scandalous Bristol shit that he loves.

I'll say this again: Tony was SPOT ON, however it's not Hannah doing this, it's ESPN and this was their way of saying "Don't rock the boat" to Kornheiser.

I like TK (even after he sucked it up on MNF) but this was just out of line mainly because Storm apparently wasn't in on "the joke". If she was a part of his show and they had a regular back and forth, thats one thing, but to just for no reason blast a woman's appearance is not only douchey, in any other workplace or office environment it will get you fired (and remember, ESPN had to act on this since they apparently have a history of male employees sexually harassing/having affairs with/sending pictures of their cocks to female employees)

Kornhole is my favorite person on ESPN. PTI would be lacking with out him, ESPN should suck it up and let him and Storm deal with it personally if theres any beef

OTOH, I fucking hate Berman's fat ass. We all loved him when he first rolled out those chestnuts like "back back back back" and so on, but now he's tired, lame and taking a seat from a more qualified and knowledgeable announcer. Give Chris a clip show or something. He'd be perfect for that. Have him countdown the highlights of the day or something. But get him off everything else...especially football. Honestly, am I the only one who'd love to see Hank Goldberg (who's actually older) take his place? I loved grumpy, old Hank on WQAM a decade ago, and he's still my favorite horse handicapper. I'd much rather listen to Hanks's opinion on a team than Chris. PEACE.

Agreed. I freakin hate Berman's idiotic nicknames he comes up with for players. They're not clever, just so juvenile. Hey Boomer, they weren't funny the first 5000 times you've used them.

That's my opinion. I like TK and MW. PTI saved ESPN in the late-afternoon. I'd watch the show, but I'm just more politically-inclined right now. But really, the 'drobe of the ESPN crew is not down to them. ESPN heavily controls our access to these announcers, whether we notice or not. It's why I say these females are more vetted than your average cable anchor. They need to know more about their subject than a similar guy.

I really like the ladies I listed, and wouldn't want more qualified ladies shying away because of some perceived sexism. Again, as someone that honestly can't take female commentary on football (probably because I'm sexist/misogynist), I think the female reporters deserve a better rap than this. I don't know if I'm misogynist or not, but if someone asked me to vote against abortion or something like that, I'd vote against it.

EDIT: Wilbon overtook Kornheiser as the authority on sports after the MNF debacle IMO. Tony became more of a punchline guy, and Wilbon became much more of a respected analyst as a result. IMO, Michael worked more on providing intel than Tony who relied more on providing entertainment via outrageous commentary. PEACE.

"Tony Kornheiser suspended 2 weeks from ESPN for not kissing everyone's ass, simultaneously"

That network has zero spine. Plus his comments are completely true.

I don't know why you guys are blaming ESPN. Like ninja scooter said, there's no workplace that would allow a male employee to get away with those comments.

Wilbon is smarter than TK when it comes to anything sports related.

Still, they're a damned good pair. PTI is weak when they're both not there.

Just the NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL.

if in the middle of an interview an NFL player told Michelle Tafoya the things Kornheiser said you don't think Goodell would at least fine his ass?

Wilbon isn't an authority on anything. The only thing he knows anything about is basketball and even there his bias won't let him see things clearly. They're both clueless about most of the sports discussed on the show.

That said, they're still entertaining together. :p

[edit] Oh, and TK is right about Hannah's outfit, but he probably went too far.

Wilbon's bias is present, sure, but anything Chicago-sports wise, he's fucking on top of it. I usually agree with him on everything, too.

Also, just want to add the Lebatard is a douchebag.

I think it's a good idea if I walk around my office right now and try this out on my co-workers.

Storm is very attractive, but she does wear some shit on air worthy of getting blasted on. The women dress a bit less and less on these shows all the time. As a simple guy, I don't mind. If I were a co-worker though, some of their outfits would be pretty damned unprofessional.

TK is awesome though. PTI is awesome and Around the Horn is awesome. That's about all the awesome that exists on ESPN. Oh, and Tony Reali (sp). He's awesome. That dude should be on every show.

what a bunch a puritans in this thread (or tony lovers maybe)... her tits aren't hanging out, that top is not "sausage casing" tight...

Not at all out of line for the modern workplace. Go downtown and observe the morning commuters sometime.

Wilbon and Tony are both terrible, and bitter.

They should then televise it. Hannah Storm would kick the crap out of Kornheiser.

PTI will be fine. LeBetard always gets Wilbon angry and it's hilarious. They're at their best after they're well rested anyways.

Really?

Modern workplace is down with this?

I mean, don't get me wrong. I actually think workforces need to loosen up a bit. Suits and ties aren't my style, but you don't see the men on Sportscenter dressing down compared to the ladies. They aren't rocking a simple pair of khakis and a nice sweater or something.

levious said:
yes, what is it you take exception with? the lace hose/stockings? Not uncommon.

Huh. That oufit would have gotten you fired at my last "modern workplace." Whatever works then.

Dan Le Batard is the best fill in when either of them is gone. I also like Adande and both of them are better than that old cockhead Bob Ryan.

Im' guessing ESPN is more sensitive to this kind of stuff after that baseball guy and the assistant got fired a few months ago. They are worried about image.

the only possible thing wrong in my mind is if the particular workplace has a rule about how high the skirt can be above the knee.

Yeah. I mean, when you sit down, it's going to raise up a bit. Considering how my old office was situated, I would end up staring at panties whether I wanted to or not. :lol

I can't believe they have someone named Sage Steele working there. That couldnt possibly sound any more fake... it may not be, but it definitely sounds like it.
