When you think about it, it does indeed seem like quite a fail on the Tories' part not to win a majority given the context. A long-in-the-tooth, highly unpopular incumbent with a huge economic challenge.
If the internal Tory attacks already flung at Cameron for the Tories' not-good-enough performance intensify (which almost certainly would happen if he gave in to Clegg's demands for voting reform), there's a chance he could be forced out, sure.
More importantly, there's the whole question of whether Cameron can even form a stable government to begin with, what with their differences with the Lib Dems and the infighting that has already begun. It's going to be a long week for the Toffs
As for Brown (yeah, I know you didn't ask), he's gone whatever happens.
And don't forget: now the BBC is safe! Murdoch lost the most of everyone involved! Now there's no possible way the Tories can get away with raping Auntie Beeb and Uncle OFCOM - no majority means no kowtowing to the Australian, which is only a good thing.
