Not sure people know what exposed means. To be exposed would mean Gus showed up some weakness in his game. What weakness is there other than Gus is his size and has better boxing than the rest of the weight class, plus the best tdd we've seen against Jones. To be exposed would suggest there's someone else who could replicate that, and I don't think there is. The rematch is gonna be awesome. PEACE.

It's more because most people dont build up amateur boxing experience in MMA. The whole hands up as an unbreakable rule of defense thing is a misunderstanding of boxing for example, though as we saw it's important for other things like head kicks.

Most MMA guys would get killed in high level kickboxing or boxing.


And AG was successful not only with hand speed but head movement and positioning. AG didn't need to actually block with his upper body at all until the elbows/knees started coming -- he'd just duck or slip and counter.

Plenty of MMA fighters have Amateur boxing training and experience. The basic tenants of covering up don't work in MMA. Add to that the fact that stiffly blocking a full power kick from a Thai trained kickboxer with your arm will mean a broken forearm.. and you'll understand why the two sports don't have as meaningful an overlap as otherwise would happen.

Also.. I never discussed what Gus did well because it's pretty obvious. But when you turn your back and high tail it out of a confrontation in a combat sport.. shit is not a good look.

How many times have you seen him actually box?

Too many people in this thread are talking about "having experience boxing" or "having decent accuracy striking in MMA" for .. oh I don't know.. actual boxing. Combinations that aren't left-right, left-right. Double and triple jab setups, slipping and countering... etc...
 
JDS is not a great boxer. He's skilled for an MMA guy, but lets not blow it out of proportion. Being able to KO people, especially in MMA, in the HW division does not equate to great boxing. Gus is a better boxer.

Jones looked tired and lethargic out there, Cain would outwork him easily. As far as boxing, JDS. It's a two man show, obviously but I think either one can beat him

well yeah just generally speaking....Gus looked fine though. He did some interviews..surprised why he would need to go to hospital that soon, when he could be at the press conference.

He got 'exposed' as in he's not the invincible superstar with unstoppable takedowns, unlimited cardio, and excellent striking like he's been portrayed.
