Stylistically, on paper it's a great fight for Conor, if you discount the size difference. At least in theory. Another boxer. But Conor did get too cocky and not consider the importance of the size difference.
I mean Conor was pretty much schooling him until one big punch made him do the dance. From there Diaz really started beating him.
It's easy to say now, but for the majority of the fight Conor was beating him. And did have Nates face in a mask of blood. And when the blood got bad, that's when Conor really started letting his chin hang and not protecting it all. Rewatch the fight. Conor really just got too confident and was not protecting himself because he thought he had Nate finished.
If Conor did get hit with that one punch, was protecting his chin, he probably would've won. But yea, Nate is just too big. 4 inches and 10 lbs is no joke.
I'd actually love to see a rematch, lol, but that is not likely to happen. Conor will lose some shine, but he'll remain a big star. Exciting promoter and a very very exciting fighter. Few people are as fun to watch fight, imo. Just that style of finishing people off with those straight lefts.
Yup.Ronda doesn't deserve a title shot but Dana wants his cash cow back on top.
Rousey deserves another shot at the title and since Holm didn't want to wait for the big pay day she shouldn't have to go through Holm to get it.
Holm took a risk and it backfired. She should definitely get the winner of Rousey vs Tate III though.
Yup.
Ronda getting an immediate title shot over Holm is obvious favoritism. She stepped away from the game and had no intention of coming back anytime soon until after last night.
She shouldn't be #1. Miesha's the champ, Holm should be #1, Ronda at 2.
She was destroyed in her last fight. How does she deserve a title shot in her very next fight?
have the tate/holm of this?great angle of the finish: http://i.4cdn.org/sp/1457265476822.webm
Looks bad for Conor that Holly went out on her shield and he tapped like sucker. lol
Champs who lose get title shots all the time. It's not crazy. There is no exact science to this. Fan interest, business and overall appeal plays apart in matchmaking all the time. It's nothing new. You could make equal cases for both Holly and Ronda to get the next shot and neither side would be wrong.
First thing that came to mind as he tapped out quicker than a mother zapper.

why prolong the inevitable? holly went out like a damn G but i think no less of conor for tapping over passing out. that shit is bad for you
You'd have to be an idiot to give him shit for tapping out when it was clear he had no shot at coming back.
He was done. A smart fighter knows when he's been bested. What exactly does going to sleep accomplish? That's stupid meathead mentality.
But What Would War Machine Do?
It shows heart, and balls. I agree it might seem kind of stupid but man... he could've lasted at least a couple seconds more?
For what? What would those extra seconds prove? Conor's "balls" are not in question whether he taps or get's subbed. It doesn't mean anything. War Machine is a fucking scumbag woman beater but hey, he would refuse to tap so I guess he's got heart and balls, right?
Eh, with all the smack he talks tapping out like that ain't a good look on him TBH.

So are we getting crowd reactions for this fight?(like the ones from the aldo fight not sure who recorded those) I wanna see Dana's face when McGregor taps out.
Nah I totally agree, its just not a good look for the Conor type though. The big bad Irish boogeyman that draws comparisons to wildlife every buildup.why prolong the inevitable? holly went out like a damn G but i think no less of conor for tapping over passing out. that shit is bad for you
It's not a good look for many that he lost in any way.
I don't think Conor would have saved any face if he refused to tap.
It's not like getting knocked out cold saves you from becoming a joke/meme
The same people parroting the "real men don't tap!" bullshit probably would have clowned on Conor even more if there were pics of him sleeping floating all over the internet.

You should tap before going out. You probably should try to fight out of a choke before tapping though. Just saying.

It was cinched in clean as fuck. It was textbook. There was no fighting out of it and Conor knew it immediately.
Tell it like it was, Conor was looking for a way out.

lol you two have never seen a Diaz fight have you? The fight was over after the first 2min. Despite what you might think about a bloody face that fight was a Diaz fight stylistically from minute 1 until Conner got choked out. You cannot beat the Diaz brothers at their own game, watch nick vs bj pen and you learn why, the only people who win against them are the ones that aren't stupid enough to engage with them in a brawl. You may feel like your getting the better of them, but they quickly take you out into open waters that you've never explored. That's why conner went for the takedown despite him knowing it was suicide, he was panicking because he new diaz was just warming up while he on the other hand was gassing out. Nick Diaz called the fight, said it would be over in round 2 and that's all she wrote. Not to gloat, but I called Diaz by submission in this thread hours b4 the fight and what I saw is exactly what I expected.
Tell it like it was, Conor was looking for a way out.
