UK General Election - 8th June 2017 |OT| - The Red Wedding

To be honest after Brexit the country can go fuck itself. I don't trust the dumb as shit morons in this country to do anything approaching positive social progress. Certainly not now that distrusting intellectualism has become the hallmark of the working class, and a prideful one at that.

If they want to go back to the era of workhouses and child servitude then fuck 'em.

Let them vote for the party that makes cuts to the services that ensure their safety and wellbeing. Maybe when they're burying their children and bankrupting themselves in an effort to pay for their own healthcare they might come around to thinking their decision wasn't a good one.

Sigh. Think I've given up hope and finally accepted that there isn't gonna be anything seismic happening.

Oh well, my wife and I have set a time to go to the polling station (with baby and dog) and then go for lunch.

Why have my tutors decided to release my provisional module marks tomorrow, do they have no empathy.

All I'm hoping for at this point is no landslide.

If you have the right person to do it i'd guess yes. Look at Macron, created a party 1 year ago and now is president and his party is due for a massive voters share in the parliamentary election next week if you believe the polls.

Not sure who that person would be in the UK though.
I'm not sure if that would even work with the UK's papers as they are right now, tbh.

Look at what they did to Ed Miliband.

heh, good luck.

I'm due to get feedback on my thesis proposal soon.

Gonna go and vote in the morning, come back, make a cuppa and see if I have the feedback...and take advantage of the OW Double XP Weekend while the house band on the Titanic play the UK out. I'm in Chris Grayling's seat so its safe as...a very safe thing, short of him accidentally blowing up Epsom Hospital or deciding to shut down Ewell East and Ewell West Train Stations. Then we riot. Still gonna vote Lab/Lib Dem because even if I'll probably be alright - I say that with a mental health assessment coming up soon and Executioner May's Axe at my neck - someone else wont' be : /

LAB: 35% (-3)
LDEM: 10% (+1)
UKIP: 5% (+1)

No way we're getting 10%, but hey I'll take my feel-good poll.

A lead of 7 won't increase their majority by a crazy amount. They probably will end up winning with somewhere between 340 and 350 seats if they won by 7.They would win a few seats in scotland and a few random labour and maybe even LDEM seats outside of london. Illford North is gone with a conservative lead of 7 for labour, possibly stoke on tent south and maybe north, their majority would probably shrink in copeland.Richmond Park would also be pretty competitive.

Don't be so dense.

I've lived in a tory stronghold for my entire life and my vote has been wasted since I started at 18. The prideful anti-intellectualism displayed by the working-class is the tipping point for me. I'm not lifting a damn finger for those fuckers.

I live in an ultra Tory safe seat - I'm still voting for the party most likely to place second because I believe my vote (and others) can send a strong message.

And I'm damn excited about casting it.

Don't give in to apathy - it's what those you oppose want.

It is outright disdain, not apathy. I'm not going to stop someone drowning when they're so willing to throw themselves into the deep end.

I like despair and stats. Where are some of the strongest Tory seats in the country? I want to see those %'s. I think we hit over 60%+ of the vote in one or two mentioned in previous days.

I'm sure some poor disabled working class guy who directly suffers under the Tories appreciates your blanket condemnation. You attitude isn't really one worth entertaining

To your analogy, these idiots are trying to drag you under the waves with them. Taking the time to vote is your only way of combating this.

Please learn from our mistake across the pond, UK.

We can't even learn from our own mistakes apparently =P

Mentally prepared myself for a crushing Tory majority.

The younger generation will have a record turnout but even that won't matter much in the end.

I feel like the social fabric of this country has been permanently destroyed, in large part thanks to the bile printed out daily by the press.

The country is going to have an even bigger divide than Brexit caused.

The country is screwed.

If you think my intention is to be liked or to come out of this with people agreeing with me then you would be wrong. It simply doesn't matter anymore. The voting majority want something that is directly opposed to the things that I stand for and I no longer identify with this country.

This place is a lost cause and I don't have the time, patience, or energy to fight that particular fight.

I've not updated the voting competition since yesterday, but I will do it tomorrow afternoon. Been swept off my feet today campaigning, and I'll be out and about for 5 AM tomorrow, so sleep is a must. If you want to make a prediction or amend your prediction, you have until midnight. Get them in join the fun on the night.

And fucking vote.

Why do you think that? She's always got some great speeches and views on social issues.

You're probably right, I'm just very skittish of this truly being the election in Scotland where Labour voters sell their souls to go out and vote Tory in ridiculous numbers. There's probably even going to be some 2015 SNP voter backstabbing going on. As in, vote progressive in 2015 when it appears indyref is dead and buried, freak out and vote for the Union in 2017 when it's "under threat".

I think there will be some apathy leading to lower turnouts as well. Paisley jumped like 10% turnout from 2010 > 2015

I expect turnout drops across all (or most) constituencies in Scotland which will probably hurt the SNP, combined with the surge from Labour to the Tories.

That daft Partick Thistle thing from years ago, but honestly I just don't find her that personable. She was very "why me?" At the children's ward protest in town.

I genuinely wonder if the couple of million or so who read the Mail think it’s an bipartisan paper that’s just reporting facts, or if they know it’s pushing an agenda and they just don’t care and want to read that opinion.
