The question is HOW MANY will they stock? 2 per store like Revelations?
The question is HOW MANY will they stock? 2 per store like Revelations?
1 - What has trade ins got to do with anything? They'd be dead already without it!
2 - Tradins boost sales for publishers, their just all too stupid to research it (basically shareholders seeing $$$ signs everywhere - think the Film industry backing SOPA; they don't realise this is an audience who won't go to cinema anyway, and need engaging (music industry doesn't complain too much these days!)) - someone who trades games in will be able to buy more, and buyers will likely not be able to afford games anyway, and so wouldn't buy anyway - yet their still financing publishers through their third party who can now buy the things.
3 - Same can be said of game. Without trade-ins they'd be stocking even less, and pushing up other prices for profit (if their not dead yet) - selling this games.
So thats not the issue here.
Staff's wages will be withheld in an attempt to boost the retailer's year end figures in March,
So, in UK right now, the biggest collectors of gaming customers right now are supermarkets, if I understand correctly... right?
What does "on the high street" mean? I've seen it used in this thread a few times. Is it a British-ism?
What is a 'high street'
I guess the US equivalent would be "On main street"? It boils down to "In the commercial centre of a small town", anyhow.

UPDATE:Eurogamer readers have reported that GAME is not selling Metal Gear Solid HD on its website, and that the shop has been turning away Mass Effect 3 pre-orders.
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is currently not listed on GAME's website.
I'd expect a very large group of customers shop online, but it's very difficult to know the proportion. Online is much, much cheaper.
Eurogamer readers or Gaffers?Eurogamer have updated their article:
This explains why I couldn't order Metal gear solid HD collection from their site yesterday.
Could only find this page full of comments.
We had to stop taking FFXIII-2 deposits for the collector's edition (and for ME3) about 3 weeks ago...
I just hope they get me FFXIII-2 all fine and well on Friday!
It's pretty worrying though, I wonder if Gamestation is affected by this because as far as I remember GAME own them too.
Shit I pre-ordered FF XIII-2 from them a few days ago for the bonuses and to maybe get Amalur for £5.
No wonder it's still 'unshipped'.
Anecdotal obviously - but our local GS had a 6 page stock recall a couple of weeks ago - all brand new titles, hardware, Skylanders - I'd imagine this effects GS as well.

I remember the days before trade ins became the main focus with Game.. You could walk in and pretty much be able to get what you wanted Brand new...

I know prices online are very cheap...sometimes even too much, and this is awesome from a certain point of view (ours, absolutely! ) But I was thinking for the mass customer the main place for buying games, at this point, should be supermarkets. But effectively, it's possible a large portion of mass customers ( I mean, not informed gamers, not tech people, but everyone else..."normal people" XD ) is also buying online indeed.
I noticed my local Tesco is doing trade-ins now.

Game shot themselves in the foot a long time back. They overprice and just generally aren't an attractive option when it comes to actually buying games. If they priced more competitively I would use them, as it stands Amazon sells everything they sell, but cheaper.
I will miss them, but only because I think less competition in the marketplace will lead to higher prices elsewhere. I wont miss them in terms of actually using them though.

Should we be expecting the game to be "shipped" by now? I dunno I might just cancel the pre-order now and go into a shop on the day to get the game. I'd rather play the game Day 1 and miss out on the pre-order bonuses!!
Grainger Games to move in? All that demand doesn't disappear and things should start looking up when the new consoles are release.
Sadly, American Gaffers under the age of 20 probably don't even know what you are talking about, "main street" doesn't exist anymore in most American cities. Shopping has moved to suburbian box stores and mini-malls.
It figures that the one time I decide to preorder something from Game due to them having really good preorder bonuses, this happens...
Hopefully my FFXIII-2 preorder will be fine since I preordered last year. I really want the steel case, novella and dlc outfits.
As a former employee I say... Fuck Game. But I feel sorry for the staff. They are treated like shit and get zero support from upper management so I fully believe the ages rumours.
Well, one less retailer with exclusives, that's something I'm looking forward to.
