Running through the ol' checklist:

Obamas = Africans ✓
Barack = hope he dies lol ✓
Michelle = she's a man lol ✓
"I was just kidding." ✓
"Can't take a joke?" ✓
"Just telling it like it is/Tough luck" ✓

I...I just don't know what to say. It blows my mind that millions upon millions of Americans support the GOP when many of their elected officials think like this, only Emperor Palpatine over here had the balls to say it out loud. I thought we had progressed past the 1960s but large swaths of the country are still stuck in the past. It genuinely makes me sad.

His kind will hopefully die off sooner than they can reproduce & condition their offspring into the same cycle of fear & hate. If not, we'll be there every step of the way to educate and bring them back to the land of the living. That's a promise.

Obamas realection showed me that those vile racist feelings are alive and well in younger people to an absolutely shocking degree.

Consider the possibility that millions of Americans that support the GOP are pieces of shit just like this guy.

These people make it really hard not to wish violence upon them. I mean, damn.

Dude should be taken to task for this shit.

It's okay to tune out sometimes. You have to to get any peace of mind sometimes. But I feel like too many people tune out and never tune back in. Please don't bury you head in the sand because it helps no one. It's the same as turning the other cheek as far as I'm concerned.

I understand where you're coming from.

My problem is, and I'm ashamed to say, that what was once resentment towards Trump supporters, is now turning into hatred. Honestly not sure what to do about it, but I know I don't like it. For my own sake, I have to tune out for a bit, or I'm going to lose myself.

What a fucking piece of shit.

"Humour that America has lost" obviously translates to ability to be openly racist without reproach.

That kind of thinking tends to get passed down from generation to generation.

I dunno, some of the young generation seem to be right hateful bastards now and very conservative. It's like a need to be part of something and labelledwith the internet echo chamber. I wouldn't bet on old bastards dying off meaning the end of it, perhaps enough to lean back the other way though.

I grew up around diversity and live in a large American Midwest city that voted overwhelmingly for Clinton (although the state went to Trump). It's just hard for me to wrap my mind around this stuff; probably because I live in a liberal bubble.

I feel that racism has been around as long as mankind. As long as there are people that look different from each other, there will be racism. As long as humans walk this earth, so will racism. It's an unfortunate part of life.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
Here in my country (Brazil), it is actually ilegal to say shit like this.

If they lived here, Michelle could sue declaring defamation of character, and damages to the "honor" through racism. And she would totally win.

Why can't we let this guy loose in Zimbabwe? With all those lions and shit? Maybe a rhino could spear his ass with its horn.

The majority of white millennials voted for Trump. Just waiting for racism to die off is not a valid strategy.

Yeah, but a portion of them would've voted for Bernie instead. So in my own white millennial social circles, you better believe I'm not letting misogyny slide anymore.

Fuck it, because many of them feel the same.

This man is more than just a racist, he is a monster. Despicable. A complete and total waste. Calling him filth would be too kind.

And Republicans? You wear him. All of you. Every single one of you.

I may not agree with her politics as of late, but that a woman as intelligent, beautiful, and graceful who has only wanted to see the best of this country could be treated this way on the national stage. Unforgivable.

Republicans, you own this man.

Oh believe me. You shouldn't feel ashamed. Just do your best at having that hatred directed at the right people but sometimes hatred get the best of us when we're put in bad positions. I understand, which is why I mentioned the part about getting peace of mind and tuning back in. I've had the same feelings of hatred and they still flare up. I don't think anyone can blame us. But I've done my best to work on it. Rather than trying to get rid of the hateful energy, which doesn't work, I've tried, I've found ways to turn it into a more active energy that can make a difference. Help others understand who these people are and why they are bad if you ever have the time or patience. Always vote with your dollar. Be vocal when you can. Get involved with some local activism when you have time. Just getting involved with a single social project is a good way to turn that hateful energy into something good and you can still be "spiteful" to people like this, but in a way that does nothing but help.

At the end of the day, I still take a break, take a step back, and bury my head for a couple of months though because I agree that stuff like this absolutely sends me spiraling. Some mental health issues don't help.

You should tune it out if you need to. Take time for yourself. I just ask that you don't leave us for good. We all in this together and we need your eyes open when you can. PM me if you ever want to. :)

Blows my mind that anyone could keep their job after a statement like that, let alone someone on the goddamn school board. This world isn't right.

edit: he was asked to resign? Maybe there is hope yet.

I can certainly understand an absolute and unshakable respect for human life.

Personally, though, I've given up on aestheticism. I'm more than happy to see a fucker like this end up in the ground. I hope the internet hate machine comes down on him like a deluge of hammers and the people of Buffalo turn on him like starving wolves. I hope he's forced out of his job, his home is lost, and that he dies unloved and alone in a filthy ditch being spat on even by the dregs of society.

And I hope every day up until the very end he curses the liberal justice lynch mob and PC culture for making poor little old him their victim, and ends with his soul still stained from lacking even the barest semblance of penitence.

Genuinely teared up reading this. Thanks man, I will be PMing you from time to time for sure.

It's strange that you never see any of our resident Trump supporters venture into these topics. Yes, very strange.
Well, I believe a number of them are banned right now after a certain thread on Gaming Side... really went south. But nonetheless, while I agree with the general sentiment, calling people out like this never leads to anything productive because it starts things off on a hostile tone, so of course they'll either be defensive or just not respond at all to avoid saying something they might be regret.

Of course, stuff like this shouldn't even be a discussion to begin with, that's true. But most of them will probably agree with that and try to explain that they voted for Trump for completely different reasons and this has nothing to do with why they voted the way they did. So starting off the discussion implying that's the reason they voted for him at all is definitely starting things off on the wrong foot. Of course, to be clear, when you vote for someone, you definitely have to own the whole package, both the good and the bad. But nonetheless implying at all that this type of thing has anything to do with the reasons why they voted the way they did leads to nothing good.

Of course I know the intention isn't necessarily to be productive at all but to vent frustrations, which is perfectly understandable. But if we do want to get stuff done, stuff like this doesn't help and just leads to people yelling at each other and remaining angry at each other, for some very understandable reasons, but still. The point is it doesn't actually make anyone happy or change anything at all, so either way I don't get the point in calling people out like this. Either let them speak for themselves, or let their silence on such matters speak for itself if you will, but don't do stuff like this. Of course, there's the shame approach, but when you call people out any shame or regret they might feel turns into anger instead, so that kinda defeats the point, so it just doesn't seem to be good in any way.

Like had been brought up in this thread, it's totally understandable to hate Trump and everything he stands for which as someone who's bisexual is a feeling I know only too well. But no matter how justified those feelings may be, we can't let them consume us and make us lash out in ways that don't even benefit ourselves or make us feel better in any way. I don't know, I'm really bad at this if you couldn't tell. xD But nonetheless, I don't like seeing stuff like this regardless of who does it.

I read your whole post. I'm saying that just waiting doesn't work so it's better to fight sooner rather than later.
I feel you, just waiting has never worked. I don't think we'll ever truly get rid of racism because it is an individual journey one must go through one's life to come to a better understanding about one self. To actually realize what we are instead of focusing on the who first and foremost. In that sense, we're always learning/teaching and hopefully elevating our state of beings. And we'll never stop "fighting" though I prefer the word educating cause I still have hope that we might get through by our actions alone. I'd rather educate and bring forth understanding and light than fight against my own kind(sadly). As fucked up as it is, I still must recognize that these racist mofos are still my own kind, still human, still life forms. It is a tough balancing act and all I can do is try to live through my actions alone cause talk is cheap.
This stuff pains me on a day to day basis when coming to terms with the sheer amount of it present in today's society. There are moments/days that it feels absolutely crushing but there is still great beauty in life as well. Live beautifully through your actions, is what I keep reminding myself.

Lock him up. Such a person should be immediately removed from any public official position after those kind of comments.

Sadly that doesn't happen, some official in I think it was West Virginia said Ms. Obama was an ape in heels. She then resigned, but now she is going back to work.

Its really gross these people see no consequences for obviously racists statements.

I really just can't wrap my head around where this kind of petty meanness gestates from in a person. I can't imagine this man's life is somehow so terrible that he might even just mistakenly out of sheer misery think it's the Obamas' fault. I mean, he's "joking" after all, while getting interviewed for a newspaper, so it can't be all that bad. And yet, of all the things he can think to want to happen in 2017, this is what his mind goes to first.

Trump won, Republicans have majorities in just about every branch of federal and state governments and still people like him aren't content with what they've gained - they want to watch people suffer on top of that. Eye-opening, to say the least.

Of course it's Carl Paladino, he's basically been Buffalo's resident tea party asshole since losing his governor race. It's a disgrace that he's still holding elected office, especially the Buffalo School System is in desperate need of change, but having this racist isn't going to help the inequality in education (especially since his only solution is charter schools).
