I dunno...those F-18s just look so...well, wimpish compared to the first movies F-14s.

Shame the USN never went with the proposed F-14 Super Tomcat when deciding between it and the F-18s. It would have been so much cooler to see the evolved Tomcat in this movie.

What is the plot? Looks like they go up against some AAA and maybe a next gen fighter/drone? Hopefully it's not all "Maverick you are a relic of the past, a person out of time..." yada yada yada and instead do some fighting.

I'm with you on the plane shots, but they're asking us to sift through 100 minutes of cow dung to watch 9 minutes of fighter jet stuff we can all see on YouTube now or after release.

I'm sure you are correct but that seems like a detail that Cruise and the costuming folks would have fully addressed, not just cut out one patch and hope no one notices. I'm sure on the press junket it will come up again.

Quite frankly I'm not sure I care much that a fictional characters dad's patch was replaced by an equally fictitious patch.
