Trump campaign has just $1.3M cash on hand

Conservative politics is a goddamned gold mine for scam artists. I'd legit consider doing something like that myself. Not running for office as a Republican or start a radio show, but maybe have a website that sells shitty right-wing paraphernalia like t-shirts that say "Hillary 4 prison 2016" or whatever.

Hell, anyone wanna team up for such a thing? We'd be rich. Rich as nazis!

I'm down! I'll bring all the blackjacks and hookers in the world.

The real irony here is that Trump is doing exactly what he originally did: Build an empire of facade on tax-free loans. I'm sure with inflation, this is roughly around what he inherited.

No. He's allowed to just eat the loss personally and/or pay his campaign out of his own pockets. But he's also allowed to keep this campaign open for a very long time so that he can take donations so that he can minimize his own personal loss.

A running bit on The Bugle was how long Rudy Giuliani's 2008 Republican primary campaign continued to accept donations. I want to say the fundraising page might have finally been taken down in 2011 or 2012?

Incorrect.

The Trump campaign raised less money in May than Veronica Mars movie Kickstarter: http://slate.me/28Or5BA

Rick Wilson's Twitter is gold.

1/ Let's say tomorrow Trump wanted to go on the air in swing states to rival HRC's buys. He's gets an ad made.

2/ His media buyers have to pay a premium (b/c HRC started reserving time ages ago), but he wants to compete. Call it 7 states, $25 million.

3/ Stations: "OK, wire us the money."
Trump camp: "But he's very rich."
Stations: "Wire. Us. The. Money."
Trump camp: "He's good for it."

4/ TV is a cash business. Trump has none. If you think TV doesn't work, reflect on your purchasing decisions.

Deep dive summary of the Donald Trump for President Campaign filing numbers:

$1,289,507.76 cash on hand
$45,703,185.39 IN DEBT

Breathtaking. He is a financial disaster living on credit.

How the hell did he get $46m in debt? He has almost no staff and he doesn't run ads, is this just how much it costs to charter a plane for a year? I mean, his superpower is acquiring debt while seeming successful, but goddamn.

It's so weird, I don't know anyone that supports Hillary, and I've only seen 1 or 2 Hillary bumper stickers around in all the traveling I do.

Meanwhile Trump is everywhere! Bumper stickers, signs, on storefront signs, even saw a few flags!

please don't dump this guy
please don't dump this guy

It is literally too late to do anything about it. Their best course of action is to let things run their course and then try again in four years. Doing anything now WILL irrevocably fracture the party.

For comparison here's their ad spending

Considering how much I heard about and know about Trump than Clinton during that time period Trump outplayed her and everyone else in marketing themselves.

This is partly why Trump is so low on reserves. He's been able to milk free advertising like noone else could and he assumes too much that free press will still be there and what exists will be beneficial towards him after the primary season.

It's understandable why he could miscalculate on this.

The debt is money Trump lent to his own campaign.

The Debt part was entirely loaned by Trump though

19. Loans Received:
(a) Loans Received From or Guaranteed By Candidate 45703185.39

If I don't read it wrong, either the GOP or the Tax Payer has to pay him back right?

He can pay himself back once money starts rolling in from donations.

He loaned his own campaign money.

#TrumpSoPoor trending

#TrumpSoPoor he's going to start taking classes at Trump University.

#TrumpSoPoor he's asking that New York rat for a slice of pizza.

#TrumpSoPoor he's not paying Chris Christie back for that McDouble

#TrumpSoPoor his next wife will ask for a pre nup

Where are his billions of dollars? I have to assume that all his money is either tied up in non-liquid assets, or that he simply doesn't want to spend it.

There was an article last week about him visiting the Koch Brothers. I can't imagine what it's like to be a billionaire, and have some other billionaire come begging for a handout. "I really don't want to spend my own money on this campaign, but you should totally give me some of your money!"

Actually, that chart is showing ad time reserved for between now and the election, not past spending.

He might not have billions. There's a quote from him basically saying once that his self-worth estimate includes the value of his name, which he values at different prices from time to time.

Where do you live? I'm in Arizona and the only car I've seen with a Trump bumpersticker got egged a few weeks ago.

Hillary Clinton had 3 fundraisers today in New York. About 135 people each gave $33.4k+. So, at least $4.5 million raised today. More than Trump in the entire month of May.

Both candidates are off the pace of last election's candidates. In May of 2012, Republican candidate Mitt Romney's campaign raised $76.8 million, while Barack Obama's campaign raised $60 million in the president's reelection effort. Both sides had more than $100 million on hand at the end of the month.

So there's actually a lot less money in this election, mostly because of Trump's lack of finances. Feels appropriately ironic.

This week Trump is spending time in the crucial battleground state of Scotland to open a new golf course.

He's totally serious about winning the Presidency.

I suppose this is what happens when the Republican establishment and most of the major conservative religious groups hate you. You're left with what very little the impoverished base of hard-right racists can provide.

Also, just to make sure people who maybe don't follow this will be aware...

This isn't just ad money. This is everything money. This is airplane money. Renting venues money. Permits. Legal fees. Data operations (of which the GOP has been shit at for years, and basically has nothing to give to Trump to help him out). This is your GOTV. Your ground game.

He can get all the free time on TV he wants, but the lack of funds is toxic. Not that I'm sad about. Just putting that out there.

The campaign is great, just great. Trump has the best people, the best. The whole process is rigged and cheating Hiliary thinks it's great to be standing on a pile of Wall St. backed cash.

Trump is funding his own campaign (the best campaign) without the need for outside influence. The money is coming and it will be the best money. You haven't seen bills this crisp, the best.
