What does the second Serra fight have to do with anything? I thought GSP became "boring" after the FIRST Serra fight. Fitch was after the second Serra fight. So was Penn II.

It was "forgettable" for reasons left unexplained by you. You called it "unsatisfying".. Why someone would call that fight "Unsatisfying" compared with the first fight is a mystery to me....oh wait....unless you're a Penn mark.
I always said GSP stopped being exciting after the second Serra fight. That was the last time he took it personally and wanted to destroy a guy. I'm hoping Kos can light that fire and instill some hatred so GSP tries to crush him. And for the record, yes I was a huge fan of BJ's until Greasegate.

Well, in that case, I give you points for consistency, but still detract for rationality.

We're going around in circles now, but the Fitch fight was damn exciting, and that was after Serra II.

The Penn II fight was damn exciting, and that was post-Serra II. (yes, you described your not-very-cogent complaints about that fight)

The Alves fight was fairly exciting, and that was post-Serra II. Would have been better had GSP not injured his groin, but...eh.

Again, I FULLY ACKNOWLEDGE my extreme GSP bias. I'm just wishing that those who are hating on GSP for being boring would be consistent or rational in their criticism. I'm not seeing that so far.

Again, I think Georges has had two "boring" fights in 17 UFC appearances. We can debate those until the cows come home. I think I'll win that debate, but that's just me.

Hell, when do you ever see an OP with such a consistent impassioned case for a fighter? I mean, a lot of these have been pretty lame in the past six months, imho....

The internet contrarians can shout at the walls, but this card will do 800k buys, every sports fan I know will be begging for a way to watch the event, and provided that I lose my voice on the 11th and GSP wins, the irrational haters can continue their shtick for as long as they like. ;) PRIDE NEVER DIE

And when GSP headlines an event in Toronto at the Skydome that sells out 65,000, I'll be front row for that too. And I'll wave for the camera. :D

Why greasegate? Penn wasn't exactly classy right up til that point or anything...

Yeah for all those people saying GSP was just LnPing his way to victory against Hardy; you are full of shit. GSP went for the finish on numerous occasions.

And for all you people thinking GSP is gonna walk through Kos, think again. This will be a very different fight. Kos is very familiar with GSP's takedowns and general gameplan now. He thought he didn't have to work on his wrestling anymore in the first fight and he could just focus on striking, didn't even worry about the takedown.

I think this will be a competitive fight and we will once again see GSP use his striking in an attempt to beat Kos after a few stuffed takedowns. Who knows what kind of craziness Kos will pull out. I think he might fake being hit in the groin or eye in an atempt to piss GSP off.

I think you are just buying into the hype. Kos hasn't looked to improved anything except his striking a smidge since their first fight and it still isn't up to par. It's the same thing every time GSP fights: Alves has his number and can keep the fight on the feet, Hardy can KO him with one punch etc... Kos will do worse this time than he did last time and everyone will feign surprise.

True, BJ has a history of making excuses. This one was what put it over the top for me. He couldn't just admit he lost.

It's just a parade of dizzy over-confidence.

You're talking about his opponents right?

FYI, Kos has been focusing mainly on his TDD because he wants to keep the fight standing. So much that it has been cutting into his time for striking training. SMH. Dude never learns.

Very much so :lol

Amazing to see. The humility topos, motherfuckers: use it.

AstroLad said:
A lot of it is just dudes hyping up a fight. Out of those guys only Koscheck is really a certified ass and arguably BJ depending on your perspective.

Yeah, I watch some fighting but not enough. I'm not equipped to get in the spirit of promotion and what have you, so I tend to just see jerks.

Yeah I am too tired if I had to ask that.

This is about Kos:
If you guys want to know who he is fooling around with from Fresno google: Summer Brielle Taylor NSFW!

Clearly you did not watch this season of TUF. Kos is the one who wants to motorboat GSP's ass, not I.....

and...will that be your opinion after UFC 124 grosses >800k PPV buys?

.... :D

i stopped watching TUF a couple of seasons ago, so i'm not familiar with what was said or done on the show, but i'm tired of the format and reality television in general. a huge pet peeve of mine is locking up the title and fights for months on end for no good reason. it's pretty ridiculous that the title was locked up for 9 months for a borderline title contender like koshcheck anyways. only reason he got a title shot was for his wwe heel tactics and drama aspect for selling tickets and hyping the event. champions should be defending that strap 3 times a year.

and what does ppv buys have to do with anything? i never disputed that gsp was a ppv draw for the company. the biggest draws the ufc has are brock, chuck, gsp, randy, and bj penn (who is a sneaky good draw) probably in that order. i guess tito used to be a draw but he hasnt won in like 4 or 5 years so he is no longer relevant. so i dont' know why my opinion is supposed to change after i see the ppv numbers.

i just said that this card isn't the best from top to bottom, which you said so yourself. i think everyone can agree that the infusion of wec talent into ufc cards is seriously needed at this point. the nye card would have been epic as fuck if aldo did not have to postpone his fight. either way i'm jazzed for that card. edgar vs pray maynard, gomi vs clay, nate diaz vs stun gun, vera vs thiago silva, and leben vs stann, looks like a fun main card.

is the tuf finale show today?

Knowledge is power, guard it well
Koscheck's attitude is bad for the sport. I just can not stand his existence.

I hope GSP makes tears that dickhead into pieces.

I wish Nam Phan trained under GSP. The dude would be in the finals today.
I felt the same way. Nam has the potential to be a great UFC fighter.

:lol don't worry I do too. I appreciate heels because that will usually give me that much more incentive to cheer during a fight as long as there appears to be at least some authenticity in the act.

Let's not fool ourselves here, not only Koscheck isn't better than GSP on any aspect of the game but he's well behind GSP when it comes to everything. Unless GSP chickens out and taps to light strikes again Koscheck isn't winning this fight.

Definitely. GSP is one of those freaks of nature. Every now and then in a sport, somebody comes along that just makes everybody else look like amateurs. Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant in basketball. Peyton Manning and Randy Moss in football. Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in soccer. Etc etc.

I really cant see anybody ever beating GSP in his weight class. Its gonna require some new freak of nature, but that only happens once in a good while. For GSP to be really challenged, I think he needs to move a weight class.

man, rumble, that's a name that takes me back

he got fat as fuck, not sure how he gets back down to fight at 170 ever again

AstroLad said:
yeah saw that pic. it's just weird he hasn't fought in over a year now
He was supposed to fight John Howard and got injured. But yeah Rumble got thrown off by Kos faking being eye poked, got pissed off and lost his fight as a result. Rumble never recovered from that loss. Now-former Octagon Girls, Logan and Natasha were fired for saying that from where they were sitting it was obvious that Kos wasn't poked in the eye and that he "was totally faking it". Kos pissed off Daley by saying shit about his mom while they were fighting which pissed Daley off enough to punch him after the fight.

I liked all those people and Kos fucked up their lives, so fuck Kos.

KICK HIS ASS GSP

rumor wand and chael coaching next season of tuf
Wand? Chael would destroy 2010 Wand, sorry to say. I do not want to see that fight. It's a stylistic mismatch. I'd much rather see Wand vs Leben.

I bet the next coaches will be announced tonight though, and I am 100% sure Chael will be one of them, the timing is perfect.

Oh and do you have a link for the wand vs Chael thing?

no i just seen it on a few different boards today, and like you said it seems like a given that chael will be 1 of the coaches, and i think sonnen and silva have been going at it via twitter in the past week

Was one or both of BJ's parents lawyers? I do remember hearing he grew up in a rich family.

his parents aren't lawyers but they are millionaires. they both own huge amounts of commercial/residential real estate in hawaii. they have finanically supported him throughout his whole life to pursue MMA, e.g. he has never had a 'job' in 31 years of living. i think gsp said before their first fight that he had to fight/earn everything he ever got whilst bj was handed everything he ever wanted in life.
