If I remember right Origin actually takes the least, until you pass a certain sales threshold.

Xanadu Next, Dinosaur Resurrection, Lord Monarch for Windows, Sorcerian Forever/Original, Vantage Master v2, and maybe Brandish 4 were likely built with some of these tools, given their proximity to FC's PC release. How likely are the chances that Sara will run into similar issues with old tools/libraries should XSEED deign to publish these titles? At least one of the games (Xanadu) already has a fan translation patch, so most of the work would exist on the programming end.
I wonder if I should wait for all improvements to be released.
Wow, now I'm not sure if I want to play the PC version until at least the first patch. The HD interface sounds nice too.
I kind of feel this is an overreaction considering only minor cosmetic improvements are in the pipeline (besides the bestiary which is an extra feature as it is). The game wouldn't be coming out now if it was going to be changed significantly later.

Why is it an overreaction? I already played the PSP version. I'm buying the Steam and GOG versions to support the release of more games in the series on PC, I have no reason to play it again immediately after it's released.
are we talking % cut? its 30% on everything, including DLC or sub fees
its why you dont see new mmos on steam, they dont want to give Valve a cut of the subs... until they are doing shit 6 months later and they need that sweet Steam exposure (Final Fantasy 14, Elder Srolls Online, im sure Wildstar will come out on steam before the end of the year)

Was hesitant to reply to this just in case, but now Hatsuu's mentioned it on twitter...Are some of the text changes Kloe's techniques?
Single quotes. Double quotes are... not technically feasible, shall we say, thanks to decisions made during the game's original development cycle. This will be true for FC and SC.

Actually that raises a question that I nearly forgot: are proper quotation marks in for PC, or is it still brackets? I recall that brackets had to be used on PSP due to Falcom's coding, but that was just handing the script to them to implement, no diving in and seriously reworking the game. Of course I can see that being too deep an issue to fix, and a relatively minor one at that.

(Also special characters getting added eventually means someone's going to have to go back and change every instance of Loewe in SC to Löwe, aren't they. ._. )
Can double quotes be implemented with two single quotes?
It is simply some sort of weird encoding issue? Seems straight bizarre and I'm interested as I played the PSP version and can't wait for the PC port.

So it's like reading Lord of the Rings again. Works well enough for me![] = ' ' now. Double quotes aren't really an option for now, but maybe somewhere down the line we can change all of those ' to | in the script and then make | LOOK like " in the game instead, but for now, the single quotes are in place.

Thanks to being a technical third-party to this and being under an NDA, I really can't say more than that (and I'm always worried I've said too much already). Suffice to say that the " symbol isn't usable in the game text.![]()
Wasn't the name "Radiant Plash" voice-acted? How was that handled? Was hesitant to reply to this just in case, but now Hatsuu's mentioned it on twitter...
Yeah. They're back to Kaempfer/Sturm/Lichtkreis like they were in the Japanese version instead of Impose/Encroach/Radiant Plash. The first one'll be Kämpfer eventually, but special characters are super low priority, so yeah.

Alright does the game end in cliffhanger? I'd rather buy the game later when the second chapter hits if it is.
Sounds like they are expecting it to take about six months, give or take.By all accounts it does. But Trails in the Sky SC shouldn't be too far away.
Cool. Was hesitant to reply to this just in case, but now Hatsuu's mentioned it on twitter...

Ah, okay. Thanks for the response!Description of the S-Craft reads: "A Radiant Plash. Revives K.O.ed and heals 1500HP."
It's just throwing in the old title into the description, since that is basically what it means anyway. I thought that was the best way to go about it since many hardcore fans of Kiseki wanted the German to come back but we still had the English name within the game no matter what.
Maybe I'm missing something (probably I'm missing something, it's always silly to speculate without seeing codeThanks to being a technical third-party to this and being under an NDA, I really can't say more than that (and I'm always worried I've said too much already). Not sure how to direct link these files, so I just link to the whole page. Just press on the play button next to the word:Kaempfer/Sturm/Lichtkreis
Err.... so what's the correct pronunciation for those? I like that Kloe's spells were reverted back to German, though. It just sounds more cool that way.
Maybe I'm missing something (probably I'm missing something, it's always silly to speculate without seeing code), but couldn't you just map another unused symbol (e.g. §) to " when displaying the text? I mean, in the end what a symbol is is nothing more than a pair of coordinates in a bitmap font texture.
Does anyone know if game keys can be redeemed on both platforms, like the Witcher series for example.

It's possible they aren't allowed to do that. Official localizations have that constraint.

They are allowed to make huge changes to the game and the game's code, but wouldn't be allowed to replace a symbol? I kinda doubt that. However, I also doubt that the problem is as simple.
The code sounds like it's the Jenga tower from hell, so yeah it's probably a pain in the ass and at risk of breaking something. I do think apostrophes are a good compromise though, as those have been used in literature for quotation marks while brackets have not. They are allowed to make huge changes to the game and the game's code, but wouldn't be allowed to replace a symbol?
