So was "The cow jumped over the moon" from last episode a trigger to say that one lady and her assassins failed to kill Real Cooper, so that another assassin could be hired?
No, I don't think we've seen the payoff to that yet. Lorraine reported her failure to the Argentina box herself earlier in that episode.

Lynch is still pissed at Michael J. Anderson, apparently.

I like how you add in apparently. As if Anderson becoming a rabid racist white supremacist neo-nazi who claims Lynch raped his own daughter is something Lynch may get over at some point as if was a small tiff lol.

Anderson is lucky Lynch didn't attempt to stab him with an ice pick after Anderson went after Lynch's family

That "apparently" was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. :p

A bit of a miss for me with Tarifa this week - I think I'm getting an overdose of dreamy songs. Need to change it up!

Has me thinking about how weird it's gonna be to see Pearl Jam or Nine Inch Nails tucked into the end of an episode.

They released the eddie vedder song that they said would be in the show a while ago (prior to the premiere) and its fit for a club appearance tbh. its acoustic.

and also Reznor's wife is in the cast list, their music together is pretty much suited for this lounge vibe they got going on. Its not gonna be industrial I think haha.

Where did you read that?

Nah I'm just joking. Someone mentioned NIN being in the show. Lynch directed for them and also wanted to direct a Kanye west video at some point, that's the connection I made.
But of course I wasn't being serious, it would be the most non Twin Peaks thing ever.

The biggest problem with this season IMO is the pacing/editing. Every episode (mostly 4-6) has been all over the place. Also the endings at the Roadhouse have got to go. This isn't The OC. Why waste so much potential? We could have an ending shot of something that lingers. That gives us goosebumps. Why couldn't the episode end revealing somehow that the assassin's second target is Dougie, to add some gravity to the situation?

Probably because of the 18 hour movie thing

Because this wasn't made as separate episodes, it was made as an 18 hour movie. They literally weren't thinking about where episode breaks would come when writing and shooting it. Not saying that's a good or bad thing, just that it's why the "episodes" (parts) end the way they do.

Kind of playing devil's advocate since I mostly agree with you, but presumably Lynch is making the Roadhouse endings a comfort zone for the viewer so that he can subvert or violate it later for dramatic effect. Granted, he already kind of did this with Richard Horne's introduction, but that was relatively small.

I know Lynch said this, but then imagine if it were actually a movie. A musical performance every 60 minutes would be just as jarring/senseless.

Also, like it or not, this IS a TV show (being released on a weekly basis no less). I think it's the job of a writer to modify his script based on the context (e.g. network meddling, time constraints, a set amount of episodes, etc.) Rewriting and reordering scenes is common practice in production.

Anyways don't mean to shit on the parade or anything, I'm only expressing my disappointment because of how much I love Lynch and especially FWWM.

How Two IndieWire Co-Founders Helped Save the Original ‘Twin Peaks’ — Exclusive Video

At around the same time, Hernandez said, Lynch/Frost “reached out and asked if we’d come out with a camera and record a video to create messages from the cast and creators that could be duplicated and sent to all the different chapters who were having their end-of-the-season viewing parties.” He visited the set with a camera and fellow COOP organizers Barner and Bruce Lidl. Said video — which features Lynch, Frank Silva and many others — makes its public debut below.
What a fantastic, adorable video. It's a shame they didn't make this public sooner, this deserves to be archived on the blu-ray set.
They shot this on the day the original series finale was filmed, Richard Beymer even shows up in it with the camera he used to capture those beautiful behind the scenes shots.

Just because it's a TV show doesn't mean that it has to modify itself to the confines of the usual TV show format. The only thing working against the new Twin Peaks format is the scheduling. It's hard for it to feel seamless when only one episode airs per week. I have to admit that despite how much I'm loving it, I start getting antsy about halfway through the episode because I know the end credits are approaching.

I can't wait until I'm able to have all of the pieces at once.

I often find myself checking the clock -- not because I'm bored, but because I'm worried that it'll end.

I would like to see Kayne brutally murdered by that little guy with the ice pick. That would be cool.

First of all it's Cain. Second of all he's Robocop 2 now and he's got a machine gun, armored plates, claws, laser, saws, etc. Maybe if the midget gets his hands on some Nuke.

It's not even bad in a fun and interesting way, it's just fucking boring. An hour of this show is excruciating to watch.

Of course you don't like it. OF COURSE haha. Sorry if that sounds insulting though or anything like that. Thats not intended.

Anyways I hope we see more of Bobby soon. I'm still on edge wondering if he's Seyfrieds dad. And also if that nut job kid is Audreys son

Did anyone else notice that when Naomi Watts bites the sandwhich the second time it hasn't been bitten yet?

Seems like an intentional continuity error. I checked and it isn't the second half the sandwhich the second time.

Just another one of those surreal touches.

You guysss, stop calling him a midget. D:

Murderous Little Person doesn't have the same ring to it.

But it is considered offensive to say midget these days.

I noticed the sandwich thing too. Reminded me of Pulp Fiction when Jules eats the burger.

I can't really fault anyone for disliking the show or being disappointed. Personally I'm really enjoying it and just like taking in all the strange happenings and atmosphere. It's something I look forward to. I rarely find my eyes wandering off screen to something else. It's strange and all the pieces aren't supposed to fit together neatly and coherently and I can roll with that. I recognize its looseness and slow pace isn't gonna be for everyone and I wouldn't blame poor taste for that.

Something like True Detective Season 2 is a bad show for me. That's a show where I often find myself being easily distracted and bored. And that's a show that blatantly wears its Lynch inspirations on its sleeve.

Yeah I can understand as well.

The super slow paced small town happenings were my absolute favorite and nostalgic moments of the original Twin Peaks.

But I'm loving this new season in its own little way.

Loving series thus far. Kyle's performance as Dougie is actually mesmerising for me.

Subtle, nuanced and actually behind the humour achingly poignant.

You can see Cooper slowly resurfacing, you see the little sparks of awareness around his recognition of coffee and case files and police badges.

It's actually a stunningly good performance and it's on top of his great work as Bad Coop and Coop in the Lodge early on.

If he delivers on full Dale Cooper later in the run I'll be viewing this as the performance of the year on TV.

Watts was terrific too and lovely to see Stanton. Man he actually looks terrific for his age and his moment at the scene of the hit and run was very touching.

It's great to see Watts is more then a cameo. I've been really surprised with the amount of screen time she gets and of course she knocks the scenes out of the park when she's on.

Something I was theorizing about. If Seyfried's character is Bobby's daughter then maybe her boyfriend is Mike's son, and his interview where he got shat on was actually with his dad. It would make sense how they got together if Bobby and Mike remained friends after all of these years.

This is of course before someone replies to me with the character's last names and prove me wrong.

Well, he is not really Dougie is he, as Dougie himself was send to the Lodge and died basically. Cooper is basically himself with a wiped mind it seems.

Yep, Dougie is, for all intents and purposes, dead.

Cooper is in his own body, the doppelganger/Bob are in the doppelganger's body.

Just wonder if we'll ever find out what's really going on with Coop. It's beyond being disoriented from 25 years in the Lodge. Something seriously fucked up happened to him that has obliterated all of his memories. That which remains is basically instinctive urges, like his love of coffee, or his appreciation for symbols of law enforcement. Things you might expect Coop to have liked when he was a child. Deep down things you can't destroy without killing him. But he might as well have never had coffee before.

Leading me to think we may never see Agent Cooper ever again. It'll just be Dougie, forever. You could stick him in the meeting room at Twin Peaks police HQ and he wouldn't know what the fuck to do unless the denizens of the Lodge were sending him magic signals.

I mean do we have any indication that he recognizes things from his prior life? Things that couldn't be handwaved by saying "this is just a matter of personal taste"?

There's no way Cooper doesn't come back, it's just a matter of how long it takes. Lynch is subverting expectations but there would be a massive fan backlash if the entire season goes by with no Coop.

Nah, Mike was telling him he needs to 'wake up' this episode. So, Cooper is still somewhere underneath, and phrasing it as 'wake up' implies that when he reappears it will be somewhat sudden, rather than a gradual piecing together. He has made essentially no progress since appearing in that house with Jade, he's only collected more phrases that people have said to him and apparently he remembers everything since then as normal (like how he was so happy to see a picture of Jade), but I don't think he's any closer to being Cooper than he was when he first appeared. So I think when that happens, it'll be something that sets it off.

Exactly, I think everything that's happening with his premonitions in the casino or with the papers is leading him to that moment. Maybe it's Mike or the black lodge sending him signals.

Maybe he hears the name Twin Peaks soon, and immediately begins heading there in his current state, for something to happen to him when he arrives. Actually that might be what happens.

of all the comedic moments in this season so far this might be the best. Wally Brando was pretty great too tho.

I didn't think it was comedic when watching the first time. I thought he put his hand before his face because he was sad/horrified. But looking at that gif it looks more like a face palm.
