UFC 165 |OT| ABBA a little faith in Gustafsson

People need to stop with the JDS/Cain would dominate Jones. Gus is much faster and quicker than both guys. JDS is a guy that sits down, looking for the KO and gets hit a lot. Cain brawls. Gus has quick hands and is all about landing a lot of punches.

@arielhelwani Team Jones just told me Jon injured his foot badly early on. Left foot. Same as injured toe.

Jones was limping, could the toe not be 100% healthy and part of the reason why he didn't keep pushing for the takedown? Maybe he hurt it when he kicked Gustafsson's face with his toe in the 1st.

Cain is just as fast as Gus, would clinch with Jones and not gas out in the 3rd round. So no

Lol Henderson

No shit?

But but but but there is no way he could still be feelin' that toe injury!

Jon Jones ain't up walkin' around like Gus probably because he can't. Jones should just take a while off to let that fully heal and then rematch.

No, he isn't. Cain boxing doesn't look all that fast against HW. Gus was tagging Jones in the pocket whenever Jones try to push forward with a clinch. Cain doesn't have the hand speed to do that.

Fedor looked fast againt HW's. then he fought Henderson and got beat to the punch by a guy whose big punch looks telegraphed against LHW and MW guys. Cain isn't faster than over the hill Fedor. No way is he as fast as Gus.

When did I say hand speed? I specially said clinch, Cain isn't going to box with Jones and let him use his range. He's going to use his speed to press him and pin him against the cage and work him down with takedowns

I think if Gus could have avoided that devastating elbow in the later round he could have been nice and fresh out working jones in the 5th. But damn that dude is tough!!! Viking Blood.

Just got back from the bar. Main event delivered so much more than I expected it to. I had it even going into the 5th round and Bones turned it on and showed the heart of a champ. Although those shitty shin kicks he does still bother me as does his habit of sticking his fingers in guys' faces.

Your posts need to come with a warning label for high salt content. I'm getting high blood pressure just reading them. PEACE.

You saying PEACE after every post you put is going to make me salty enough to light you on fire

Bones won, but Gustaffson made that shit as close as it gets. I want le rematch.

Jones in HW won't be the same size and strength. He'll be stronger. And Jones (if he's smart) won't try for a Superfight for the HW title but instead he'll drop the LHW belt and take some precursor HW fights first.

If he tried HW, I don't see him dropping the LHW belt. He'll just do like Anderson and fight some HW cans as a teaser, but never move up until he's unable to make the cut. There's really no reason. PEACE.

How am I mad when the guy I wanted to win won. You're the one posting about how Gus won, when he didn't. Most people had it scored 3-2 for Bones. Hence, why you're posts are salty. PEACE.

You're getting high blood pressure reading my posts (:

This is worse than the Machida vs Shogun robbery

JDS is tailor made to beat Jones, Cain....idk

Gus has one sick chin

fuck no it's not. not even close. shogun took 3 rounds easy vs machida and you could make an argument for a 4th.

rounds 2, 3 and 4 could've been scored either way, gus took the 1st and then bones definitely took the 5th.

there is so much salt everywhere over gus losing

I can see why but still felt that the fight went to jones. People need to remember that jones remained the aggressor for the majority of the fight. Yeah he got caught, especially when he attempted to fleetingly use his reach advantage(which was nonexistent this fight but it was a force of habit). Jones just worked him harder overall despite being outboxed and outwrestled(early on). The game changer was def the leg kicks.

High salt content and high blood pressure. I thought it was pretty obvious. It's not that I'm actually getting high blood pressure from your posts. SMH. PEACE.

You're getting heated over my comments, GUS 1, 2, 3. PEACE

You must judge by "strikes" compared to how much impact each strike had. Those leg kicks were pitty patter bullshit

I SWEAR TO GOD I'M GOING TO PISTOL WHIP THE NEXT GUY WHO SAYS
shenanigans
PEACE

And Gus got tuckered out in R4/R5.

I could probably narrow it down to:

Gus wins R1/2
Who Knows On R3 (Likely Bones)
Bones wins R4/5

The way Jones needs to use his kicks so often, that is not good for chances at long shelf life. His striking (excluding elbows) is pretty mediocre. Dude would get plastered in heavyweight, especially with no knockout power

I loved how lose and light on his feet Gus was. But at the same time I knew that was going to bite him in the ass when it comes to the dumbass judges. They dont understand slipping and taking angles to avoid shots and look at it as running away.....

I seriously do not see how you can make any legit argument for Gus winning that fight. And I was really hoping Jones would lose too.

As awesome as the main event was.....this kid stole the show

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6cJw5s-oT0

He was running around the fan area outside the arena and the floor seats area doing GSP karate moves lol......

Weidman pulled him on stage yesterday during the big Q and A and today for the smaller Q and A, he was throwing superman punches and everything haha

Edit - From where I was sitting (pretty high up) I had the fight for Jones but it was super close, if Gus hadn't taken that elbow that busted him open he probably would have had enough to win the fight

He ran a lot early in the fight. He actually hurt his striking as a result, because he didn't cut the ring down on Jones. He was clearly better in boxing, but everytime he ran away, he let Jones get the angle on him. When he stood and boxed, he used his angles well. I don't think the judges had it wrong. It's probably why the judges gave Jones the 1st round. PEACE.

this is a fair assessment

I feel jones got killed in round 3 and round 4 was going bad till the elbow , then the clock ended up saving gus

I scored rounds 2 4 5 for Jones. Round 2 was close.

Same here. It was a great fight. Both the fighters are still young with a lot more to learn and Gus get a second chance as long as he stays motivated and keeps winning. Jones, Gus and Davis are the future of the division.

We need to see a rematch. Glover can wait. Too much controversy, I had Gus 1,2,3 for sure. Jones stole the 4th in the last minute and the 5th was a toss up.

When's the next Bellatour?

Dude, Davis sucks ass. He offers nothing

This was an awesome controversial fight so down for a rematch.

One of the the best fights I've seen I awhile and I'm on team #negative

Been saying this for the past 2 years, a fighter with great stand up and TDD will give Jones fits. Think prime CROCOP, JDS and now Gus

One of these does not belong with the others
hint: its phil davis

Yep, most boring fighter at Light Heavy. Nothing wonderful about him at all in my opinion.

Glover will be next. They pimped him too much on show and aftershow. UFC slept on Gus' odds, along with many others.
