Trails in the Sky: FC on Steam/GOG July 29th

What's the biggest difference between Steam and GOG? I'm not PC-savvy, so I just use Steam, but I'd like to know why people are excited it's coming to GOG as well.

A lot sooner than I thought! Can't wait.
Its already on Steam.

It's so beautiful.
Isn't that the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?

Support this game gaf.

Well, the steam version has trading cards and those are worth money.

A Sale on the Vita-compatible PSP version to celebrate the PC release would also be much appreciated! ;-)

Good to see this finally getting out, even if the infinite amount of Vita compatible PSP RPGs kept me from jumping on this game previously. Might have a few people around me interested in a PC version...

I'm in on Day 1. Never played anything in this series before, but the Ys games have turned me into a Falcom fan.

TITS! If you like TITS, you need to play this game!

It's probably the least fan service-y JRPG out there.

I love Estelle and Tits... ugh I meant Tita, typo.

I've heard of trading cards before, is there a place that explains what they are and how do I get them?

Basically, being able to play without an internet connection?

While Steam has offline mode, some games are still tied to the client. But yeah, no client needed to run it, so you can boot it up without running anything else.

Too late... Or too soon, I bought the PSP version when it went on sale last week or so and might only buy it on Steam to replay it.

...who am I kidding, I'm going to buy this anyway.

Oh, get it now. In your opinion, which one is better for someone who doesn't play PC games very often?

The game will drop cards that you can sell in the steam market place or collect to make a badge.
Steam has an offline mode btw.

Can't wait, been looking forward to it a long time. Hopefully I can persuade a few people I know to support Falcom/XSEED too.

I most likely won't be getting this day one due to time constraints, but I will buy for sure. The pc needs more games like this.

Depending on how often you change/build new computers or whatever, Steam might be better. Since as long as you have your login info, you can get those games on whatever machine you open the client on. Though if you keep your GOG info, you just have to log into the site and download it from there. So......hm. Depends on what you find more convenient!

In my opinion, I would go with GOG. Buy the game, download the installer, install the game, and be able to play the game without needing to login to an account.

Surprised it's also coming to GOG, very nice. I don't really feel like replaying it though, knowing me it would take another 50+ hours because I can't leave a single fresh NPC line unearthed.

Is it weird that I'm excited to see the better fonts in this version?
Eh. You can see screenshots on the Steam page linked in the OP. The font is thin as hell, looks kinda weird. And stuff like "attack" not being centered in the battle screenshot is also weird.

Finding the time for such a gigantic game isn't easy, but I hope everyone who can afford to buy it now will do it to show support.

That (although Steam has a generally-well-behaved Offline Mode) and there's no need to run a client to play the game. But that being said, a game supporting Steam features doesn't necessarily mean it'll contain "Steam DRM" (CEG, which is what tethers a game to the client) so the game could very well be DRM-free on Steam, too -- this is something that won't be ascertained until after release, though, unless Xseed comments. GOG's slightly more convenient in cases where you need to reinstall a game, though, as you can just back up the installer itself whereas with Steam, while the game itself may be DRM-free, there's no getting around the fact that Steam is required to download/install the data.

Sweet I have been waiting for this game since they first announced the PC version was getting an English release. Will be my first time playing a game in this series as well. Today is a good day.

despite having this game on PSP in all of its shrink wrapped glory, I'm just going to buy it on steam and hopefully finally get around to playing it...

It's happening... I'm so, so, so, so, so, so, so, SOOOOOO glad.

Trails in the Sky has always been a game I wanted to play. But I never owned a PSP, plus I heard the story was never completed as Second Chapter was never released.

So what happened?

We got a PC version of the game. AND WE GOT THE SECOND ONE COMING.

I'm just so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, SOOOOOOO glad.

Thanks <3

Alright! Tom, do you know whether the Steam release will be DRM-free?
