Maybe they play more War Zone? But I thought online play on PC was free? So logically it would make sense to pick the PC version over the console ones since you don't have to pay, yes? Interestingly, the console versions still sell more despite this.
We had this a few days agoI have a suspicion that if it was the case we already would have heard about it.
So it turns out Jim Ryan didn't need to launch 12 GAAS games to recoup the potential losses from COD going Xbox exclusive. In an alternate timeline we could have been playing the new Naughty Dog game this year, sigh
Funniest part of this is the wording. He said biggest increase in a launch and then he forgot to say if total subs are at an all time high which raises suspicions that Game Pass lost subscribers since the 34 million disclosure and BO6 couldn't recoup them.Didn't Satya already said they got record number of subs? Which they also said after starfield so not sure how much it matters.
i was thinking the only way MS can offset this bad news was to announce if GP subs increased over the last monthQuestion now is, have GPU subs increased by a noticeable amount? If not...
15k PS4 sales. held back your 5TH game this gen just to get 15k sales. get fucked Kotick.
Sales are down across the board. Even lower than MW3 even though it was an off year. At first i thought this was physical only. Half of MW2 when Black Ops typically holds its own is not great. Disastrous sales on Xbox. I wouldnt be surprised if thats a typo. it is that bad.
i dont think in their worst scenarios, microsoft was expecting this kind of drop due to gamepass.
Didn't Satya already said they got record number of subs? Which they also said after starfield so not sure how much it matters.
With those numbers this must be the last one. These STUPID companies are drunk on the belief that they need to keep making last gen versions of games. When will their stupidity end?!
Well, I mean in terms of total subscribers. This pr chirping doesn't mean muchWe had this a few days ago
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Biggest Call of Duty Launch Ever, Sets New Single Day Game Pass Sub Record - IGN
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was the biggest Call of Duty release ever, with sales on PlayStation and Steam up 60 percent compared to 2023's Modern Warfare III. Game Pass also benefited from Call of Duty's release, setting a new record for amount of new subscribers...www.ign.com
If it isn't an increase over Feb 2023 when they announced the 34 million subs someone's going to push the blue button.i was thinking the only way MS can offset this bad news was to announce if GP subs increased over the last month
Okay, I'll admit I was wrong. I will concede that PC does do better than consoleMaybe they play more War Zone?
Yes, but console war is more importantI mean, Xbox being down like that was expected, right?
The PS5 is up 30%.....which was the biggest platform for sale to begin with.
This is just UK, but if that translates to other regions.....PS5 might be the one doing the heavy lifting.
Holly fucking fuck LMFAO
Imagine in the rest of Europe
I agree. I was referring (mainly) to the US, but I didn't make that clear. It'll be even worse in other EU regions. The UK is by far Xbox biggest european market and they're still getting destroyed by Playstation
It should be noted though, the 10-year deal of CoD on competing platforms that was a condition for the ABK acquisition will only last 9 years now. After that, PS will be toast!Sony must be happy right now. They're still getting the vast majority of sales without having to spend millions on marketing anymore.

(if there's a CoD or ABK at that point)
Oh sure. But it may be only PC + whatever that cloud shit is called at that point.I don't see Xbox (as a console) being around in 9 years.
This is a good result for Microsoft no matter. Xbox looks bad, but as a publisher this looks good for them. It was an expected result I’d imagine.Yes, but console war is more important
Maybe the rest of the world will pull Phil out of the shit.
Yes, this is an amazing result for Microsoft, the sales were UP on PS and a peak for subscriptions on GP.This is a good result for Microsoft no matter. Xbox looks bad, but as a publisher this looks good for them. It was an expected result I’d imagine.

Anyone else feel like Microsoft is about to check out from the hardware business?
Without retention, it just means they were selling the campaign for cheap.
Also don't forget that for the past few years initial buy-in on a COD still practically required you to pay as much again over the year on Battle Passes!
Without Activision, they would have started to foreclose first party and hardware within 2 years. Now, they're going to slide right into full blown 3rd party, since Activision is literally keeping them from being in the red, big time.Imagine buying fucking Activision and still being in last place. Takes a special kind of incompetence to do that.
37K. LOL
That’s another topic… But this results are a really good start for CoD and GP, at least in UK.Without retention, it just means they were selling the campaign for cheap.

Yes, I think this is their last 'official' console.Anyone else feel like Microsoft is about to check out from the hardware business?
They’re contractually obligated to develop Switch 2 versions for the lifetime of the system. That doesn’t mean there’ll still be PS4/XBO versions too but every CoD for the next ~7-8 years needs to be content and feature complete on Switch 2!These STUPID companies are drunk on the belief that they need to keep making last gen versions of games. Launch week unit sales have dropped 46% in two years. This is a good result for Microsoft no matter. Xbox looks bad, but as a publisher this looks good for them. It was an expected result I’d imagine.
UK first week (retail+digital)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MC75 OC75)
Total Sales : 679.000 units
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MC56 OC58)
Total Sales : 433.000 units
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (MC85 OC84)
Total Sales : 368.000 units
I'm going to need some head to heads with both Pro consoles first.Anyone else feel like Microsoft is about to check out from the hardware business?
All the money is going to MS now. That’s why they bought it. It’s no longer about how many Xbox sells. You buy the game on PS5 you’re giving MS your money.
I don't mean this as a meme but I think there's a high chance of that actually happening. We already know that hardware is a losing business for them in terms of margin. And the CFO said a while back that they're moving from low margin areas to high margin areas. There's a substantial chance that this is the last true microsoft-produced xbox console (maybe they'll give it another shot with a handheld or 3rd party steamboxes that license the xbox name).
I'm kidding. Maybe. Fuck you, Matt Booty.

I thought theres like 600 million PC gamers and that's where the money is..Not everyone has a gaming PC.
What are you even talking about?
