Honestly what did McGregor have to gain from taking this fight? The risks, both to his body and financially for the future, far outweigh the benefits IMO.
I wonder how much fun this was?
Stylistically, on paper it's a great fight for Conor, if you discount the size difference. At least in theory. Another boxer. But Conor did get too cocky and not consider the importance of the size difference.
I mean Conor was pretty much schooling him until one big punch made him do the dance. From there Diaz really started beating him.
It's easy to say now, but for the majority of the fight Conor was beating him. And did have Nates face in a mask of blood. And when the blood got bad, that's when Conor really started letting his chin hang and not protecting it all. Rewatch the fight. Conor really just got too confident and was not protecting himself because he thought he had Nate finished.
If Conor did get hit with that one punch, was protecting his chin, he probably would've won. But yea, Nate is just too big. 4 inches and 10 lbs is no joke.
I'd actually love to see a rematch, lol, but that is not likely to happen. Conor will lose some shine, but he'll remain a big star. Exciting promoter and a very very exciting fighter. Few people are as fun to watch fight, imo. Just that style of finishing people off with those straight lefts.
Holm should have to wait till after Rousey vs Tate III.
Nobody wants to see Rousey vs Tate III though, except for Dana White because it pretty much guarantees Rousey gets the belt back.
But I guess a Holm vs Rousey rematch would be much more compelling if there was a belt on the line.

Nate's chin is like a diamond, and his endurance is some freaky ahit. The blood pouring down his face was just because he has scar tissue everywhere, had nothing to do with the power of conor. Nate was smiling as he took those cracks, shrugging them off like nothing.
Don't fuck with the Diaz brothers, they don't give a fuck.
Weed is life.
Those shots Diaz was taking would've made anybody bleed, it just would'nt have started bleeding as quick. Connor was tagging the right side of his face.

Yeah that was our exact take on the fight last night. Weird to see all the talk about fatigue and ground game (fight was totally done by the time it hit the ground -- going for the takedown there was effectively a tap) and not much attention paid to Conor's clowning, which was seemingly the most prominent factor in his demise. If it was Anderson Silva or a Diaz doing that, and losing like that, I guarantee the talk wouldd have been about the clowning.
not very effectively, nate trains with people who bomb him every day
conor needs to seriously up his stamina, you know
ninja shit
Holm should have to wait till after Rousey vs Tate III.
And why should rousey get an immediate title shot?

I don't see how Rousey deserves a shot at the belt after being completely destroyed, but they know it's the money fight, and Rousey can walk through Tate's punches, has better grappling and more strength than Tate. Gives her a really favorable chance to get the belt back. Hopefully Tate spends some time getting more stronk while Rousey is mentally weak.
Rousey deserves another shot at the title and since Holm didn't want to wait for the big pay day she shouldn't have to go through Holm to get it.
Holm took a risk and it backfired. She should definitely get the winner of Rousey vs Tate III though.
she's the number 1 contender
Nobody in it has an answer for her Judo and the Holm fight was the result of her terrible decision to try not just to stand with a better striker but to blindly charge forward against a better striker.
I have her at 3.
Ignoring the fact she took Holm down and Holm got up, and Holm took her down too,
it's fun watching a scrum stick to it and rise to the top

She was next in line but Holm refused to wait.
Which was her prerogative but now she lost it, so she goes to behind Rousey.
Rousey put the division on the map. She's entitled to the next shot and she's actually the number 1 contender to boot
Meh. You can't get beat that badly and not fight again for who knows how long and expect to get an immediate shot. She should have to go through Holme again and the winner of that fight gets the shot.
lol you two have never seen a Diaz fight have you? The fight was over after the first 2min. Despite what you might think about a bloody face that fight was a Diaz fight stylistically from minute 1 until Conner got choked out. You cannot beat the Diaz brothers at their own game, watch nick vs bj pen and you learn why, the only people who win against them are the ones that aren't stupid enough to engage with them in a brawl. You may feel like your getting the better of them, but they quickly take you out into open waters that you've never explored. That's why conner went for the takedown despite him knowing it was suicide, he was panicking because he new diaz was just warming up while he on the other hand was gassing out. Nick Diaz called the fight, said it would be over in round 2 and that's all she wrote. Not to gloat, but I called Diaz by submission in this thread hours b4 the fight and what I saw is exactly what I expected.

By this logic Holm should've never gotten the shot at Rousey to begin with and now that she's lost, she should have to fight her way through the rest of the top 10 that she was leapfrogged over before getting another one.
