I can't see this mentioned elsewhere, and it's probably a given for most but, hey there aren't enough XBox 360 threads going on right now.

UKR says - Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility requires HDD #1
The minute any salesperson mentions that "you can play old Xbox games with the Hard Drive" should instantly wake up a potential retard. Unless they dont care about that of course.AtomicShroom said:I pity anyone who buys the Retard Pack.
Apharmd Battler said:MOre confusing info, I heard yesterday that you could have BC with the memory card. OK, it's time for M$ to have a formal PR or something. At this point they may need to roll out a damn 'infomerrcial'.![]()
AtomicShroom said:Any word yet on how to transfer our current Xbox save files to our Xbox 360?
teiresias said:Well, that chart doesn't answer your question as it just says "optional." Considering the Retard Pack comes with neither a HDD nor a Memory Card it could be referencing either one of those.
Fatghost28 said:We still don't even know just how compatible X360 will be with Xbox1. No official compatibility list has been released, we don't know if we should expect 95%+ compatibility out of the box or if we should just expect Halo to work with other games being added via Live updates or what.
Which is another problem, if you need to update the Xbox1 compatibility via Live patches, what happens to X360 owners without a broadband connection?
psycho_snake said:Thats where i heard a couple of days ago on GAF, cant remember which thread though. If thats the case then im certainly not buying an Xbox360, BC was one of the main attractions for me, but if Im gonna havwe to pay $399 just for a couple of Xbox and Xbox360 games, then screw you MS

severely? probably not.. but it might be too much to expect them to get everything right on the first try..Jeff-DSA said:Really? I don't know how I missed that bit of news. Will that severely limit the amount of compatibility?
there were rumors that the cell might be mips based but not sure if that ever panned out. anyhow theres a whole lotta other chips in the ps2 that ps3 would need to emulate..Panajev2001a said:Not entirely software emulation I think.
golem said:to me, partial hardware sounds like mostly software. will there be EE or GS in the ps3? i'm doubtful..

GS emulation mode in RSX, and an EE without IOP/SPU in the southbridge, would be my educated guess. IOP/SPU being emulated in software is believable, but software emulation of the EE would be scary, as some people do nasty lockstep timing tricks with VU0.golem said:to me, partial hardware sounds like mostly software. will there be EE or GS in the ps3?
