will gently cradle you as time slowly ticks away.
To clarify: I personally think Davis has enough room for improvement to be a contender. Whether he does or not, time will tell.
He ran a lot early in the fight. He actually hurt his striking as a result, because he didn't cut the ring down on Jones. He was clearly better in boxing, but everytime he ran away, he let Jones get the angle on him. When he stood and boxed, he used his angles well. I don't think the judges had it wrong. It's probably why the judges gave Jones the 1st round. PEACE.
nah after his "fight" with machida you could easily see that he doesn't go in with a fighter's mentality, he doesn't go in there to fight, he just goes in to "win".To clarify: I personally think Davis has enough room for improvement to be a contender. Whether he does or not, time will tell.
Such thinking has worked wonders for GSP, Condit, Machida, etc.
I thought the fight represents the best of UFC and the absolute worst of UFC, those 5 rounds and that judging basically sum up everything that UFC is and has become.
Kudos to the guys for really delivering a fantastic fight, everything else was utter shit. No wonder PPV numbers are done from years ago, people just get burned on these horrible judging calls. Well done to Jones and Gustafsson for a great fight, they did their part, shame everyone else failed at theirs.
Had Alex winning rounds 1,2,3. He got robbed.
Who here has had enough of Jones's cheap oblique kicks and sticking his open hand right in his opponent's face repeatedly while putting his fingers dangerously close to their eyes?
Ugh, people with their robbery crap. When a fight is insanely close, nobody gets robbed. There is very little disagreement out there that Gus won the first and Bones won the 4th and 5th. The 2nd and 3rd could very easily be called either way. Hell, Fightmetric scored both the 2nd and 3rd rounds 10-10.
vio-friend, did you know that gatorade didn't even give jbj any money for that? they just allowed him to wear the logo. it's like gatorade was feeding his ego, lolThe only reason jbj won was that Nike and Gatorade money. Young Gus whooped that ass. I'm waiting for his rocky 2 moment.
Jbj was prolly telling him post fight that they won't be no rematch. He wants to go back to fighting past their prime pugs.

gus did more damage. he won.
That's not how it works...
srsly. they need to go watch shogun/machida 1 or pacquiao/bradley to see a real robbery..
there is so much salt everywhere over gus losing
I can see why but still felt that the fight went to jones. People need to remember that jones remained the aggressor for the majority of the fight. Yeah he got caught, especially when he attempted to fleetingly use his reach advantage(which was nonexistent this fight but it was a force of habit). Jones just worked him harder overall despite being outboxed and outwrestled(early on). The game changer was def the leg kicks.
Me. I would gladly trade foot stomps and knee kicks for knees to the head of a downed opponent. Ref warned them both for fingers but seemed to be only calling out Jones towards the end. Pretty sure California bans those kicks. Seems to be a Winklejohn special, Machida and Anderson use it a fair bit too.Who here has had enough of Jones's cheap oblique kicks and sticking his open hand right in his opponent's face repeatedly while putting his fingers dangerously close to their eyes?
Kampmann/Sanchez.
That decision could literally only been worse if Sanchez took a $10 from Kampmann's wallet post-fight.
Sanchez/Gomi was terrible too
Hopefully this fight can settle the "Jones only destroys guys who are clearly smaller" debate.
>Bones looked really bad... would have given decision to Gustafsson... Nice fight, shame about judges.
This was the Rocky 1 fight. I wanna see the Rocky 2 fight now.
Bones doesn't want to be in the cage again against Gus, but I bet Gus will.

Is Jones really ducking a rematch?
Do you understand how UFC fights work? Jones doesn't get to decide who his opponent is. Joe Silva does.
People can still refuse fights. Jones refused the Sonnen fight at first which ended up getting an entire PPV cancelled.
That's cause that was a stupid ass fight to make!
Hear me out friend. Jones fights glower TeX next. After submitting glower, Jones flips of hack and chuck and disrespects the pit. Chuck comes put of retirement to defend his camps honor. Recycling storylines always works. Worked for Tito and KenBones Jones really does look like a different fighter when he's not carving up aging legends of the Ultimate. Maybe they can feed him Kevin Randleman or Mo Smith next to help rehab his image.
