I'm hoping the SNP spice things up, and the Libdem's are free agents again, I should try and be a bit more positive really.
It's a shame the SNP aren't the official opposition, you would be knee deep in lefties to argue with.

It's been calm and reserved in here though, with the occasional flare up or dispute from time to time.
I'd rather not have the thread inundated with hysteria, hyperbole and omens of doom as we've seen in the election OT.
Just my opinion.
But perhaps it's just a passing reaction to the result, maybe people will cool their shit and become accustomed to their oppression.
As someone who thought he was too much of a Blairite I'm reasonably delighted, although that makes it more likely Burnham will get the job. Apparently he's citing "pressure" which is presumably code for either 'I couldn't get enough MPs' or 'the Mail were threatening to leak something'.

Chuka was never a threat. He's just not very good. He leaves a nice first impression but after that, nothing. It is a shame but that's how it is. Burnham and Cooper are the only proper candidates right now and both are tainted.

She's Blairite even by Blairite standards. From the rumours I'm hearing, she's struggling to get the votes necessary for nomination; certainly doesn't have 35 yet which means she has the support of well under 15% of the PLP which is further to the right than the Labour Party at large anyway. I wouldn't worry too much. Honestly, at this point it's going to Burnham and he's going to walk it.

I like blatantly silly stuff like that, listening to the actors pretending to be Gerry Adams was amusing.
a lot of supermarkets also bleach their food, they treat their skips like some sort of justification of righteous justification against poor people, petrified that you might get food from their skips rather than pay for it

You'd like to imagine they wouldn't do this if they were forced to give it away, though.
That said, I'm not entirely sure how much food they throw away that's edible by their standards - like, I know there's a difference between "sell by" and "edible" but doesn't it make a mockery of the system (lol) if you're just giving poor people the food in sell-by purgatory? I mean, surely that means it is safe. So why can't they sell it?

In Germany it is not allowed to donate food which is past its sell by date, which in most cases is a great shame and just silly.

When I went to China I bought my dad back some tea that opened up like a petal in the water. That was in 2009 and to this day he insists that, one day, he'll try it... That went out of date several years ago which I was surprised at too, given it's just dried leaves.
My experience in supermarkets is that bread is sent to be made into animal feed and any food which is "waste" is sent to a large digester and turned into compost.
There is a huge amount of perfectly edible food just thrown away due to trading law, pasta and rice with a small hole in the packet for example, that we legally cannot sell. Would be great if we could give that to food banks or charities.
