Maybe that's the problem. He has only looked like a wet fart through both episodes so far, so it felt like nothing's out of the ordinary.
It seems neither of you know what cliche actually means.Don't know about shows, but it was a tired cliche even in American Beauty.
Having said that, cliches can be starting points for interesting characters. I just don't know if Pizza can pull it off. Sometimes I feel like his approach to character conflict is a little...undercooked? I don't know what it is.
Right? I often forget what's going on with his character, because his segments are forgettable. "Realizing all the money's gone" scenes can be fucking amaaaaazing, too.

One thing...
McAdams drove up to the precinct, it rack focused from the emblem on the building to the car they were in...they talked briefly, and then he got out and walked to his front door. I was like...what the fuck, when did they drive to his house???
I caught that too, so he does live next to the police station?
Huh. That would be....huh. I could see it.I dunno if someone else already suggested this but my theory:
Taylor Kitsch is the killer. Split personality or something. Too coincidental to randomly have a psych out moment ("stop it") and then stumble across Caspere's body.
Also nearly every time we see him he's packing his bag (full of bird masks?) and heading somewhere.
As someone else pointed out, he's probably gay. He's former military spec ops and with his gnarled shoulder has probably been tortured--and tortured others. The whole sexual violence angle for this series continues.
Alsofor those who played Heavy Rain, doesn't this feel like it? Four main characters involved in a murder mystery, one of whom is the killer?
Just a guess anyway. Feel free to poke holes in the theory.

I mean isn't it like a town of 75 people. That Ferrell has even jokingly said "if you even want to call it(Vinci) that." So it kinda makes sense.
Cliche is used when something is overused, and this plot point is the complete opposite of it. I can only recall 1 or 2 times ever seeing this on TV in the last decade or so. Tropes as a term has completely lost meaning nowadays as it's pretty much used for anything, including rare repetitive story elements or plot points with you being a good example of it.

Isn't that sort of what his character is "about" though? He's a self made man who has gone through ups and downs, had his life in crime, and now had a big shot at going "legit" but it's just another step in the game plan for him. He doesn't want to appear desperate because it would make him seem vulnerable and not in control. I don't think he has reached a "oh fuck everything is totally scewed the money is really ALL gone now!" moment yet. He still believes he can fix it.
When he tells his subordinate in episode one not to look hungry and to never do anything out of hunger, not even eating, I assumed that was exactly what he was talking about. Having said that, I don't think Vaughn is really pulling his weight among the cast, but he's not being out of character or anything.
So Mc Adams's character probably felt like she was in heaven in Casper's house with all those....... toys.

The fuck?
Anyway, I can't believe people think Ray could still be alive after that point-blank second shot-gun to the torso.
Yeah, it's not a cliche- it's something you see all the time in real life. How many shows actually have this plotline, maybe 1 or 2? How is that cliche?
The fuck?

you're assuming those were live rounds in there and not something elseThe fuck?

My imagination must have been pulling the weight, I thought you could see his innards.
Fuck man, Taylor Kitsch can really act. Why the fuck has he been in dumb shit until now?
I really despise Ray Velcoro.
Ani was watching her sister get banged on webcam or some random girl? The exploration of her sexuality is one of the most interesting aspects of the show and looking forward to it.
Nice Cumberbach cameo tho.
I didn't catch that her sister was in the site, but it's possible, given episode 1.
I'm curious about her sexuality (or whatever that character point is) but also really terrified. This is the "wait until Kojima explains Quiet!" of True Detective S2 for me.
lol
Not sure how I feel after watching ep 2. I'll still finish out the season.
And yeah, that wasn't really Cumberbatch as the Doc was it? I joked with a friend that that was him as soon as I saw the guy.
Good job, B33. You removed a pic, but responded with something that spoils regardless of your tags. That's some Daniel Plainview spoiling method right there.
