Trying to rationalize getting a Pro, which PS5 games annoy you with poor IQ

Every Ps5 game EVER looks absolute fucking TRASH!!!
Upgrading to Pro is the ONLY rational recourse in a generation of visuals that are akin to chilli's in the retinas after scrubbing them with wire wool and paint thinner.

I'm not graphic whore enough that I'm willing spend close to $1000 to get a pro especially the fact once PS6 comes out it just becomes useless.

The reason I'm willing spend my money on Nintendo's next system because its brand new system with new games like from Monolith Soft which I can't effort to miss out.

Hey but if you have enough money to burn then go for it.

So you think that in 4 years they will produce a hardware thats is considerably better than the ps5 pro and sell it for 500 ? 600? ... even if this gen in 4 years this was not possible and thats why the pro costs this much, the base ps5 almost saw no discounts until now and even price incrises in europe and japan ? ...

The only possibility now of having 500 consoles is if the ps6 comes with 2 skus... one ps6 bearly better than the pro and one ps6 pro at higher cost.

but keep dreaming i guess..
I didn’t say it would be $500. Where did I say that?

The great thing about all of this is people can just wait. There seem to be plenty of pros avaliable for people if they change their mind.
Exactly. For now only FFVII:Rebirth annoyed me. Except that everything is great for me. 1 game isn't enough for me to justify paying a 799€ console.

I very rarely tend to purchase games with poor IQ in Performance Mode, so couldn't really say any PS5 game IQ "annoys me". But out of those I own I would love RoboCop: Rogue City to take advantage of new hardware and PSSR.

And, while I don't really have any real complaint about its current presentation, would like Dead Space to receive Pro support as well given it's one of my favorites on the platform.

Can't wait to restart Rise of the Ronin and finally beat it. That game would be a nice showpiece if Team Ninja/Japan Studio can shine it up.

FF16 - Base 60 fps Quality mode and some extra effects is what I'm hoping for.

R-Type Final 3 Evolved - Some hitches here and there could be ironed out.

Turn it all up to 11:
Helldivers 2
Returnal
Robocop
Stellar Blade
Trepang 2

There was a rumor recently that Warhammer 40k Darktide is coming to PS5. If so, that game’s way up there for needing help. The performance mode on Series X looks worse than most 360 games. It’s absolutely atrocious. Biggest gulf I’ve seen between the PC and console versions so far.

In the same boat with this decision. I've have had my ps5 since launch day and it's still working but there's nothing like that new console smell. Need to offload this ps5 on Craigslist first before i put in a pre-order.

If you are looking for a reason to buy one, you don't need it. PS5 games still look fine and while playing you don't have zoomed in screenshots to compare anything. FPS is another story.

My current lidt is rise of ronin(confirmed patch), Pacific Drive(unlocked fps on native 4k mode atm), FFXVI(this should be no brainer),Remnant 2(uses poor fsr and still dips). Thats just quick from top of my head

I can easily rationalise the PS5 Pro, I just don't have the money at the moment. Hopefully by this time next year they might bundle in the disc drive and a game by then.

I'd love to see what a PSSR patch could do for Robocop Rogue City. I think it's safe to say that for those with large televisions, most games visually aren't great in performance mode.

Any game that has had a 60fps mode is justification enough for me. I have never been able to enjoy it because the image quality is shit.

I’d also be really curious to see how COD/Warzone is handled. Would love to see the 120hz mode have a little better resolution.

I think it's an easy decision and if you
- mainly or only in the PS5 ecosystem plus VR2
- use your console enough that the launch model has some miles on it and if it dies within the next 4 years it would cost the same to replace with a standard model as it will to just trade or sell and upgrade
- you just want the best experience no matter the cost wherever you game.

I also think it sucks for people who just bought a PS5 like the Slim when it launched. If you've had your PS5 since launch it's a no brainer to me.

But any day now, a game announcement or compatibility could tip the scales for a huge percentage of gamers....

That’s the thing I have both Switch and PS5 and I need both, PS5 get 3rd party games I like that never come out on Switch and Switch gets exclusives that I can’t effort to miss out.

If I have to choose between getting next Nintendo system or PS5 Pro then I go with Nintendo because it gonna brand new system while Pro is just upgrade version console I already own.

Even if I don’t get Pro I still can play all the games the comes on Pro on regular PS5, while next Nintendo system going to get Monolith Soft’s next project which I have no attention missing out, for me its easy choice.

For me it's easy to justify: I can afford it and I think that time is our most important resource, that we don't want to waste, it's way more important than money. So, I'd rather enjoy life as much as possible right now, the upgrade is going to make the experience more enjoyable overall so that's it.

We have been gaming for 40 years now with this shit image quality you speak of and have been having plenty of fun.

Image quality swings in console games are more apparent now than ever before in my entire life of gaming.

The difference between performance or quality modes is insanely jarring.

For me it's an easy choice.

Playstation is my only platform
I own 300+ games across PS4 and PS5
I want to play my existing library and all future releases with better performance, graphics and Image quality.

In PC terms:

The PS5 Pro will be my GPU upgrade and the PS6 my next new build.
